For a political junkie such as I, this proved an amazing day. I was going to write about my day at the gun range as I continue my brave struggle to stop shooting high and left (10 o'clock) but the events of September 16, which saw the left shooting right and low, crowded out that boring saga.
Once again, my hat is off to Trump.
As he did with his trips to Mexico, Louisiana, and Flint where he caught the Clinton machine in mid oil change, he did it again with the press. He announced that he would hold a press conference to deal with the "birther" issue (Note: For those two readers from Mars, this is the issue of whether Obama was born in the USA and, even if he were, should he be considered a "natural born citizen" given that his father was not a US citizen.) Trump, clever on the "birther" issue, did his signature ploy of "Hey, many people are saying" without ever actually saying that Obama was not US born. For years, he kept up a drumbeat of demands for an oddly reluctant Obama to release his birth certificate. Once Obama issued a (sort of) birth certificate showing his place of birth as Hawaii, Trump claimed credit for forcing the president to do so.
Well, as the Clinton campaign sputters and the poll numbers circle the drain, Queen Hillary and her media drones decided to resurrect this issue and cast it as a racial insult to Obama: Trump began again to be asked whether he thought Obama was born in the US. While some of his surrogates tried answering for him in the affirmative, Trump took the risky move of refusing to answer, saying that he would speak at the aforementioned press conference held, purely coincidentally, at his beautiful new hotel in Washington DC.
The conference was supposed to start at 10 am EST, but did not do so until around 1045. He had the press there, absorbing their attention while Clinton held an almost ignored event elsewhere in DC. The stage filled up with what turned out to be "deplorable" veterans, many of them with purple hearts, two bearing the Medal of Honor, some with silver and bronze stars, and others holding flag rank. They were, as one vet said, "the deplorable deployables." Eventually Trump spoke, saying that Hillary's 2008 campaign had started the birther controversy and that he, Trump, had finished it: Obama is born in the USA, time to focus on making America safe and great again. Applause! Exit stage left.
The media, including FOX News, exploded. They had been conned! No press conference! Fact-checkers went into overdrive, claiming that Trump lied about Hillary's campaign kicking off the birther controversy. Since I started writing this, the irreplaceable and irrepressible Drudge has linked to stories from 2008 showing how the story did, indeed, come from the Hillary campaign. I was living in DC at the time, and remember those stories, the outrage from the Obama camp, as well as hearing a work colleague, a strong supporter of Hillary, arguing that Obama was Constitutionally ineligible to run as president since his citizenship was in doubt. Ah, 1984, once again serves as the progressive instruction manual . . . rewrite, rewrite, rewrite . . . Did Trump seize on the birther controversy and milk it for his own ends? Sure, but the Clinton campaign served as the biological parents of the issue. Was it racist? I don't know; I mean Cruz had a similar issue, and was that racist? I guess everything is racist when convenient . . .
Will Hillary continue to push this issue? I don't know, but probably; she ain't got much else. Interestingly Obama himself did not get the memo; at a TPP photo op in the White House (with dopey Gov. Kasich present!) Obama told journalists that he was "surprised" people were raising this issue, again. He might want to have a word with the Clintons, but they apparently are at a massive Clinton Foundation birthday bash for Bill where the rich and famous attend if they fork over tens-of-thousands of dollars. The Clinton crime family just doesn't stop . . .
The Clintons are done.
ReplyDeleteSame way the English elite of the Empire were still celebrating as their relatives in America created a new country, or the way champagne was still served in the Kremlin as the soviet hegemony reverted to its previous second and third world chaos.
Trump is an evolution of the "Obama" paradigm, which goes back to Jonestown and its demogogue mind control experiments, with a throughline passing straight through the middle of the telegenic Reagan presidency, through W Bush's equally telegenic War on Terror, before people seemed to express an enthusiasm for a shift to political horror stories and fantasy programming such as the aforementioned "Obama" years.
Trump is not a grifter, he is a closer. He also has experience in the liquidation field like any businessman who has survived.
What his enemies, who are also OUR enemies, and who have never worked a day in their lives, do not realize or understand, is how brutally efficient the dismissal and hiring phase of liquidatins can be.
Entire departments may well be abolished. Most haven't existed before the mid 1970s and of those with longer pedigrees very few have offered value for money.
Trump will have the single greatest mandate for change of the last 100 years and he will use it.
Short popcorn.
High and left at the 10 o'clock is most likely caused by insufficient your bottom hand stability; you need to concentrate on firming the grip with the bottom hand, and keeping you left arm straight.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks. I'll try that.
DeleteI have a similar problem but it was worse with my Beretta 9mm and the Colt 1911 is almost square. Maybe grip size.
DeleteOh, and Trump trumped the media.
Or you could adjust the sights .
DeleteSounds like some people here are pretty knowledgeable. Try shooting low right. If you're getting good groups it's probably the sighting, if your groups are pretty loose it's you (grip, stance, trigger pull, etc etc).
DeleteJames the Lesser
Next the strange Connecticut-issues Social Security number ... but that can wait until after the election ...
ReplyDeleteOf course O was born in the US. The interesting question is about all the other circumstances of his life that he keeps hidden (including, very possibly, a genuine birth certificate) - specifically, who knows what these secrets are, and what do they do with that knowledge?
ReplyDeleteI would like the see the father entry.
DeleteHe released his long-form birth certificate several years ago. The information fields in such certificates at that time in Hawaii were banal. His father is listed.
DeleteI've no clue why the moderator refers to his 1961 long-form as a 'sort of' birth certificate. He had the standard long-form issued in Hawaii, from which short form certificates are derived. Is it the moderator's contention that no one born in Hawaii in 1961 received a 'real' birth certificate?
There's nothing 'hidden' about Obama's life.
DeleteThere are curios - things you do not ordinarily see. He's had brief bursts of productivity, achievement or good fortune (one extending from 1988 to 1991, another extending from 2004 to 2008). But, other than these, the man marks time. There's nothing from any other component of his life which indicates a talent for much other than turning in copy on time. Had a few contingencies gone differently, he'd be working as a second echelon college apparatchick, foundation functionary, or reporter.
Get some high power boat tail ammo with a good power head, just cut the targets in half. A 6" hole high left is a 6" hole.
ReplyDeleteHa!
DeleteHope you're right about HRC's numbers circling the drain, and may we soon hear a good, loud "SHLLLLUUURRRRRPPPPPPPP!" as the tub finally goes dry.
ReplyDeleteSeeing how The Donald pulled a deft one on his detractors over the birther issue (indeed launched by Shrill's campaign), I'm actually starting to warm slightly to him; even if I am still not comfortable with a casino kingpin, serial adulterer, and questionable dealer in the Oval Office (to say someone is better than HRC is setting a very low bar). However, I am still more likely to write-in for POTUS (since The Donald probably doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning my deep-indigo state).
I remain very cynical about this presidential race, God forgive me. We, the American people, have on the one hand Madame Lies-Cries-Alibis who had proven herself incompetent in high office who believes that as long as a child is not outside its mother it is right to kill it for the mere crime of being inconvenient, supports a revolution in immorality, hates the First Amendment (to say nothing of the 2d), and is corrupt and sleazy enough to make a Fourth World politician blush. On the other hand, we have someone unexposed by Wikileaks only because he hasn't been in the government, a serial adulterer (I suspect that a lot of the women who protested in the nude against him were secretly hoping he'd notice them in case he's tired of Melania), and while successful, still has a number of questionable deals behind him. This does not speak well of us.
Wikileaks says there's nothing on Trump that isn't already been covered. You forget-the media covers for the Clintons.
DeleteI have not forgotten that the media covers for the Billary:
DeleteA high-minded couple named Billary
In assets took more than their fill-ery.
If their name were Nixon
The _Post_ would be fixin'
To stick their fair necks in the pillory!
Reluctant as I am to support Trump, I must admit the press conference stratagem was delicious.
ReplyDeleteAnd then he topped off the day by entering his Miami rally (8,000 in attendance) to the tune of
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
and a giant Les Déplorables backdrop. (video at my blog if you care to visit).
A big "in your face, Hillary!" if there ever was one.
The guy's been manipulating the media for 40 years, and by now he's making Hillary look like she works for him.
He reminds me of Reagan although very different times and methods. Reagan knew how to get past the media and so does Trump. Reagan was in more hopeful times with easier problems.
Delete"to say someone is better than HRC is setting a very low bar": low indeed, but the only relevant bar.
ReplyDeleteTrump appears to have gotten inside the OODA Loop of the Clinton campaign, which includes much of the media.
ReplyDeleteI shoot .22 pistol and see that I have fair accuracy. Good groups, mostly on center. Then I shoot 9mm and group off center, mainly due to recoil anticipation. I find that alternating between .22 and 9mm in sessions has improved my accuracy. Also going through a 100 rounds of .22 is around 7 dollars. I would suggest you pick up a .22 revolver, used if possible. It will pay for itself in ammo cost savings.
Not a bad idea.
DeleteWhat do you shoot, that you shoot to 10:00? If a Government Model, or clone, perhaps a Ruger 22/45, would be your best bet, as the grip configuration is the same.
DeleteWhat do you shoot, that you shoot to 10:00? If a Government Model, or clone, perhaps a Ruger 22/45, would be your best bet, as the grip configuration is the same.
DeleteI don't expect Trump to win. I expect the Democrats to steal the election in the swing states. Spread terrible rumors about Trump as if they were facts. I also expect some of the black caucus members to show up at a Trump rally and "magically" hear people using the "N" word. The Democrats are getting desperate and desperate people do desperate things. If we get a major terrorist attack between now and Nov 8th all bets are off.
ReplyDeleteYou can't lose if you have the dead, illegals, multiple voters, and the like voting for you; as well as a media which will never exercise its watchdog functions against you.
DeleteI do not think a bombing between now and Nov. 8 will make a twat's worth of difference. The People's Republic of Massachusetts has passed legislation which will force religious institutions to accommodate confused men in dresses and wigs in bathrooms in any public event, but I am certain it will never be applied against Muslims who offend against such a law. I guess in this, the Tsarnaev brothers probably won.
How about four attacks the past two days ? More is coming. If the Muslims were smart they would hold off to elect Hillary but they aren't.
Delete"The Clinton crime family just doesn't stop". Yep. now exposed is that regular folks are having their donations recharged to their credit cards many times when it was to only to be a one time donation; the recharges do not reach $100, the fraud investigation trip point.
ReplyDeleteFor those who are interested, since the story hasn't exactly gotten much traction in the mainstream media, here's a link to the story amr is referring to, from the New York Observer website: http://observer.com/2016/09/exclusive-hillary-clinton-campaign-systematically-overcharging-poorest-donors/
DeleteGot to love a site where there is almost as much concern for you shooting high and left as there is for the current election
ReplyDeleteIf this election is stolen how well we shoot may suddenly be a very serious issue.
DeleteHear, Hear.
DeleteAim for centre mass, Dip.
ReplyDeleteIf you are high and left , you knock off their liver.
A guy with a 9mm or a 45 in the liver is a dead guy.
Or carry a 12 gauge....
Anon,
DeleteIn an argument between a 12ga. and a pistol, bet on the 12 ga.
James the Lesser
Ps. Center Mass yes, and shoot until there is no more threat.
As my RSM said - stop shooting when one of you is dead..
DeleteYour politics are excellent, but your shooting needs help. 1)Do not accept bad technique and compensate for it. 2)Shoot what you have. 3)Shot placement trumps everything. Get better at it
ReplyDeleteMy guess is your problem is stance and grip. Try this: hold the gun in your left hand, triggering with the left. Cradle gun in left hand, fingers on right, thumb on left parallel and below the slide. Form a solid triangle by thrusting both hands forward...shooting is aggressive...weight forward on left foot...with a solid grip with left hand. This puts the thumb counter to left pressure from trigger pull and stabilizes the gun at the same time as minimizing anticipation...squeeze,bang,dead. Try it.
Dry fire. Watch for uncommanded sight movement. I would suspect two problems - pushing the gun left with the trigger finger, and flinching. Dry fire will help cure both.
ReplyDeleteThe trigger could be too close to the tip of the finger, that's what I was doing and the result was high and left. We need to pull the trigger straight back. Yes! Dry fire and don't blink - watch the front sight.
DeleteI'm not just a 'deplorable', I'm in a basket labeled 'deplorables'.
ReplyDelete- reader #1482
The Clintons need to sock in as many "donations" to their "foundation" as they can right now. I'm thinking that if Trump wins (looking more likely every day) they will drop off to pretty much zero.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine some nasty people wanting refunds if she loses. Actually, a pleasant thought.
DeleteMost guns have a right hand twist which rolls the gun to the left when fired. The barrel of the gun is higher than your grip which lifts the front of the gun. 10 o'clock is a normal result. Hold your handgun with both hands and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteAssume they'll use 'all necessary means' to drag her carcass into office. Other than that, she's done, a not merely ill but rather seriously diseased individual.
ReplyDeleteHere's what CNN/BS-LSD/FOX/CBS/et al won't say re hil:
'Here's the situation
how it really stands
I'm out of circulation
all but washed my hands.
My social life's a dud,
My name is really mud.
