Sitting in my hotel room in NoCal listening to the news. The progs just can't help themselves. I am going to file a complaint with OSHA and EPA as I am starting to go deaf from the sound of prog heads exploding.
Where to start? How about with air conditioning?
The progs can't stand that Trump-Pence got Carrier to keep over 1000 jobs in Indiana instead of moving them to Mexico. Suddenly the progs are concerned about government interfering in the decisions of private companies. OK. Got it. The progs who have written an infinite number of laws, regulations and programs that do precisely that, are now concerned that Trump used the power of the progressive state to benefit 1000 workers and do something that Obama and company did not have the creativeness or gumption to do. The bottom line is that over 1000 American workers who were seeing their jobs shipped away, now will see those jobs stay. The progs and the libertarian purists can argue all they want about the interference with a private company's decision but the bottom line remains that 1000 working and taxpaying Americans have had their jobs saved by a man who is not even yet president.
The progs have created a political and economic system that is increasingly hostile to free enterprise here at home while at the same time, with conservative Republican support, have established an international trade regime that encourages those companies to leave the country. Companies have been forced to make a rational decision within an irrational system. Trump promises to restore our system so that it is one that restores our country to its once formidable position as the home of free enterprise and creativity. We'll see, but for now I remain guardedly optimistic.
Meanwhile, I am going to get some good sound suppressing headphones. Got to save what is left of my hearing.
Psychological projection is strong among those progs.
ReplyDeleteI am thoroughly enjoying seeing the left miserable. Instead of smugness and sanctimonious attitudes, I see genuine fear in them. Their world crumbled around them Nov 8th. They post meme after meme decrying how Trump is Hitler and his every move is a step toward tyranny. I watch them flail and wail, and just laugh. Their methods no longer have power. You cannot PC shame Trump. He is the honey badger, he doesn't care about their feelings. Trump master trolls the left anytime he wants. Like his statement the other day on flag burning. He knows full well that it is protected speech. But he also knows by making that statement the full clown car of lunatic leftists will show up to flag burn and make a scene which gets pasted across the media, and re-enforces the sentiment of his supporters, that the left hates America. Even more astonishing is that these people don't see they are being played by Trump.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I know the Leftist is losing the argument as soon as he shouts "Fascist!" or "Rascist!"
DeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but burning the american flag is protected as part of a 5-4 scotus decision. Maybe that will become 4-5.
DeleteAnd if it did, we'd be back to the 1970's or whenever it was, when people weren't allowed to speak out against the government... OH WAIT... no... we've always had plenty of options in speaking out against the government.
But some sort of rational sense would keep people from having their heads explode, which is apparently the thing to do in lefty circles these days.

Forgive the left ... they know not what they do ...
DeleteThanks for the heads up Sir. Sounds like they need a history lesson. I just posted the following on Facebook with the tag #Carrier. (FYI, I have found that my realnews posts get more visibility (ie 6 people instead of none) if I don't put any URLs in the post, and hide the source about 140 characters or more into the text. I think FB's filters look first for URLs, then only index a small part of the text. )
ReplyDeleteRe #Carrier: Remember that time in 2009 when Obama forced 2,789 car dealerships to shut down, costing 100,000 jobs. The NYT reported ""President Obama’s auto task force pressed General Motors and Chrysler to close scores of dealerships without adequately considering the jobs that would be lost or having a firm idea of the cost savings that would be achieved, an audit of the process has concluded. " "The report... estimated that tens of thousands of jobs were lost as a result."
American Thinker reported from the same audit report: a top Obama official, manufacturing czar and "Auto Team" leader Ron Bloom admitted that the dealerships could have been kept open, saving those jobs, "but that doing so would have been inconsistent with the President's mandate for 'shared sacrifice.'"
AmThink further quoted from the Audit"...Barofsky notes, "ultimately close to half of all of the GM dealerships identified for termination were in rural areas."
American Thinker noted bitterly: "Records indicate that in 2008, Obama lost the vote totals in the nation's 1,300 rural counties by nearly 80%. The Obama administration's insistence on radical numbers of closures ended up shuttering dealerships in those rural areas disproportionately, while dealerships and jobs in metro areas -- Obama's geographical base -- were left open."
Good reminder. I had forgotten all the GM "bailout" fandango. Also I recall his activist goons showing up at the homes and businesses.
DeleteExcellent point.
DeleteObama's bailout is the reason I will never buy a GM vehicle.
DeleteDelilah
I also avoid GM like cancer. The auto dealership thing was similar to the guitar maker raids. Donate to Democrats and you can cook and eat children. If you don't, or worse donate to Republicans, they will shut you down.
DeleteHow about the coal industry? Obama famously said “So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted"
ReplyDeleteWho is funding these pipeline protesters? All my lefty friends are convinced that 5,000 people can get together in the middle of nowhere with no resources and no organization, and survive for months on end.
ReplyDeleteI'm not buying it at all, but nobody seems remotely suspicious.

It is my understanding that housing is at a premium out in the oilpatch country where this is going on. And I doubt if a huge number of the locals, who are largely enjoying their economic boom, are putting them up out of the goodness of their hearts. I'm with you. someone must be dumping money into this effort.
DeleteWell, I'm betting the DNC, Organizing "for" America, Soros, Move on and other collectivist Red organizations. They are probably looking for a worthy cause now that Castro is gone. It's gotta be something.
DeleteSorry this is off-topic, but it looks like a place where this blog can really add some value, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if you knew this person (The Last Diplomat), and had any opinion about her or the story. Thanks.
I did know her and worked with her. She did not deserve to be treated like that.
DeleteI was about to ask you the same thing. I am reading it now. Maybe a topic for a post later.
DeleteI am loving see in all the heads explode, too. Who knew that extreme projection & denial could do that! But even more, I am loving seeing many on the right refusing to accept the MSM fake news, the name-calling, and fighting back to defend their views. We will no longer go quietly into the night. All the previous RINO candidates should learn from Trump's street fighting techniques. Being polite and principled gets you nowhere, when the other side is dragging you into the mud -- you just end up with mud on your face. We need to keep up the pressure on Congress to stand with the Americans that elected them and relegate the Dems to the dustbin of history.
ReplyDeleteDelilah
I love the sound of their heads exploding in the morning, it sounds like .... victory!
ReplyDeleteJust because they are irrational, self regarding, projectional, head exploding fools, doesn't make them harmless. Yes, they are losing their power (so many of the illusions they have worked so hard to construct have been shattered), but they are just that more dangerous for it, especially in the short run. As someone above said people are fighting back (as my Dad would say) don't let them up for air.
ReplyDeleteForgot to add James the Lesser. Getting old.
Delete"No no no... we can't have the US President talking to the leader of Taiwan.." - China
ReplyDelete"Sorry, I just got off the phone with the President of Taiwan, we were having a chance. What did you say?" - Trump
Seriously.. this has needed to happen for almost 40 years. And it took Donald Trump, of all people. Now it's all "he didn't know what he was doing"... yes... he did... it was a middle finger to people who think they control international politics and diplomacy.

It is not only hypocritical progressives who object to the Carrier deal. This will cost jobs, net. But the people whose jobs are saved know who they are, and the people whose jobs are cost do not. The economics is not beyond a first-term price-theory student.
ReplyDeleteThe progressives do it because it's good politics--the New Deal policies that made the Great Depression great were all good politics. They are not the only ones to notice, apparently.
Add to this the fiasco that the Harvard Post-Election Forum with the campaign managers turned into when the leftist lost their cool and started throwing around the racism, sexism, supremacist, etc charges.
ReplyDeleteThe Left refuses to use the opportunity of introspection to examine their flaws, mistakes, warts, and all. They created the meme of the ism's and over the years have fully bought into it as a truth. They now create fake news about the other side creating "fake news."
And for this I say good. Let their heads explode. Let them rant and rave. Let them burn the flag every night on the 'news.'
As long as they refuse to see (and understand) the self inflicted damage they are doing to their cause the better off we will be.
Lets just hope the RINOs in Congress have gotten the message...though it looks like Senator Graham has not. (Perhaps Trump should have offered him an Appointment to something like HUD hoping he would take it...with the real goal of allowing the Governor to appoint a more Conservative Senator).
Dear Dip, I wonder what you think about this take on the Secretary of State choice? https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/12/04/the-state-department-and-the-secretary-of-state/
ReplyDeleteSundance at The Conservative Treehouse is saying that the Department of State is such a nest of vipers that no Secretary of State will be able to reform it and keep it from opposing a Trump agenda tooth and nail. I'm not so sure. If enough good political appointees can be put in place so that career advancement becomes a function of doing good work....maybe things could change?
If I own a US flag why shouldn't I be able to burn it? My property, my choice.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same argument as that for my being able to fly a Confederate flag.
Property? Choice?
DeleteKind of at odds now that the SCOTUS has ruled the Government can force the Citizenry to purchase any product the Government deems vital, under threat of IRS sanction.
Just ordinary SCOTUS lies.

Suddenly the progs are concerned about government interfering in the decisions of private companies.
ReplyDeleteIt parallels their sudden concern about hostile activities by Russian intelligence.
Obama didn't just sit by and let the jobs go. He said that Trump was lying when he said he could save those jobs.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a really smooth transition. Trump is already acting as President. Obama just needs to get out of the way.
