Flagstaff at Half

Tired. Doing a passable impression of "low energy Jeb." Sitting in a dog friendly motel off of I-40 in Flagstaff, Arizona.

My two dogs are eying me suspiciously and wondering when I am going to upset their life pattern, yet again. We just spent much of the day in the Chevy Silverado driving from Southern California on our way to North Carolina, seeing some genuinely beautiful countryside, by the way. The poor canines had no idea their tranquil and predictable world of walks and frolics in the mild California sun would come to an end when they jumped into the cabin this morning. They are uneasy in the motel room, and keep wanting to get back into the truck. They don't know that tomorrow we are doing an even longer leg of our ongoing exodus from Blue Cali to Red NC.

Have followed some of the news. Not much makes too much sense, well, not in a world of logic and disinterested reason.

It seems that every liberal icon is some sort of seething pervert who can't wait to stop mouthing his virtuous feminist platitudes and start the bacchanal with whatever female is handy. There is something seriously wrong in private prog world. Hollywood burns and it warms my cold conservative heart.

The verdict in the Kate Steinle case also makes no sense. A despicable illegal alien piece of human filth who repeatedly violated our laws, and defied deportation, openly murdered a young woman in San Francisco in broad daylight and in the presence of multiple witnesses. A SF jury, of course, found him not guilty of murder, and convicted him only on a relatively minor gun charge. The Feds better jump in on this and charge him with everything under the Federal sun, including civil rights violations.

The Flynn story also makes little rational sense. He has pled guilty to lying to the FBI by not accurately stating that he had a meeting with Russian officials (and others). The prog media is having a field day concluding, apparently, that Flynn's guilty plea is an admission that there was "collusion" between the Trump campaign and Putin. Nonsense. Flynn's meeting with the Russians took place AFTER the election and nothing discussed, it seems, was illegal. Guilty of an infraction of the Logan Act? I don't know since nobody has ever been convicted in the nearly 220 year history of the Logan Act. Not clear it is even Constitutional. I would note, by the way, that Obama, private citizen Obama, has been traveling overseas and meeting with foreign officials--a much more direct "violation" of the Logan Act than what Flynn did. And let's not even discuss young John Kerry's past Logan Act violations . . . Paris Peace Conference anyone?

I still see no sign that anybody is going to investigate blatant Mexican interference in our election.

To bed.

  1. Flynn got caught in the same perjury trap as Scooter Libby and Martha Stewart. The FBI has nothing. The whole thing was a setup by the Obama DoJ.

    1. It's worse than that. They caught Flynn not being truthful 100%... because the FBI had exact transcripts of Flynn's phone calls due to the wiretap(s). That should be sobering, but it gets lost in the news. Wiretapping a incoming administration...

  2. The only explanation I can come up with for the acquittal in the Steinle case is the prosecution acting like Willy Wonka protesting the antics of naughty children.

For the jury not to find guilt on the changes of negligent homicide or even assault? WTF? I can understand not convicting on murder, if you don’t see intent, but a woman was killed by his actions with a stolen firearm that he was in unlawful possession of. Even if you buy that it was an accidental discharge, the negligence charge still is valid.

A while back you told a story of your time in Guatemala about an unfortunate man who was apprehended in the U.S. and had something sized that he was suppose to deliver, and upon his return to Guatemala he disappeared. Perhaps something of that sort could be arranged for the killer of Kate Steinle when he is repatriated back to his country. It is a horrible thought, but it is how things work in many countries. Human life is not held in high regard in these places, nor apparently in San Francisco.

  3. Glad to hear the trip is going well. That first leg, CA-to-Flagstaff, has some beautiful scenery, especially during the last two hours. The next leg also has beautiful scenery. Then you get into the llano estacado and it can be pretty boring, unless the weather gives you a show. Pray that it does not -- they can be amazingly destructive.

I hope you saw the SF defense attorney's smug comments about Trump coming to appreciate the presumption of innocence, since he is under investigation. If we decide to send Zarate back to Mexico, I hope we do the same with the defense attorney.

Final note: if you can find a recording of it, look for a clip of Joy Behar being handed a "breaking news" note while on the air. She reads it out loud: "Flynn has plead guilty and will be testifying that Trump told him to meet with the Russian ambassador" or some such nonsense. She explodes in joy at the prospect of Trump being ousted. These people have not yet given up hope. It is sad.

  6. I'm guessing Flynn told the FBI the same thing he told Pence... got him fired, got him a plead-out. He screwed up, but how did this come about?
    1) Obama admin knew they were tapping Kislyak's phones
    2) Obama admin went on a sanctions binge after the election for no disclosed reason whatsoever.

    What changed?
My suspicion: Trump campaign got trolled... and like newbies, which they seem to be (to their credit), they got effectively phished.

We can be glad they didn't also respond to the former Nigerian Finance Minister's "dramatic escape from Africa" emails.

    1. I still cannot explain why Flynn did not realize he had been recorded. He ran NSA for years !

  7. I've been wondering, WHY doesn't the Trump folks show just how much the Mexican Government explicitly interfered and President Obama explicitly encouraged illegals to vote! IDK.. so much to say " look what they did ".. and you start to come across like a Kook... but they really did all this!

  9. Nice country in that neck o'the woods. Always seemed to have a prehistoric vibe to me. Thought about having a couple of life-sized velociraptor silouhettes made out of plywood, painted black and strategically placed peaking out from behind the pines next to the highway. Hilarity to ensue.

  10. Oh no, now they are beating this dead horse again.I guess that Trumps enemies keep the Putin/Russia collusion pot brewing and heats up the soup now and then in order to cheer up the MSM and confuse ordinary people. Right now was a perfect moment given Trumps triumph with the tax bill. Can´t let the president have such merry moments. I am sure there is nothing in the soup besides water and mouldy carrots.
By the way, I saw pictures of the Christmas decorated White House and it is absolutely beautiful, Melania and her assistants have done a splendid job. That lady has a great sense of style. I am proud to have such a European in the White House. I remember the Christmas decorations during the Obama-years. Pictures of Mao in the Christmas tree. Wait a minute, did these people even call this merry season "Christmas" ?

    1. I think the MSM is turning off more and more people by the hour. They have chosen a side and are revealing themselves. It took Trump to do it.

    2. Swedish, I am trying to convince myself that you imagined the Mao pictures on the tree, but you still made me laugh with that thought.

YES,it does give one a good feeling to know that the Commies are out of the People's House.I always felt petty for noticing the general tackiness of stuff Michelle did, but it was, really tacky, the sort of stuff that made us embarrassed for the Obamas, all the more so because they did not realize that they ought to be embarrassed. As you know, Americans have many faults, but snobbery is usually not one of them. But, imagine living down the street from them and seeing the fake African themes in their decor, and trying not to let on. I do believe it is easier for the women, or they are more talented at it: We guys, while our tastes are not so rarefied, we do see tacky as tacky and have a hard time dissembling.

  11. If the Republicans were smart they would be plastering Kate Steinle's face and story all over everything until the 2018 and 2020 elections. Sadly, I am pretty sure they will do no such thing. (sighing)

  12. Re: Trumps lack of judgement

Political campaigns require a lot of people who have some experience in a rather specialized area of expertise and it also requires a stable of experts in technical/policy areas. Staffing up such an endeavor is fraught with all kinds of pitfalls. Particularly in Trump's case since he was entering a world where he did not have much first hand experience and did not have a wide first-hand acquaintance with the people he would need . My guess is that a lot of these people were brought on with second and third hand recommendations from friends, relatives and existing staff. It is virtually guaranteed that a few clinkers would find their way into the mix. These would be of little or no interest whatsoever if Robert Mueller were not giving the Trump campaign and administration a thorough rectal exam looking at even the tiniest of issues.

  13. Hate to break it to the Progs but - it's just possible there's a more mundane explanation of what Flynn might've been doing.

"At the time, the U.N. Security Council resolution on Israeli settlements was a big deal. Even though the Obama administration had less than a month left in office, the president instructed his ambassador to the United Nations to abstain from a resolution, breaking a precedent that went back to 1980 when it came to one-sided anti-Israel resolutions at the U.N."

"This was the context of Kushner's instruction to Flynn last December. One transition official at the time said Kushner called Flynn to tell him he needed to get every foreign minister or ambassador from a country on the U.N. Security Council to delay or vote against the resolution. Much of this appeared to be coordinated also with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose envoys shared their own intelligence about the Obama administration's lobbying efforts to get member states to support the resolution with the Trump transition team."

Of course we mustn't upset the Prog's applecart I suppose. Everybody needs entertaining - juveniles especially.

  14. Now we have a new investigation that needs to happen. What did Mueller know about his underlings openly discussing their lack of objectivity in preferring Hillary over Trump? What did Comey know? When did they know it? Why was it not disclosed until months after certain FBI operatives were reassigned away from the case? Why wasn't this caught during the Hillary investigation? Did Comey also know about this during the Benghazi investigations?
Do these cases all need to be re-opened with objective investigators?

"Somewhat unfortunately" (as Diplomad knows full well revealing *classified after the fact* info can get one into as much trouble as "offering in comments" [on a blog] in as much trouble as ...)

Anyway. Here on Diplomad's blog aways back soon after Benghazi I presented "my opinion" that the guys did Benghazi (Ansar al Sharia) were in fact: AQ.

As evidence I offered AQ was in fact - as I later clarified for "Dearimies understanding ... "No AQ in Iraq/Iran." - I put it to the heart, "I disagree, after the East African embassy bombings, 'AQ scattered, Sudan ..."

Libya is merely the most "available" instantiation.

      Here's a guy understands What's What:

      http://www.nationalreview.com/article/454162/ahmed-abu-khatallah-trial-we-need-new-system-trying-terrorists

Everything we're seeing now goes back to AQ morphing. AQ/AQI/AQIS/AQAP/AQIM/IS - its all the same thing. Diplomad has what I stated (under the pseudonym "Arkie") was AQ in his blog (I've got it too: just that what I've archived is flash-recorded.

What's different now #1482 is, we've got The Patriot Act.

Ansar al Sharia was the label got Ambassador Stevens killed. But Ansar's just an iteration - Good Thing we contacted our Congress forcing Them to vote we could get Discovery on the Saudis (now if only we could get us [maybe] outta Incirlik - we do enjoy Qatar)

Anyway ... I've risked sufficiently ... Whitewall, James and I have discussed this previously.
