Sick of "Compelling"

This past week of American politics has to have been one of the most wretched in my lifetime. The ceaseless and unwarranted attacks on Judge Kavanaugh have exposed the evil lynch mob that lives within and controls the modern Democrat party. A couple of years ago I wrote about how the Democrat party is increasingly appealing to its whackier elements; that seems to hold true. Even longer ago, in 2014, I wrote, "The Democrats have been organizing and leading lynch mobs for 150 years." I also noted, in 2015, that, "In the old days, Democrat-led lynch mobs terrorized the rural South; today, Democrat-led lynch mobs terrorize all of urban America." This week's Senate hearings bear that out

The Kavanaugh hearings are a disgrace.

The majority of the Democrat contingent in the Senate is completely deranged. I find, however, even more deranged the prog media-echo chamber and the so-called pundits. Don't know about you, but I am sick and very tired of hearing about how Ford's testimony was "compelling." Who cares? Have we become such a Hollywood nation that we rate the believability of accusations on whether they are put forward in a "compelling" manner? Including, I would note, in a weird sort of 13-year old's squeaky voice which cannot be Dr. Ford's natural voice.

I am not concerned whether an accuser cries and whimpers at the right time; I want evidence.

Where's the evidence in all of this? None. Zip. Nada. What evidence does Dr. Ford and her well-funded backers have to support her somewhat weird and gap-filled account of a supposed sexual assault some 36 years ago? Certainly no forensic evidence; no police or medical reports from that era; no precise date; no identified crime scene; and, of course, not one witness who will corroborate her account. It is a drive-by character assassination pure and simple.

Now, thanks to some GOP fecklessness, we have a new FBI "investigation" that is SUPPOSED to last one week. An investigation of what, exactly? Let's start with the obvious: who in their right mind would trust today's FBI to conduct a politically charged "investigation" in a fair-and-balanced manner? Moving on from that, in the best of cases, the FBI "investigation" will consist of interviews of the same people that the Senate Committee has interviewed and a report that will lay out what each said; we already know what they said, unless the Dems start to "find" new witnesses. Then what? Who wants to bet that the Dems will demand several more days to evaluate the FBI investigation. In the meantime, of course, more false accusers will come forth.

This is a disaster for our Republic. This is not McCarthyism--McCarthy had evidence--this is the Salem Witch Trials, mass hysteria; this is what the Dems have always been good at . . . a lynch mob.

  2. The Democrats have created a situation in which any male--left, right, or center, who votes for them would be slitting his own throat.

Look for more vote fraud than usual at the midterms to make up for the deficit.

    3. One Brow--

I don't think that at all. It takes quite a jerk to assert that about a stranger.

And even if you do treat women as well as you claim, the political situation is now such that that doesn't matter. You too, can be accused, and many will insist your accuser is to be believe, so you should have worries.

    4. Brett,

It's unfortunate you think that I'm a jerk.

However, you also seem to think that random women are going to make unsubstantiated accusations for no reason other than to have/get revenge. Apparently, you think so little of women that you don't even think, for the most part, they are trying to buckle down and get the work done, just like the rest of us. So, compared to your apparent view of women, your view of me is an easy burden to bear.

I can be accused. Why would I be?

    5. Telling others what they think is the hallmark of a jerk. Your imaginations about me are fantasies deserving no rebuttal.

Why might you be accused? You demonstrated a nasty character in our very first interaction. I'm sure people in your real life are quite aware of it.

    6. This puzzles me:
"Outside of sexual assault, for how many crimes do consider eyewitness testimony to not be evidence?"

An "eyewitness" is a bystander who observes an activity, who witnesses it with his own eyes. What you have in the Kavanaugh claim, however, is a purported victim. No eyewitness. There has been no evidence presented, either physical, testimonial, or circumstantial, that supports Ford's allegations with regard to Kavanaugh.

    7. If I have misdiagnosed what you think, I'll accept the correction. After all, there is a reason I included "seem to". I agree I don't know what you think. I only know what you type. However, since you didn't bother to rebut, I don't have much reason to alter my opinion at this juncture. Sure, you were outraged/angry/whatever, but you would have been if I were right or wrong.

So, just out of curiosity, what did you mean by "any male--left, right, or center, who votes for them would be slitting his own throat", focusing in particular on the "any", if you don't mind. Why would *any* male, as opposed to a certain subset, "be slitting his own throat"?

As for my personality in meatspace, you'll never find out.

Forgive my lack of legal expertise, please. Feel free to change the question to "Outside of sexual assault, for how many crimes do consider victim testimony to not be evidence?" (naturally excluding the crimes that had no victim at all, or have no victim left to testify).

    9. One BrowOctober 2, 2018 at 8:17 PM

Yes, that's a much more accurate inquiry. Victim testimony would, indeed, I think, be evidence, to be considered & weighed for its truth or falsity within the totality of ALL the evidence presented, both corroborating (none here) and contradictory (by way of example only, alleged "witnesses" deny having any knowledge or memory of what's been alleged.)

This is an interesting comment. "As someone who has treated women professionally and with respect, I have no such worries."
I'm sure that Judge Kavanaugh thought the same, once upon a time.

I'm sure that Judge Kavanaugh thought the same, once upon a time.

I'm sure you are correct. I am only a couple of years older than Kavanaugh, also having attended a Catholic school and played a couple of sports. While I didn't drink, I was every bit as sexist back then as Kavanaugh was. I have no doubt that if you go back to some of the women I dated in my teens (girls then, women now), they could say some awful things about me, I cringe at them. We were raised to think of men as predators and women as prey, and we absorbed that message and acted upon it. Behavior like that doesn't improve when people get drunk.

Should any of them choose to confront me over my behavior today, I would recognize that it was horrible, that I was neither justified nor entitled to treat people that way, and apologize. Had Kavanaugh the courage and maturity to do the same thing, he would have my respect at the very least.

  3. The Democrats are hoping that FBI questioning will show the slightest inconsistency from statements the witnesses have submitted. This gives the Democrats a new means of delaying. I am hoping that there are enough folks that think these kinds of tactics are detestable and show up to vote to prevent these creatures from gaining power.

Scant mention was made of this in the hearings, but it does explain why Ms. Blasey Ford was so certain of her memories; they were, after all, recent in manufacture. This is why there is no evidence, for example, and no concurrent witnesses to collaborate her tale.

It is about time that the legal profession take note of this fraud and ban its use in any public setting.

I'd be a lot more sympathetic to Dr. Blasey-Ford if there were people who could corroborate--"It was a so-and-so's house at such and such a time of the year..." But there is no such evidence. Further, had there been, Kavanaugh would be facing an attempted rape charge to be tried in a jurisdiction that would be more sympathetic to the accuser than any other in the land.

I lean towards seeing these "witnesses" against Kavanaugh's character as guilty of bearing false witness against a neighbor.

  7. The Left, has over time cornered the market on Direct Action DA confrontations. Seems to me, they've won more of these skirmishes than they've lost, mostly because the leadership on the Right caves under the pressure, as the mass media misrepresents the facts of the matter. Vocal groups of gullible and barely literate paid provocateurs spout the talking points from the Democrat prepared script, and wave their mass-produced signage, even dim-witted wild-eyed students are recruited, and more than willing to perform for the cameras, just to get on the Fake News. Predictably as the news cycle is spun-up to increase the heat on the GOPe, those weak kneed poll Cats begin to wilt and join-in the Lynching already in progress!

Of course over time the actual truth comes out and the FAKE news and the FAKE victims, and the FAKE politicians are all revealed to be... ummm how should I say it, oh yeah, FAKE! Unfortunately, for some of those paid pretenders tho, they come up against LEOs or Guardsmen with a duty to protect and defend life and property from thugs and rioting fools. Oh well, but some kids and adults too, NEVER get to LEARN, that the DA trouble makers, have no compunction about turning fools into fodder! And so it goes... at least until the reality of bullets, makes the remaining fools aware of the untenable position they've allowed themselves to be drawn into. Sadly, I often think of that photo of a girl at Kent State, just when she got to see what a young man with his mouth shot off looks like in death -- what a waste... but predictable when you realize that the political thugs implementing the DA tactics, have succeeded in their immediate mission. ~~~On Watch~~~

It is my analysis that POTUS, certain key Congressional players, and white hat law enforcement investigators will catch the Dems in some misdeeds in the SCOTUS nomination debacle.

Already there are some hints at that intent. Trump said that this kinvestigation) be a "blessing in disguise". There has been a referral from Congress to AG Sessions regarding the leaking of the accuser's letter to the media. Therw is a call for investigation of the accure's attorneys by the DC Bar Association due to not informing her of the option of testifying at home out of the spotlight. It was disclosed that Sen Flake called DAG Rosenstein before flipping and calling for a delay. And more..

Putting the puzzle pieces together, I expect there will be legal impacts that land on the Dems from this situation. The good guys know that the Dems MUST be taught that this playbook no longer works.

Thank you for all that you do Diplomad. Keep up the good fight, you are making a difference.

She is groped and runs out, by herself, leaving her friend behind with the boys that just groped her. This is not how 15 year olds behave. The Dems claim there was nothing about the party that would make it memorable to her friend. That's a lie. The friend would have noticed if she was there with a bunch of boys by herself. 3. Teri, whom I presume is female, is correct. When that happens, run to safety is the natural, best and expected response. Without cellphones and the 9-1-1 system first being rolled out, why wouldn’t she go to her friend first? Panic? Once she’s Outside the home and has a moment to calm down, would her thoughts not first go to her friend, still in the house with the danger she just fled? What about her purse? After such a traumatic experience, her safety would be foremost in her mind, so she would think of her friend first and seen her out first.

As to whether my blog contains serious discussion, I leave that to any reader who cares to visit it (my blog is not monetized in any way, so I don't benefit from any visit any person may make).

Anonymous, if you don't see that the most common position on this blog is that liberals are unaware and unknowing concerning what is really happening, and the conservatives are the ones with the real truth, I'm not sure how to help you in that regard.

I don't recall attacking the person at any point and I scrupulously avoid doing so. I may have attacked a form or two (I don't recall such examples, but it's certainly in my nature to do so in the rough-and-tumble of places like this).

If you would really like a serious, detailed discussion on some topic, and I feel I am knowledgeable to offer such discussion on that topic, I'm game. What did you have in mind?

  23. I'm pretty ambivalent about the kav process now. I felt there was an opportunity to drop the nomination when Feinstein came out with her masterstroke. I am still not privy to the details as they turn my stomach, but from the headlines, it does not appear that any contemporary allegations are forthcoming. At this point, it's his word against hers. If she's telling the truth (even if I have suspicions either way on whether she's telling the truth, I don't have any reliable *proof* that she's being honest or dishonest), that's a travesty of justice, but it wouldn't be the first.
I was hoping there would be more evidence of either kind (damning or exculpatory), but there isn't... it appears to be only he-said-she-said. It sucks, but it's reality. I wonder what Trump's getting done while th emedia is all circling this circus and not paying attention?

    1. "I felt there was an opportunity to drop the nomination when Feinstein came out with her masterstroke"...? Drop it hell. This is political warfare and you don't drop anything but the other side. This 'confirmation' tragedy is the flash point for many of our cultural divisions. This DiFi stunt was conspiracy to stop the Judge by other means. Nothing more. It is the nature of the Democrat and his tactics.

On the other front, Trump is getting a new 'Nafta' done but more importantly, I suspect there will be news from the DOJ that the MSM will try to bury.

    3. I dunno... Gorsuch was equally opposed and didn't face this kind of thing. If Kav were dropped and another strong conservative were put up, and yet more such things came out, it might signal 'a new strategy'. But the dems are very unlikely to take the senate this year, so the GOP really has all the time in the world.... if they managed to stop kav, why not appoint an even-more conservative judge in his wake?

I'm less concerned now... in the early days of the big reveal, I was expecting various associates to come out of the woodwork making accusations.... didn't happen.

I still think the GOP should have known the details of what was going to happen and been prepared.

  24. you are right there, but being caught flatfooted is the m/o of the day for Republicans. They can't believe how low the Dem will go until they do. They are digging their way through just being trash on the way to becoming political sewage. After that, some of their desperate useful idiots will, in the name of "the cause", resort to bullets.

  25. It's been thirty-four years since I spent appreciable time in New Zealand so, I have to ask any of the knowledgeable southern hemisphere visitors/commentors to Mr. Amselem's:

Can the social services of Kiwiland handle Ms. Ruth Bader's promised horde of new immigrants?

  26. Too many sheep down>>-->there! Baa Baa this Baa Baa that! Give me the land where the Coyotes and the Alligators prowl, btw, do Buffalo still roam way out in the wild West? With special regard for the Kiwis, thinking that once upon a time, their guests had to pay their own way to get an invite too stay...

Beyond that, I'd have a very itchy feeling living in the same neck o' the woods as the ChiComs, hell look at the mischief they've gotten into the USA already this year-- DiFi, Apple, and Amazon! Pretty soon we'll all be working for Dolla General, and prolly have our back-doors cracked & CHIPed! No tanks, nowhere to run_nowhere to hide baby, and we still need multi-generations of election landslides just to send the worst of the uninvited back to wherever the hell they came from -- forgetabout getting the Jihadis and Jinn back in the bottle! Hard enough just to keep them off the plane!

So much work to do, so little time, and way to damn many hurricanes lately! Oh well, I'll be tickled pink if Mike Pence gets to cast the deciding vote on the newest justice! L@^@ing for decades of wise and well reasoned judicial decisions from Brett Kavanagh to justify all the ammo we expended defending him, his family, and our Constitution! Go Supremes! On Watch~~~

    1. Well OW, you're probably right.

On another topic (and ordinarily I'd hate to admit I even contemplated doing so but) last evening I watched Tingles Matthews - which as I was wearying I did have to go to Tucker to invigorate myself before I figured I could watch all the way through - Rachel Maddow. (Matter of fact I'm tuned into MSNBC even as I type).

Anyway. I never would have thought watching these crybabies could be so enjoyable.

In my boyhood Arkansas the old-timers used to have an old-saying went something like this, I ain't had this much fun since the hogs ate my little brother! Now I think I understand more fully just what they meant.
