He would read away, and look up every 5 minutes or so and make sure we were still on the right heading.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1400985529434569506.post-70370403194559689532023-07-06T12:36:05.448-04:002023-07-06T12:36:05.448-04:00My Mom's family came to Israel - Jerusalem fro...My Mom's family came to Israel - Jerusalem from Yemen in the 1890's. She was in the Israeli army in 48 (my brother and nephews served too) She immigrated to the US with my Dad (served in the US army WW2-not combat - he was already in his 40's) and brother in the 50's. She was very politically aware (Herut/Likud all the way!) Returned in the 70's . He stopped me, and we argued for awhile over the violation, finally settling on a 10 dirham fine. Conversation carried on in Spanish, all very friendly. Never saw Larache in its glory, but I’ve seen many former Spanish properties that presumably went down hill after independence.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1400985529434569506.post-74881650600625783762023-02-19T19:10:36.378-05:002023-02-19T19:10:36.378-05:00Perhaps it helped that the German General staff in...Perhaps it helped that the German General staff in WW1 was nowhere near as smart as they thought they were--even if they spoke of their British foes as "lions commanded by donkeys".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1400985529434569506.post-27521189212158276662022-12-07T03:38:11.017-05:002022-12-07T03:38:11.017-05:00Germany adopted his strategy of rapid mechanized a...Germany adopted his strategy of rapid mechanized advance with some success in WW2.
