Back!
Long gruesome drive. Got back much later than I thought from Vegas. I will try to have something up that is interesting, enlightening, nonfattening, brilliant . . . nah . . . I'll just try to have something up soon, no reason to change now.
Adult diapers [I guess you mean nappies]. Nuh, not that old yet :-)
Just seems to be more idiots on the road than when I was but a youngster.
Having said that SWMBO, dogs and self are planning a 1700 km [1,056 mile] drive from Melbourne to Brisbane early next year to see our niece and her family. I guess that qualifies as long distance.
But I guess all things are relative. My now departed elder sister used to drive 200 km from the mining town of Moranbah, Qld, to Mackay on the coast to do her grocery shopping once every two weeks. A round trip of 400km for a carton of milk - well several cartons.
Yes, nappies I guess. I call over 500 miles a long drive now a days. Around here, we have too many distracted drivers: driving while texting, driving while on the phone, driving while having no business with a drivers license. I can't imagine driving those miles just for some groceries. Tires me to think about it.
Breaker Morant is a fascinating story in real life and worth a read. The circumstances surrounding the execution of Peter Handcock and Harry Morant by the British resulted in our fledgling country [we were Federated in 1901] banning the use of capital punishment within our Armed Forces. That ban remains in force.
"A Town Like Alice" is a good book [author Neville Schute] and a good film.
Man you are getting close! Be sure to check your forehead for that third 6. Re Cuba, I read where they are planning to set up "capitalism zones" across the island. Obama may be enthralled by this and wants to wait and see if such a dangerous venture might bear fruit. Cuba Libre!
Perhaps you can give us a primer on Wendy Sherman? The former Social Worker who negotiated the 1994 nuclear deal with NorK, established the CRA policy at Fannie Mae in 1996 that led to the housing collapse, and is now the lead negotiator with Iran regarding their nuclear program. Assuming you knew her or knew of her.
Wow, what a horrific track record of epic failures?! how do people like this continue to be placed in positions of such monumental importance to the country?! It is like the powers that be are actively trying to make us fail!! Having read this I get such a warm, fuzzy feeling that the deal Lurch made with Iran is just as great as he is bragging (sarc). Dip, if you have any insight on this Wendy character please share, I'd be interested to find out more about the woman helping to send us to hell in a hand basket.
