Bringing in the White Guys

Well it seems that the President has decided to bring in the white guys to clean up the mess made by his first diverse cabinet.

By doing so, however, he is once again showing how incredibly stupid race is as a selector of talent.

The white guys he is bringing in are pretty, pretty, pretty bad to horrendous. Kerry is a joke. Hagel is, to put it kindly, an idiot--and that's putting it very kindly. Lew is a hypocritical money-grabber of the first order.

Makes you despair about white guys . . .

I can't bear to watch my country implode any longer. Several of my friends have already left the country(seems Costa Rica is a decent place, no?).

Race is not the issue with the new cabinet: incompetence is. Obama wants a cabinet of total losers. Not that he'll use them except as camera fodder for decisions he's already reached on his own and will promulgate with them standing behind. I think Kerry and Hagel could NOT have been selected except with an eye confirmability (senatorial courtesy, don't you know) and inability to have an original thought -- or bring on board a staff of underlings who would have an original thought. That's my theory.

I think you're really on to something. Obama is their talisman and must be protected at all costs until out of office. They know that their policies are going to be very unpopular so they line up a row of saps to take the fall for any blowback or governance missteps. Kerry or Hagel going down, who really cares. Hillary was different, that's one reason the Ben Ghazi was so drawn out.

    2. F, have you forgotten so quickly that the Marxist media has proclaimed Obama as the smartest man to ever occupy the Oval Office? Would a man, so intellectually superior, choose retards to sit on his cabinet?

Why, yes, he would if the meme of his brilliance was all a sham. And don't give Obama credit for being able to pick out qualified people. Obama is nothing more than Howdy Doody to Valerie Jarrett's Buffalo Bob, who pulls the strings. Obama is the stage puppet, being on perpetual campaign, while Jarrett pulls the strings. One only has to look at Jarrett's background to understand why people like Kerry (traitor), Hagel and Brennan would even be considered.

If there was any doubt that Obama is an uninvolved president, look no further than the Benghazi fiasco. He is simply the face of the White House, but certainly not the brains or the management.

I'm with scott lorenzen on going Galt. I don't think there is any chance of walking this scam back. It will have to crash and burn at which point we will be tasked with rebuilding.

    4. What Gilbert and Sullivan wrote in _Pinafore_ is applicable to our side of the Atlantic

...I always voted at my party's call, and never thought of thinking for myself at all. I thought so little they rewarded me by making me the ruler of the Queen's Na-vee (He thought so little they rewarded he by making him the ruler of the Queen's Na-vee!).

@Zane, I've come to the position that Obama IS involved--involved in pushing an agenda that will destroy the country. He's our Mr. Bean in chief.

    5. Indeed, F. On the other hand, it's been said that the most astute Presidents surround themselves with people more talented and smarter than themselves. And so, by such standard it might well be that with these current cabinet choices, Obama is freakin' off-the-charts, "astute".

  3. Forget it, Mad; it's Sesame Street.

When I was a kid I was watching Sesame Street which had just started to air. My Mother, who never shied away from confronting racism came in and became upset because she said they only had the white men act like fools. Sure enough, no sooner than she walked out, than a white doofus stumbled onto the screen. Even then I thought, good call Mom.
When Obama started his run, no sooner than I thought OMG it's going to be freaking Sesame Street, than Joe Biden blundered into the scene.

  7. I think the newly emerging conservative critique of O is the correct one. Namely, that we are all making a continuing mistake of trying to understand his competencies and achievements (good or ill) by the standards of fellow priority-driven executives. He is not an executive, and not a wonk. Rather he is a vain and fragile man who thrives by setting himself above the straw men of his rhetoric.

We viewed O as another Carter, or worse, and anticipated with relish his corresponding downfall. But Carter erred in that he actually tried to carry out his flawed agenda, and was eventually held to account. O has no intention of carrying out his agenda, and therefore will never be held to account because he will never achieve anything. We mistook this for incompetency and laughed at it, but the joke is on us--it is uber-competency from the standpoint of a hollow man who craves adulation above all else.

In this sense, we have more of a third world autocrat in the White House rather than a European plutocrat. What would Don Castro be without fifty years of tilting at the American windmill to justify his people's misery? What would have become of Arafat had he actually made peace with Israel? Not only would Palestine no longer have need of the pervy old terrorist, but he have been judged by his peers on the results of the deal, which is ultimately why he walked away from the Wye River talks even though (or rather, particularly because) they offered him most of what he demanded.

I suspect that Obama himself will find a way to put a shank into Obamacare before the end. Not because of economic reality, but because it is his nature. Better to see it go down and spend the rest of his life complaining to sympathetic audiences that it would have been great had only the racists not opposed him. Letting it stand risks hanging real world results hang around his neck, and the one thing he cannot bear is true self-reflection.

So we cannot beat Obama, not because he is better than we but because he refuses to take to the field. We can only outlast him. Fight a rearguard action in the other two branches of government and wait for Jan 2017.

Sorry for the length. I needed to get that out, and I certainly cannot say it at work.

    1. Your observation that he is more like a third world autocrat is an astute one. He lies like a man without conscience and takes no responsibility for his words or actions. Hillary said this perfectly in a debate in the primary 2008 campaign. Her words (paraphrasing) were how we can't pin him down to anything because he says one thing and when confronted says he never said such a thing. He does not take responsibility and we have seen that time again. The man voted present 130 times in Illinois senate -- what more proof did people want. We just have to wait for this scourge to go away after these 4 years but I am not sure it will. The Democrats and their politics have been corrupted beyond repair and so are the media.

    2. They are indeed beyond repair. But so what?--they always have been (at least as long as this Gen X'er has been alive). That's not our real problem. The problem for us is that the public does not associate the country's difficulties to current policy, and Obama's lack of accountability threatens to continue that disassociation. Whoever follows him is much more likely to be a true believer, who will try to fix the catastrophe that will be 2017 America. If it's a Ryan or a Rubio, they may be able to do something. If it's a (gulp) Clinton or a Cuomo, they will have all the wrong solutions, will f*** things up even more, but will alienate the voters because they will be tied to their policies. And as such, will be quickly disposed of (electorally) as repentance for Obama's sins.

It's a historical pattern. Khruschev after Stalin. Liu Xioachi and Lin Biao after Mao (shoulda waited for Mao's death, not just his retirement). Abbas after Afafat (still "in office" but lost most of his power to Hamas). Anyone think Raoul will be around long after Fidel joins the choir invisible?

    3. What do you make of his OFA continuing as a non-profit? My first thought was he would be like Don Carleone dispensing favors and punishing dissenters even after he leaves office. That is also what I meant by corruption beyond repair. Unless there is a rebellion in the Democratic ranks and the media, I think he will exert unhealthy influence with none of his actual fingerprints on any even after he leaves office. Like you say, not only the public has to put two and two together but the party and the media have to wake up. Right now, the opposition party and the dissenters look extremely powerless. Some of it their own making. For example, who asked Rubio not to have a water bottle handy instead of awkwardly reaching for it in the middle of his response? Not smooth, not smooth at all, and especially when we all know how the media goes after these people like hound dogs.

    4. If the Republicans were smart (no this isn't satire), every single one in front of the camera for any reason would have a bottle of water.

    5. Your observation that O is like a third-world autocrat makes a lot of sense. This seems like such an alien animal for the American context, though God knows it is common enough around the world. Is it actually difficult to do the third-world autocrat thing? How do people get whatever skill set this requires? And how are they brought down (other than by a palace coup)? Would love to see analysis from those well-versed in the ways of banana republics. OMG of course a typical third-world autocrat move is to destroy the currrency through inflation.

  8. Intriguing remarks this post, but all seem to overlook the one real problem!

We live in a very bad real world, with many very bad real people, who make use of any perceived options available of advantage, and as the Anonymous troll among us illustrates, are not able to discern the nuances of American culture, nor communicate in the language effectively, without fractured non-sequiturs, and at wide range of mental developement, usually at low information levels.

Which is to say, those many bad people, so called leaders and their clans, who misunderstand America are quite dangerous to all, including us, either peripherally, or directly.

World consequences are real, not the imaginary "everyone play nice in the sandbox" that the mythical executive hussein pretends to address.

  9. Off topic I fully realize but what I just noticed is egregious. Has to do with the victims at Fort Hood.

(As I understand the drone program, Awlaki had to be declared "an enemy combatant" prior to receiving the Hellfire enema - and if Hasan was in communications with Awlaki...).

  11. Obama needed a very good military to get him through the Afghan war which was always the "good fight". Now that we are heading for the exits pronto he allows women in combat, gays to serve openly and SecDef so stupid even highly partisan Dems know he's unfit for the job. So much for needing a robust military. Time to dilute it and cut the funds so much the US military won't be able to move itself anywhere but around the US interstate highway.
