And Ukraine? Some Innocent Questions

Just a quick Sunday note with some questions.

Have you noticed how the mass media have gone almost totally silent on the war in Ukraine?

What happened to the sturdy and brave, nay, stallworthy newsmen and women, wearing imitation combat kit, standing in front of some building in Kiev telling us in stentorian tones about the battle to come for the capital of Ukraine? What happened? No news gatherers imbedded with the "victorious" Ukrainian forces inflicting defeat after defeat on the evil Russkies? All we see are tired old politicos and grade B actors from America and Europe visiting Zelensky, when he is not posing for Vogue, that is.

What's going on with the billions in weapons the US and NATO supposedly have sent to Ukraine? Where are they? Who has them?

We censored nearly all reporting out of Russia, have we now censored nearly all reporting out of Ukraine?

Kind of like pandemic and Trump-Putin collusion reporting. Poof!

  1. Well, there was an awful lot of taxpayer money dumped into what has been known as the most corrupt country in the world over the last few months. A place that the DC Swamp has been running a money laundry system for years. Now it looks like they are running one last big load. Stuffing their pockets like they know the gravy train is going to end. It's the same here, with all the "Green" money. Nothing but handouts to the left to keep them monied and to use that money to keep Democrats in power.

  5. "What happened to the sturdy and brave, nay, stallworthy newsmen and women, wearing imitation combat kit, standing in front of some building in Kiev...?" WLA

Suspect that, once it sunk in, that those US/UKrBio/Chem weapons labs, still stunk, and were not simply, vestiges of old news 'clean-up' projects--- but were as reported, by "Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland blew a hole in that denial by admitting before Congress that “biological research laboratories” in Ukraine have been funded and operated under the direction of the U.S., and that she was “very concerned” about the contents of those labs being used as bioweapons by the Russians."

I mean, how dirty, could the Leftist media mavens, afford to become in those BIG searching eyes of MAGA America?

Here's s'more of piece, which uses various sources, including InfoWars, so be sure to wear your cups and masks before wrangling:
    "Ever-changing narrative reveals the lies

As noted by Shroyer, the official narrative surrounding the Ukraine biolabs has undergone multiple iterations over the past few weeks. It began with a flat denial of there being U.S. biolabs in Ukraine.

But within days, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland blew a hole in that denial by admitting before Congress that “biological research laboratories” in Ukraine have been funded and operated under the direction of the U.S., and that she was “very concerned” about the contents of those labs being used as bioweapons by the Russians.

Despite Nuland’s concern about the pathogens being used in warfare, the Western media have tried to claim the labs were set up to destroy bioweapons from the Soviet era, or to “secure” old Soviet bioweapons, or that they’re diagnostic labs, “health labs,” biodefense laboratories, or that they’re used for vaccine development. The story changes depending on who’s telling it.

  6. It is passing strange, how Ukraine has vanished from the news.

    1. Quite strange. Very little is believable about this war except that it wasn't the slam dunk Vlad thought it would be. As far as emotion and enthusiasm, the public has only a limited capacity. If it isn't over in 44 minutes of broad casting, well, people return to the recession our government dropped on us on purpose.

    2. Putin definitely *could* have taken Kiev in two weeks as he had previously suggested, but it would ahve required deploying a nuclear warhead of some type. It's tough for me to remember that Putin's *still* fighting with kid gloves on, but it's true. He's willing to lose tens of thousands of troops instead of unleashing the first nuclear attack since 1945. Well... either that, or their nukes don't work any more... ours may not either

  8. I still frequently see reports on Ukraine from British sources turn up on my list of recommended viewing items on YouTube. I don't trust the videos so I don't bother watching them. But YouTube keeps finding fresh ones to recommend depicting the supposed latest lop-sided encounters between clueless Russians and outnumbered but skilled plucky Ukrainian soldiers.

  9. It's been clear to me from the reporting that Ukraine has been losing this war badly for at least two months.
What's not being well reported or recognized up top is that Russia appears to be fine "doing it the Russian way" after clearly failing to take Ukraine in 'the modern/shock-and-awe way."
That Ukraine was not routed at the beginning is a testament to US military advisers sent in during the last 8 years.
Lately, there's not been much to publish. Since Russia winning sverodonetsk and lysychansk (butchered probably), the Russian military appears to be settling up for a push to take Mykolaiv and Odesa.
"The Donbas Strategy" is to systematically flatten and depopulate an area, then send colonists. This is the only real lesson Xi is taking from the conflict in how to deal with Taiwan.
Unfortunately a bunch of US idiots are still jabbering on to Taiwan about it has to become a 'porcupine'.
It might well become a porcupine.... but like a porcupine, be roasted on a spit by a top-of-food-chain predator like Xi.

    1. Sorry, I meant to say: The Biden administration doesn't want to talk about Ukraine because Ukraine is losing badly, so instead they talk about 'how much more badly they could have lost without our hesitating assistance.' It's really the same crap as touting "jobs saved or created" from the prior spending binge. It's something people only resort to when the *actual* problem is not abating as wished.

  10. Interesting times. We don't know what is happening in the Ukraine, except that Kiev is clearly not winning. Something is stirring in Serbia, which "defensive alliance" NATO bombed for over 70 days straight not so long ago. And now we have Nancy Pelosi (whom we all assume is on the Chinese Communist Party payroll) triggering an incident in Taiwan.

In case I don't get the chance to say this later -- Dip, I have really appreciated your insights & comments. Thanks.

  12. Please wake up, people. I’m now in Taiwan seeing relatives. There’s a kind of fatalism that the Mainland will continue to threaten, a brave official face, and a range of attitudes from give up now to being ready to spill the last drop of blood

We live in a dangerous and nasty world; and Russia and China are nasty players. Both are sinks of jackboot nationalism coupled with an implacable grievance mentality. China’s mind is “now it’s our turn”. The USA needs to admit that its constructive engagement with the last, best hope for 20th century totalitarianism has not worked. We have to admit that giving China our economy was a near-fatal mistake and take steps to rebuild our own economy now.

    1. Preaching to the choir. Only idiots are encouraging Taiwan take up "the porcupine defense" (Max Boot is one of these idiots, I think). Xi finds porcupines tasty for sure. China aims not to invade Taiwan, it aims to flatten Taiwan and re-colonize it.
