How Many Times do We Have to Hear About the Peaceful 99% of Muslims?

I was--big mistake--reading CNN and BBC reporting on the Religion of Peace's activities in London and Stockholm when I saw that the benefits of Islam's Peaceful Activities also have made themselves manifest in Paris, where a French soldier has been stabbed. I love the cautious, oh so very delicate reporting by BBC on this latest demonstration of the Love of Peace,
President Hollande also responded cautiously while on a visit to Ethiopia, telling reporters: "I do not think at this point that there may be a link" [with the London attack]
French reports said police were hunting a bearded man of North African origin about 30 years of age. He was wearing a light-coloured robe called a djellaba.
"We still don't know the exact circumstances of the attack or the identity of the attacker, but we are exploring all options."
Oh yes, that description is undoubtedly of a Mormon missionary, or perhaps a Hasidic Jew, or a slightly disheveled Amish tourist?

I also adore the breathless reporting (here and here, for example) re the alarming "rise" in anti-Muslim "attacks." Note the source for the reports and take a grain of salt, a spoonful would be better, then let me know how many Muslims have been beheaded on the streets of London in the middle of day. How about zero for a number? How many Muslim immigrants in the UK are packing up, turning in their assistance cards, and moving back to Nigeria, Pakistan, Morocco, Bangladesh, etc? I'll bet that zero number remains a pretty accurate estimate for that, too.

I enjoy reading the comments from readers around the world on the BBC and CNN stories. There, and elsewhere, we see another number, a rather tired one: the "statistic" that "99% of Muslims" are not terrorists. Is that true? I don't know. From where does that number come? I don't know. Let's, however, go along with the gag. Let's assume it is accurate, and come up with our own equally valid "99%" statistics. Some samples follow; I am sure you can turn this into a drinking game--but not around Muslims because drinking offends them (unless they are Saudi diplomats in Islamabad).

Did you know that,

-- 99% of the Japanese did not attack Pearl Harbor?
-- 99% of the Nazis did not kill Jews or Gypsies, or invade Poland?
-- 99% of the Communists did not engage in Stalin's or Mao's purges?
-- 99% of the Germans killed in Dresden had never bombed England?
-- 99% of the Italians did not invade Ethiopia?
-- 99% of the Iranians did not occupy the US embassy in Teheran?
-- 99% of the Al Qaeda membership did not fly airplanes into the World Trade Center or the Pentagon?

And so on, and on, and so what? What does that "99%" prove? Just one thing: There are consequences in the real world to belonging to organizations or following ideologies and leaders that commit atrocities. That's the way it works. If 99% of Muslims are not terrorists, and do not support terrorism (that's the big "if") where are they? Why can't they control the crazies and murderers and rioters in their midst? If they can't, they will find that they might just pay the price, even if they did not pull the trigger, or use the cyanide gas. The Germans and the Japanese discovered that during World War II.

We see Britain's foolish PM Cameron making the typical foolish Western politician statement after the murder of the young British soldier (and let's not forget he is just following in the path of nonsense about Islam blazed by our own President Bush),
"This was not just an attack on Britain and on the British way of life, it was also a betrayal of Islam and of the Muslim communities who give so much to our country. There is nothing in Islam that justifies this truly dreadful act."
No, Mr. Prime Minister. Everything in Islam justifies this truly dreadful act and so many more. That is why the "99%" cannot condemn, isolate, or punish the murderers. That violence, that "extremism" is Islam; that is the real item. We need to deal with that hard and unpleasant fact. Islam has not gone through an enlightenment, and what "reformation" has taken place has moved it backwards, ever deeper into the thinking prevalent in the dark ages and places from whence it came.

  1. An uncommonly excellent post, Dip. Really superbly unique angle to the deadly facts of criminal islam.

I say to readers this: Learn these following truths and realities, rendered beautifully by a very intelligent and determined, dedicated, and persuasive Ph.D. type here, by Dr. Bill Warner,

http://www.politicalislam.com/blog/islam-coexists/ , a tight honest review of the impossibility of coexisting with islam ever.

That is one of the few impossibility type certanties in life, like death and taxes.

and here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Qpy0mXg8Y This is an incisive, crisp, remarkably comprehensive, highly illustrated, presentation on the behavior since founding of, and characterization of mohammadanism, through current day, including the beginning attacks on Americans, in around 1780 CE, when Americans were first brought directly into the islam war on America. You will likely want to replay this a number of times, it is so packed with critical knowledge.

It is narrated with the entertaining quality of a professional Hollywood film!

    1. To posit a question of the most bizarre fact of mohammadanism, a fundamental fact condemning mohammadanism to be a fraud, existing as an ideology, not a religion. This very long question-statement of fact:

Keep in mind perhaps the most bizarre fact about the koran, which was supposed to be the dictate of a so called perfect god, who of course was as usual, supposed to be all knowing and all wise, knowledgeable, etc. and not given to the mistakes of mere mortals. So why did the revisions of the koran, modified in medina, the new verses which mo said ala said, were to abrogate fully 62% of the now out of date and worthless, and now magically incorrect, poof, mistaken by this so-called god ala, original verses of the original now wrong koran, written in mecca, before mo took his raiding gang to medina and wrote the corrections, the vicious improvements, the suras (verses) of the of the sword, (see 5 and 9), all of which were 100% full of hate and vicious death, and total criminal acts, effective forever, and no revisions were to ever be allowed in writing, without death, for blasphemy, as usual, why did these mistakes happen, given that so called all wise so called god, who quite obviously made a ridiculous mistake, first time? A god? Common, get a clue!

There is no Golden Rule, in this the only ideology so claiming to be a religion. This ideology is also the only one claiming religion status in world history, which automatically requires everyone who leaves the membership, to be put to death, even if originally they joined up based on full lies and deception, which is usually the case! With the exception e.g. of such as the mafia, yakuza gangs and such vicious gangland style groups.

  2. In medieval times, people created fairy tales and magical creatures to make sense of their world. One of the most endearing is the unicorn, a horse with a single horn that symbolized purity and wholesomeness. In our modern times, people in Europe and the United States consider themselves more sophisticated and rational than people from the Middle Ages, but we still create myths, albeit more subtle ones.

Daily we hear reports of violent acts committed by Islamic terrorists on every inhabited continent. We try to wish it away with the myth of the ‘Moderate Muslim’, telling ourselves the Islamic agenda has been’ hijacked’ by a tiny minority of 'islamists’ and that soon the huge, silent, 'moderate majority' of Muslims will take charge and change things. However, post 9/11 very few Muslims have condemned terrorist actions. We are still waiting for 'moderates' to stand and deliver, identifying and removing 'extremist thugs' from their mosques and their communities. Waiting for this self-correction is our modern version of searching for unicorns.

"Moderate" Muslims will not be able to wrest control of the agenda for several reasons. First of all, Mohammed, the Messenger of Allah’s eternal word, was not moderate. No "moderate" can legitimately tell another Muslim to stop doing the things Mohammed himself did. Also, the Qur’an condones violence and coercion to further the Islamic agenda. People whom we call 'moderates' are labeled hypocrites by Allah Himself in the Qur’an. 'Moderates' will always lose the argument because, as ex-Muslim author Ibn Warraq says, “There may be 'moderates' in Islam but Islam itself is not moderate.”

Islamic expert Daniel Pipes and others estimate ten percent of the Islamic world to be militant. In 1933 when the Nazi party took control of Germany it had 2 million members, comprising only three percent of Germany’s sixty-six million citizens. A tiny minority of 'extremists' can control a vast number of "moderates", making them irrelevant.

  3. As I have commented in other web sites: A "moderate" islam is "moderate", until he blows you up with an IED, or hacks you to death, or runs you over with a car, but mostly blows you up with an IED.
EVERYTHING, but everything I needed to know about islam I learned on 9/11, and their actions before. Heltau

  5. I share your frustration at willful obfuscation of the truth.

I think a good start would be for politicians to tell the truth even when it gets in the way of their narrative.

    I don't foresee that happening.

What is it that you would like to see done?

I assume mass deportation based on religion is anathema for any reasonable person.

  7. My epiphany of the week has been to see the similarity between the ignorant acceptance and encouragement of Hitler's Nazi Germany and the asinine political correctness that currently allows Islamic ideology to flourish. There are not many left from the Greatest Generation. Those who survived returned home - believing the mantra, Never Again. Never Again? Evil is at our doorstep. If you believe Obama is a secret Muslim who seeks 'fundamental change' in our social fabric - well, evil may be in our house. Those who fail to see the harm Obama has done and continues to inflict on our country are the same people who keep telling us that 99% of the Muslims are peaceful.
My reality check says that the majority of Germans were not evil - but they failed to see evil. Failure to see the evil in our midst today is a failure not unlike theirs.

  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vry0AdNTZz0 is a perfect illustration, of how Americans now are as the Germans were, before hitler took over, perhaps in the mid 30's or so.

Wertman tells it like America is now repeating the same naive mistake the German, Austrian bunch had done.

BTW, PS, it would aid all of us commentators IMO if each anon would ID their specific comments, with a specific number or name, no matter how made up or fanciful. I know you may fear your government acting as an enemy and getting you for whatever you may say, or a more dangerous usual enemy catching you, or whatever. But it would help all to keep an idea of who is developing what stream of thought, rather than random thoughts that dangle, and are therefore less than what they might be. My ID is a made name, but I stand by what I say, with the ethics and integrity of my belief, whether it bombs, offends, or stimulates thought. Of course, I hope to launch worthy comments or knowledge, more than less. And each anon is ultimately traceable, technically, by a really good techy geek, whether publicly ID'ed or not. Nothing wrong with owning up to a stream of thought, for God's sake, we're not yet quite under the stasi, yet, close as hell, but not yet.

  10. Your mentioning Dip, of that 99% number (for whatever reason) conjured up something from my long ago high school years ...

I can't recall precisely who it was (maybe my long-ago algebra teacher) but anyways it went something like this:

"The Arabs gave us the concept of Zero."

It occurs to me now, that long-ago teacher might've - just possibly - imparted what it meant to speak ironically. So ... 99% could be seen as accurate. More or less.

    1. Another piece of "goat-bothering" propaganda.

"Zero" as a concept and in actual use dates back to at least the Sumerians, who used a slanted wedge symbol, circa 5000 years ago, long before "Mo and the Marauders" started their climb up the "Hit" parade. The idea was essential in positional notation.

The idea, and its use made its way through the Babylonians, to India and thence back to the West via both the Greeks and Arab merchants who were trading in India.

Bizarrely, the Romans seem to have had no idea of it at all.

"Zero" is not the only thing of which the Arabs have claimed the origin. In almost every field in which they claim precedence, they are being misleading, at best.

  11. The basic problem is our definition of religion. We make a division of religious and political whill Islam unities the the two.

Another problem is that the "moderate" Saudis game us to their advantage since they are not "radicals" AND they have lots of oil to sell. How many Muslam immigrants do you see on the streets of America today? The answer is far too many.

The rhetorical trick being played with the "99%" argument is confounding the statistical with the causal. If a group DEFINITIVELY willfully INTENDS to kill you and has carried out such acts, the probability of us having an active enemy is 100%.

  14. As Whitehall said above, it's a "rhetorical trick being played with the "99%" argument"... and besides that, when Muslims who have immigrated to Western nations are polled about their beliefs, it turns out that AT LEAST 20% consistently agree with their Holy-my-Foot Scriptures that "apostates should be killed" and other such beliefs which are totally inconsistent with Western Civilization. (That 20% is a conservative number-- I keep reading of polls showing mid-20 to mid-30 percent of responders approve of traditional Islamic practices such as beating one's wife/wives, or stoning adulterers, or murdering uppity family members to "cleanse dishonor" {eyeroll} .)

So the so-called "tiny minority of misunderstanders" (who -interestingly- all "misunderstand" the exact same things about Islam, and apply their "misunderstanding" in exactly the same way) yields a much larger pool of potential jihadists than any of our Wise Leaders is willing to take notice of.

  18. "When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

2 And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:

3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

    9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.

11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:

13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

15 And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee."

You know, we really should inform these clowns that if they want to play this game, we can play it too.
