"If you've got a business—you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
President Barack Obama, expressing his hatred for America last week.
By now, I am sure all of you have read or seen the President's Roanoke speech of last Friday in which he explained clearly, unambiguously, and with no hesitation his view that all we have in America is thanks to government and some sort of collectivist impulse. He has revealed once and for all, not even the most obtuse can now deny it, his complete misunderstanding of our history and culture. He has bought on whole hog to the liberal notion that FDR or LBJ type programs made this country and are crucial for its continued survival. The individual is merely a cog, and he or she can claim no achievement except for being the grateful recipient of government largesse.
Our President appeals to and seeks to console the lazy, the incompetent, the unimaginative, the dole-receiver that he or she is really no different from the man or the woman who invests money, and pours his or her heart and soul into building a business or designing a new product or service.
Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Kim il-Sung would have been proud of our president, "You have learned well my little grasshopper."
It is now abundantly clear as I wrote last May, that this election will be one between the taxpayers and the voters, between those who produce and those who take. Obama has make it abundantly clear where he comes down.
What did you expect? He's been endorsed by the Communist party USA and various socialist parties.
ReplyDeleteWhat's really surprising, to me anyway, is that a Comm-symp President is still looking at 50 percent of the vote. Which means that the country is very very sick and the medicine it needs isn't more RINO.
More sleight of hand from Obama the Faker.
ReplyDeleteIt should not surprise that Obama is still looking at 50% of the vote. That is about the percentage of people who pay no income tax. Too many have no skin in the game so it is easy to understand why the socialist holds favor with so many. For those people, everything is going along as planned.
As for our faux president I have this to say... I built it and you cannot have it. Read that as a cold, dead fingers type comment.
Nothing new here. Obama called GM bondholders "speculators" while destroying their contractual rights. They received 10 cents on the dollar while the UAW got its pension system funded. There are countless other instances of his scorched earth policies yet his electoral base is around 45 percent. This country's in a very deep hole.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. The only thing that has changed is that the temperature of the water has gone up. Will the frog react before it is too late?
DeleteSocial contracts are set somewhat arbitrarily. When you get married you undertake certain responsibilities about what will happen if the marriage breaks up. If one person earns and the other keeps house, then the earner will likely have to pay alimony if there is a divorce. Is this fair? Is it good for society?
ReplyDeleteIf a person starts a company and hires workers, the responsibilities of the owner to the employees is determined according to social custom, well, law that reflects social custom. However it is arbitrary. Why aren't employees guaranteed equity for their work? Artists had to demand royalties but now we consider it only fair that they get them. Why don't engineers or royalties from their companies? Because they don't demand them and force owners to pay them.
However what Obama wants is rich people to pay more taxes to make the government more powerful. If he cared about workers he would be discussing the social contract between workers and employers not about taxes.
And Romney did a very good job today reminding the American people that the only job Obama is interested in saving is his own.
ReplyDeleteGenerally agree with the other commenters here, except to say the polling predictions seen are deliberate prevarications designed to keep as many faithful on the reservation as long as possible - maybe even up to November. Google early polling numbers between Carter and Reagan. Ronnie never stood a chance.
ReplyDeleteI think the issue is not so much as who deserves credit for the creation of business and wealth as it is how do you organize a society and economy to produce the most wealth for the most people. Free market capitalism is the way to do that.
ReplyDeleteObama's approach is to use money to obtain political support. But that is eventually going to bankrupt the country as we see happening in Europe. If you take money from productive people and use it to pay people who are unproductive you create incentives to be unproductive. I'm not saying we shouldn't have a social safety net - but Obama's way of doing it might get him votes but it is not sustainable in the long term.
Here is a good reply to Obama...

"Did the taxpayers, including business taxpayers, not pay for that road when it was built? Why should they have to pay for it twice?"
etc etc
"One of the tricks of professional magicians is to distract the audience's attention from what they are doing while they are creating an illusion of magic. Pious talk about "giving back" distracts our attention from the cold fact that politicians are taking away more and more of our money and our freedom."
