Merry Christmas to One and All!

As I have said before, I like the Christmas season, yes, despite the commercialization, and the tackiness, and the overuse of phrases such as, well, the one I used above, "Merry Christmas!" This season always leads me to believe that perhaps, perhaps better times are around the corner. And we need them now more than ever before in my experience.

On the positive side, the American people appear to have turned against Obama--at least that's what the polls show. This "thumbs down" has come despite the main media's consistent effort to whitewash his record and try whenever possible to put a positive spin on his "achievements." Here we have, for example, CNN going to bat for the President while reporting on his declining popularity.
How bad of a year was 2013 for President Barack Obama? The economy is strengthening as he starts to wind down America's longest war, but his poll numbers are the lowest since he took office almost five years ago.
Usually, a growing economy and bringing the troops home mean public love for the commander in chief, but not this time.
The flush of success from Obama's re-election last year faded quickly as his administration faced a series of controversies -- some unavoidable and some self-inflicted -- that eroded Obama's credibility along with the belief that he can bring about the kind of change he called for in running for president.
"People don't think he's as competent as they used to think," said CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger. "They don't think he's as trustworthy as they used to think."
CNN cannot acknowledge that it was a serious mistake to put this man in the White House; they seem almost befuddled by his low polling numbers. Gee? What could be the reasons?

Anyhow, I hope and pray that next year will see a brighter time for our country and the forces of individual freedom and responsibility.

In the meanwhile, a Merry Christmas to one and all. I am off to hit the kosher Christmas cookies . . .

    1. G'day Arkie,

A Merry Christmas to all on this blog.

Hanukkah this year was 27th November to 5th December so the special menorah is away until next year.

It is Christmas Day here in Oz now.

I am currently drinking a rather lovely drop called Two Little Ducks, made by Baily & Baily. It's just a dry white. I'm drinking it mostly because a dear friend of mine has a duck fetish and I've caught a touch of it.
      What am I talking about.
ALL Australian wines are good and that's all there is to it!

& an as the only Arkie entrying here, how can I argue the Shelia - she'd have my balls you understand.

(Statement & no Question as how I'll be puncuatin).

  5. Merry Christmas to you all, and may the world continue its re-awakening to the shortfalls of socialism and its near cousin environmentalism. May we also have the wisdom to avoid foreign entanglements.

To the USA specifically, I hope your president continues to blunder and stumble, not because I wish you ill, but to ensure that his sycophants will remember for time ever more the consequences of electing a phony.

  6. I get to stay up waiting for my 3 year old to stop staying up and waiting for a magic train to arrive in the snow (it doesn't snow here) and whisk him away to the North Pole for an adventure.

    1. All I can say is that as exhausted as I am sure you are, you will look back at these years with incredible fondness. My boys are grown and live far away and I very much miss Christmas with small children.
My husband and I will sit by the fire, basking in the glow of our Christmas tree and listen to the Messiah (no, not BHO but Handel)
I haven't read The Polar Express in many, many years. I have half a mind to get it out and read it to myself!
Merry Christmas and warm wishes to all.

  9. Merry Christmas to Diplomad and his 12 readers from northern Nevada, where the outside temperature is 28 and traces of snow last on the valley floor. The sun is turning snow-dappled peaks orange and gold as I write this and the dog has his nose buried in his blanket, defying Santa to wake him up. I, too, hope and pray for only one present this year: that the American people will say a definitive "NO" to our slide toward socialism and to anything Obama proposes as a "fix". This President has taught an expensive lesson to those who would learn it, and that is even beginning to include the Fourth Estate. I still ponder on how much better things could have been if we were finishing our first year of a Romney administration right now.

Merry Christmas and happy 2014 to one and all!

  10. Merry Christmas to our esteemed host and to his readers all over the world, from the Black Swamp of Ohio (where I am) to Australia. This is the first place I go on the internet every day (well, right after Drudge), and it's a thrill every time when there is a new essay! We need your wisdom, Diplomad. Thank you for sharing it, and please continue!

  14. Pray that Dip and all have had a Kosher or traditional Happy and Merry Christmas, and a happier New Year, than our current ones.
Time under the cloud that is this regime, is growing long of tooth, don't you think? Salud!
