Can hardly wait!
I am just a bundle of nerves!
Every American wants to know: Will Emily Blunt be proud enough of the Democratic debaters to keep her US citizenship? We were so very saddened when she announced that following the Republican debate she had come to question her decision to become a US citizen. Poor Emily! Forced at gunpoint to become a US citizen, and forced, I tell you, forced to pay lower taxes than in her native UK. I hope she hears the sort of stuff at the October 13 DNC candidate debate that will make her proud of her new country. I trust multimillionaire Emily loves the progressive tax-and-spend ideas of Bernie Sanders that will ensure she pays a tax rate MUCH higher than she was paying in the UK, or forced, I tell you, forced to pay now in the poor ol' USA.
The Great "Debate" looms.
We will have old Hillary Clinton trying to explain who the new Hillary Clinton really is, and trying to get us to forget the real Hillary Clinton we have seen on the public stage for the past few decades. Then crazy 1930s Brooklyn Marxist Bernie Sanders will tell us we are not spending or taxing enough. Wealth is for distributing! Long live the USSR! And Governor O'Malley? Who knows? Will he try to explain the disaster that is now Baltimore, and that he helped keep that way during his eight years as mayor? Will he talk about his mediocre tenure as governor of Maryland, during which he enacted useless and liberty-destroying gun control laws? All of the Dems will try to get us to forget that the Democrats have been in charge for the better part of the past decade and that our social and economic problems have only worsened, our international standing greatly deteriorated, and our enemies grown stronger and bolder.
All that is missing is Joe Biden.
The country is just abuzz--well, CNN is--with speculation as to whether Uncle Joe will or will not run and what further messages he cynically fabricates having received from his dying son. Joe Biden is old, white, incompetent, corrupt, a serial fabricator and embellisher as well as a known plagiarist: he will fit right in on the Democrats' menu of offerings. Go for it, Joe! Maybe loony Labourite Neil Kinnock will write your inaugural speech for you!
They will prattle on about the nonexistent threat of climate change; the need for new federal programs to "save" the middle class from the very Wall Street and Silicon Valley tycoons who give money to the Democrats; the need to welcome further illegal immigration; and various useless and liberty-destroying proposals for gun control--ignoring, of course, that most murders are committed by Democrat constituents and occur in Democrat-run urban areas with the strictest gun control legislation in the country.
Let's rock!
I have my popcorn ready!
What I REALLY look forward to are the hard-hitting questions CNN will pose:
ReplyDeleteTo Bernie: Can you tell us what percentage of your campaign donations have come from the lower middle class, who are just looking for the chance to have the government pay for their college?
To Biden: Was it hard for you to lose your son with all the demands imposed you by the office of the Vice President?
To Hillary: Please tell us how hard it is to be the first black FLOTUS when surrounded by people of white privilege? And how hard it is to stay noways tard when the Republican bullys in Congress keep asking for emails you have already given them?
The real questions won’t just be softballs; they’ll be T-balls with beeping locators. The next morning report on NPR will sound like a breathy version of North Korean radio.
DeleteTo Boinie: Why do you think an unborn child at eight months is a choice, while Colgate, Crest, or salt and baking soda shouldn't be?
DeleteAs someone who's lost a child (at a very young age), I wince at the question for Biden.
Spot on for Shrillary Shrooooooooo. Don't you feel lucky that the Republicans are such a bunch of Keystone Cops that they can't nail you for the sort of thing for which Scooter Libby was nailed?
man.. sorry to hear it.
Deleteand I don't know why people 'go there' with such questions or assertions... I remember Glen Beck being harassed for bringing up his daughter with cerebral palsy and I just noted "people who go through that, you don't challenge them on it no matter where they go with it... you can disagree on the larger discussion, but they own that piece without anybody else being allowed a word", just people shouldn't go there... and that was before I had a child with cerebral palsy myself.... and this kid... he's gonna grow up and help save liberals from themselves.

Emily who? Anyway I want CNN to ask each candidate why all of them are old and white? I thought the Democraps were the party of diversity and youth.
ReplyDeletesay that too loud and Cory Booker will run... they'll throw that hagiographic TV series on him to every channel and will get him elected regardless of the disaster he's left in his wake.. Obama did it.
Delete- reader #1482
It's OK. Senator Booker plans to introduce legislation making the owning of illegal guns a crime. He's on the case.
DeleteYou're going to get Mrs Slick Willie as your next President, and like it! She reminds me slightly of the first American woman I ever knew, Olive Oyl in the Popeye cartoons. I may be alone in this.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the tax on RAIN that Gov. O'Malley signed into law!
ReplyDeleteThat had to be some of the most creative legislation I had ever heard of.
I would very much like to have someone ask him about that.
Socialists in Australia did that as a very successful attack on free citizen farmers. #WarAgainstTheKulaks.
DeleteReason was because climate change. As usual.
I don't believe that is correct. It was vaguely mooted about 10 years ago at the height of the drought but never implemented anywhere that I know of. In fact, many areas pay people to put in water tanks to catch rooftop rainwater, which is the opposite of taxing rain.
DeleteWe're having a federal election up here in Canada. I went to a local riding candidate debate. The Liberal party, curtesy of US advisers, has adopted a platform of "change" and class envy of the "1%".
ReplyDeleteIt was hilarious to hear the incumbent candidate decry the 1%, when he certainly is one of them, and insist on change - by re-electing him, of course.
Just as an aside, how screwed up things are when a Liberal government with a guy named Trudeau as Prime Minister can be heralded as "change"!
Well, if you pay someone a dollar and they give you a candy and a few cents, that's change. Indeed, it's change you can believe in.
DeleteI hope that after the forthcoming 4 years of Clinton, the republicans and their nutty base will finally mature up and start acting like adults.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we will have some sensible candidates that don't spew nonsense like the current crop.
You mean 8 years? Or, perhaps, until her next stroke.

DeleteYou know, after the Confederacy surrendered, then Union could have recognized the succession, then annexed the territory by right of conquest. The Southern Democrats could have been expelled or put on reservations. Then the modern Democrats wouldn't be around ruining the nation with their murderous white supremacism.
They didn't do it because the Republicans had the radical notion that treating Democrats humanely might possibly get the Democrats to honor their side of the deal.
If Hilary takes the Presidency, and the Republican base isn't more strongly polarized against the Democratic Party, it will be because someone has killed a bunch of Americans.

Anonymous, actually one of the movers and shakers of a lenient treatment for the South was Andrew Johnson, a Southern Democrat whom Lincoln made vice president as a token of his own view for more lenient treatment of the South.
DeleteLincoln didn't plan on being assassinated.
DeleteI view Andrew Johnson as a probable traitor.
The contemporary explanation the Democrats gave for succession was slavery, but the subtext was that they wanted to take their marbles and go home when they lost a presidential election.
What they did once they might do again, and the Republicans wanted to prevent a re-occurrence.
Sherman's policy might have done this with less fuss than Reconstruction ended up involving. Johnson canceled it, and may have had the effect of protecting the regional political influence of the Democratic Party elites who started the war in the first place. Johnson was nearly removed from office for this.
The end of Reconstruction can be seen as an example of the essentially moderate nature of the Radical Republicans. The Democratic Party in the south no longer had the ability to easily start a civil war, and making the status quo permanent would have had worse consequences for The Republic.
Subsequently in history, the Republicans made many similar judgement calls. Now it is habit. The establishment Republicans are trying to do the same thing, now, when it is inappropriate.

Why are you here, "TruePat"? Do you like reading this blog? Are you perhaps, a troll? You seem fairly well behaved for a troll.
ReplyDeleteAre you familiar with the term "Concern Troll?"
ReplyDeleteI continue to believe that Joe Biden is the brains in the Democrat Party-terrifying though that is!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Dip will watch the Democratic debate....I wonder how much alcohol it would take to do it?
