July 4, 2018, or 242 with 45

Another USA birthday, number 242, is coming up. Do not pay attention to the prog news mongers of the MSM. Contrary to all the dire news they run and (mostly) invent, things for ol' Uncle Sam aren't going too badly at all. The old codger has shown he's got quite a bit of life and spirit left. If anybody doubted it, they should not: the USA is back, back from that slimy, dank dungeon into which the progs and their nominal leader Obama were dragging us.

As readers know, my usual state is one of cynical pessimism, but I am having to tweak that mood just a bit.  The Anglo-Saxon creation that began in the late 16th century is till going and growing in strength. As I would habitually do back when I was somebody (sorta, just sorta) and played host at 4th of July receptions in the Far Abroad, on this July 4, I once again express my thanks to England. We were exceedingly fortunate in that it was hardy, ill-tempered, no-nonsense, humorless, unpleasant, and straight-talking and straight-shooting Englishmen and their acolytes (Scots, Irish, Welsh) who undertook the Great Experiment in North America. Look around at the rest of the world where others established colonies and their non-English rule; compare the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to them, and decide where you'd rather live. The Anglosphere is the best--and this verdict comes from somebody with not a touch of British, much less English blood or heritage.

Happy July 4, America! Remember the date on which two sets of Englishmen decided to fight over who was truer to what it meant to be English, and the English won.

Now, we have some weirdness in our midsts, of that there is no doubt. We have let our universities, once the most amazing institutions of learning on earth, drift away from our proud roots and become nurseries (in all senses of the word) for some of the stupidest, most self-destructive thought and behavior imaginable.

If 90% of university professors were suddenly to stop going to work, would ordinary, decent people even notice? What if our kids could not study "Gender Studies"? What if they were not lectured non-stop about the patriarchy and the need to destroy it? What if they no longer heard non-stop, again, about the evils of Western (white) civilization? Would the engines of the economy shut down? Would rampant hunger and chaos break out? Would we be bereft of Starbucks baristas?

Let me take this opportunity to thank President Trump, ol' Number 45. Never in my life have I seen a person more equipped to be President. He was the right person at the right time, in fact, just in time. He has made the prog crazies show their craziness in its full Rainbow flag glory. Had Hillary become president, the craziness would have been there, but it would have been in power and much more stealthy. Thanks to Trump we have a chance to see, examine, and stop the insanity and save the country. I hope we take that shot. God bless the electoral college.

To the grill!

I also need to try out my brand new Ruger Mini-14 chambered in .223/5.56 Nato. A wickedly beautiful weapon which reminds me of my old M-1 carbine, but scarier.

Reminds me of The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China during the late 60's. Easy to start but hard to control.

Have a good one and be safe.

  3. I had a mini-14. I traded it in and upgraded to an EBR. (Evil Black Rifle, aka AR-15)

Other then the mini-14, I like Ruger products and have several. I also like Sig products as well. Of course, Sig's plant is about a 45 minute drive from my home.

    Just say'n. :D

  5. The Mini-14 has a certain je ne sais quois. I think the wood stock and blued finish is far nicer than the black plastic & stainless version.

  9. If the Democratic Party had just a bit of honesty it would rename itself the Progressive Party.
Real Democrats are now very few and very far between.
If John Kennedy were to come back today, he would look around and declare "Holy crap I'm a Republican".

  13. Happy 4th of July to you, too, sir! My last 07/04 abroad was in Guangzhou, China--in the last, best hope for 20th century totalitarianism. That made me appreciate the origins of this country all the more (and my family is part Chinese, for the record).

    1. I spent a 4th of July in England in 1995, on USAF business. I thought I was working that day (it's not a British holiday...) but the guys said no, no, take your holiday off. I was already in uniform, so whatever. Just took a train to London and walked around town in my Air Force blues. Very friendly reception at the Tower of London, thanks to a guard there who was able to offer a special 100% military discount just for me. It's a great place to visit.

  14. Yes, the Anglosphere had the best heritage and therefore went forward with the best ideas. We are natural allies. We recognize that in one way: the 5 Eyes sigint intelligence alliance whereby all electronic intelligence globally is cooperatively collected and analyzed and shared among all. But politically, the founding member, Britain, wants to cast its lot with, in my opinion, an inhospitable Europe and in my opinion, is rotting within. To some degree, we all are, as progressives have succeeded in getting their policies implemented and destroying our cultural norms.

Donald Trump is a miracle. Only he could have beat Hillary and only he is actually delivering things. No other person had his agenda - the best ever for America - and no other person would have thought in terms of deliverables - getting his pronises done, delivering on his promises. I fervently hope for Trump's safety and that he serves two terms.

The left has truly gone crazy and the more Trump succeeds the more there will be violence. Violence is inevitable. Is it going to be confined to mobs of radicals or are we at complete civil war?

    1. I said Britain wants to cast its lot witw Europe. I am certainly aware of Brexit. That doesn't change my statement. In my opinion. the political class in Britain will still do everything it can to sabotage Brexit and keep Britain tied to the EU however it can.

    2. "Donald Trump is a miracle."
The Lord works in mysterious ways. I had very low expectations of Trump in the primaries, and voted reluctantly for him, mainly against Hillary. Now I see a president who says some weird stuff from time to time, and yet is fighting harder for real Republican goals in so many ways than so many others did or would in his shoes.

  15. There's that dirty, hidden racism behind progressivism.. it's 'jim crow', it's 'affirmative action', it's eugenics take-two.

'affirmative action' is race-based, rather than means-based, because the progressive goal is to show people that being even a poor white person is better than being a black person.
Progressivism should fall into darkness with weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  16. i spent this 4th of july traveling from poland to the u.k. these days the former clearly and comfortably carries more of western civilization than the latter. with may and trudeau hectoring trump nonstop, and mi6/gchq possibly up to their keisters in the trump dossier, im unsure how i feel about the anglosphere these days. as for rugers, love the single action revolvers in any flavor!

    1. GCHQ is definitely involved in coup against Trump, Its head resigned right after Trump's surprise victory. The Guardian newspaper has run several stories about its involvement, as well as various U.S. sources. Plus, personally, as a serious hobby follower of 5 Eyes for several decades, for whatever it's worth, I knew HCGQ could do intercepts as a favor for the Obama Admin.I posted on this blog many months ago that the Brits were involved. I thought the Obama Admin.would have the Brits do the electronic spying and thereby get around any issue of FISA warrants. I was wrong in that guess. The number of people surveilled turned out to be far beyond what could be passed on to the Brits.

MI6 is also involved. Aside from other things that have leaked, think about Steele. He was a high ranking manager in MI6 in charge of one of its most important desks. Presumably he retired with a pension. Presumably he would not jeopardize that pension. Presumably getting involved in dirty tricks and free lance covert work with American intel agencies in the U.S. presidential election against one candidate is usually frowned upon and would make Steele a rogue ex-spy and jeopardize his pension - UNLESS he had some sort of official permission. I mean, think about it. Would a high ranking former intel official on a pension get involved as Steele did without permission from the gov't paying his pension? The May gov't was tweeting disparaging remarks about Trump, despite his support for Brexit and GCHQ was spying on Trump/Trump campaign/associates. So permission, I think, would not have been hard to get. I think common sense says the May gov't knew about Steele and gave him permission to do what he did. Diplomad might comment on this.

    2. Asher, As you'll see from some earlier posts, I had resisted that conclusion about GCHQ and the May government, but, I am coming around to your view.

  17. If you have seen the vitriol in posts or tweets of angry progressives whenever they are responding to someone who is white, the being white is a major sin besides whatever the person said that made them angry. Truly. Half the vitriol in most responses will be about whatever the person said but the other half will be about the person being white and whites being nazis or something else evil. If the person has an anglo name, responders assume he/she is white. The person tries to tell responders he/she is black or asian, but that doesn't stop the vitriol. Very few responses are reasoned arguments; the huge majority are just furious f**k you, you white nazi type vitriol.

In my post above I asked whether we are going to have a civil war. When you read what progressives post, it certainly seems like we are going to have a race war. These posts, which are ubiquitous, are very frightening in terms of America's future.

    1. I still think the heart of progressivism is racism against non-whites. It's a good adage that those who protest the loudest against something are the biggest transgressors of it, and I think that applies here. If they *really* felt the need to help others, they'd do something, rather than sit around demanding other people do it for them. They feel helpless and incompetent, which is how we get whining, instead of the kind of change they claim to want. When they pat themselves on the back for getting someone elected (Obama) rather than doing something of value on their own, it's almost too pathetic to recognize.

I doubt there will be a civil war out of the progressives... they're happy playing camp-out in their 'occupy' crap so long as their parents have their financial backs, but they're not actually seasoned for any kind of difficult conflict. Look at what happened with the Dakota Access Pipeline... their signature protest for like a year, including tons and tons of garbage and derelict cars left in their wake? But ask any progressive and the 'protest' was a massive success (pipeline opened commercially June 2017 *gulp*). They 'speak truth to power'... when there are no possible consequences for their actions or words. They don't even recognize how wrong their claim on that phrase is.

I do fear that large sections of the extant christian church are going to be getting driven out/shut down by the government. Bringing Trump in probably delayed that by his term(s) plus an additional 8+ years while progressivism gets back on its feet. That won't be dangerous in the 'true believer' circles, but it will be in the more 'cultural christianity' segments. Maybe there'll be a civil war coming out of there.

I just can't see these groups of millennials doing much other than whining a bit in public preen their virtue-signaling skills and then going back to their game consoles and porn. I have listened to their crap on SF bay area KPFA/Pacifica Radio for years, but I did so in some form of 'intelligence gathering' attempt, yet it was a complete waste of time. Incompetence is the rule there, not the exception.

  19. Fingers crossed for the future of the American Experiment. There are indeed some current good signs, and also some worrying trends. It is worth pondering what it would take to kill the siren song of the Big Intrusive Government types?

When Karl Marx developed his theories of Communism in the 19th Century, they were just that -- theories. Now we have seen the repeated failure of applied Leftism around the globe -- and the millions of dead citizens piled around its failures. The Soviet Union, the National Socialists in Germany, Pol Pot, North Korea, even the failure of leftist regimes in Argentina, Venezuela, and much of Africa. The very few relative bright spots in the Leftist universe -- China and Vietnam -- have achieved progress for their people only by abandoning Leftism in all but name.

Faced with all those undeniable lessons from the School of Hard Knocks, how can any intelligent person pretend that the future lies in adopting disproved 19th Century theories? Yet the world is full of people who still espouse Leftism.

Short of actually teaching history (unfortunately verboten in modern schools), is there any way to change those people's minds?

    1. Gavin,
leftism will always be with us as long as human nature is what it is. Envy, greed, resentment, hate and lust for control of others seem to drive the left. Leaving people alone and at peace is a hard sell to this ideology.

It has often been said that a conservative hopes for a world without threat but a Leftist hopes for a world without opposition. Subtle but different.
