Heading East

Blogging might be a bit on the light side for a few days. I am flying back to my ol' hometown of New York City.

Born there many years ago. Worked at the UN, too.

Haven't been there in several years.

Going to see the wonders wrought by Blasio Rule.

I will have my IPAD with me, but . . . .

  2. I stay overnight in Manhattan on business a few times a month. While it still is much better than it had been in the 80s, there's a tension and edginess on the streets and in the subways that has been making a slow, but noticeable, comeback. I've encountered more belligerent drunks, youths, and homeless in the last two or three years than I have in the previous twenty. It's still a great place to visit, but I've been finding the "street smarts" of my misspent youth kicking in there more frequently.

  4. I wasn't able to accomplish my life's goal -- to die without setting foot in New York City. But I came close. Went there once. That was enough.

  5. You'll have to leave your carry piece at home- but apparently it's still legal to have an army of heavily-armed bodyguards surrounding you (judging by what I see the politicans do, anyway ;-)

Stay safe, we want you back!
