Far fetched? Maybe, but Obama is certainly not going out quietly and with class. He will not replicate George W. Bush's graceful exit and subsequent political silence. At his FINAL (?) press conference, Obama's lack of class, grace, and reflection, and the absence of any sense of personal responsibility shone brightly. He performed before the pet journalists of the White House press
Worse, however, than the evident narcissism and delusion on display at the presser, and in his even more pompous "farewell" address, Obama has taken actions in his last days in power to make life much more difficult for President Trump and for America, including his outrageous commutation of Manning's 35-year prison sentence. Manning should have been left to rot.
While Trump will quickly dismantle most if not all of Obama's absurd Presidential Directives, Obama has set down IED's for the new administration in foreign affairs. Obama's last minute discovery, for example, that Russia has interests of its own and that they do not necessarily coincide with ours will create long-term problems. The dispatch of US troops, for example, to Poland in the waning days of this horrid misadministration sets up a dilemma for Trump. If he leaves the troops there, the job of reaching out to Russia becomes all the more difficult. If he pulls them out, he will be accused of being a Putin puppet, out to destroy NATO. This is not a problem without resolution, but it is an unnecessary one. Likewise, the Obama/Kerry/ Powers last-minute blitz on the Middle East in which the US has sided openly with the corruptocrats and terrorists of the so-called Palestine Authority, and placed Israel's core interests at risk in exchange for, well, nothing, sets up Trump for an immediate clash with the Arabs, the UN, and, potentially, our ally Israel who feels betrayed. Israel and our own interests have been betrayed not only by Obama's actions at the UN but by the fake Iran deal, (go here, here and here, for example) that legitimizes and helps fund terrorist Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons. Trump will now have to deal with a surging Iran. In East Asia, of course, the Obama misadministration has so mishandled relations with our allies there, including Philippines, that the new administration will have an even more difficult time than necessary in dealing with the growing threat from China. In the Americas, Obama has up-ended decades of US policy towards the Castro regime, again, in exchange for nothing, and at the price of making America seem weak. I am sure you can spot many more Obama IEDs.
Anyhow, tomorrow we will have a new President, one that actually seems to want America to do well. What a change from the past eight years . . .
Oh yes... yes indeed. Obama searches the world over for kleptocrats to whom he can funnel US $$$. It's not just the mullahs in Iran loving his "foreign denominations cargo-jet-lifted pallets of cash", it's also UN cronies.

Not sure what happened to congress being in control of the purse strings. I submit Obama has moved America into our 'post-constitutional' phase.

Maybe Trump should covertly send in a team to steal the money back?
DeleteRe: purse strings.
DeleteThat's the never-spoken reason why we periodically have these "debt ceiling" confrontations. Because funds are not appropriated when the spending commitment is made.
Instead, they [the gov't in all its incarnations] spend money borrowed via Treasury debt that thus grows like The Blob, until it bumps into the ceiling.
Oh! Look! We've spent all the borrowed money we're allowed, and if you refuse to let us spend/borrow more, it's going to shut down the government! Bad thing: can't do that!
They've perfected the scam.
"He could not admit that nearly everything he touched has turned to disaster for America"
ReplyDeleteThe phrase used by everyone from foreign leaders to American law enforcement is, "Everything Obama touches turns to sh!t". That's how history should mark him, except everything has to be polite enough for 11th-grade textbooks.
One bureaucrat explained to me that the secret to completing projects successfully in the Obama era has been to keep them low-key or complex so his political appointees don't notice or don't dare to touch them. Trump may cut their staffs but otherwise it's expected he'll be a breath of fresh air by comparison.
How about "A reverse Midas touch"?
DeletePolitically correct enough?
Phil B
The "Mierdas Touch."
DeleteI used to refer to this as a "Black thumb effect" but have given up the term for obvious reasons.
Delete"Manning should have been left to rot." He should have been, but then betraying one's country is not that big a deal, whereas making the Democratic Party look bad is a really big deal, so Assange can forget about any last minute reprieve from the former junior senator from Illinois.
ReplyDeleteWas just listening to pacifica radio this morning (because every once in a while I start to think lefties aren't truly stupid, so this brings me back to reality).. and they were pointing out that Manning would have served out his full sentence *except* for his gender-whatchamacallit. Once he put that persona on, legions of activists started lobbying the white house on his behalf... shrewed move..
DeleteIndeed, Manning the It should've been left to rot. However, he's a symptom of the America that the O wanted to make: unmanned, alienated even from his own chromosomes, disloyal, disfunctional, and bathed in treason chic.
DeleteAn Australian introduced me to the expression "Passion Fingers", defined as "Everything he touches, he fucks".
ReplyDeleteVery cruel . . . but funny, too
DeleteI've heard it as Dick Fingers, for the same reason.
DeleteObama committed another act of spite by appointing Ben Rhodes to the Holocaust Memorial Council.
ReplyDeleteAs "UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer tweeted, “No joke: Obama names aide who bragged of whitewashing Iran’s Holocaust-denying regime to Holocaust memorial council.”
I have no idea (I'm Israeli, not American) but I really truly hope so.
DeleteI believe it's a five-year appointment and cannot be rescinded by the next President.
DeleteI've visited the Museum and it's a very moving & worthwhile experience. I don't quite understand, though, why it's a private-public partnership that receives federal funds support.

I hate to see a man leave the presidency with no redeeming qualities. Obama may be close to the first, certainly in my memory.
ReplyDeleteHowever, to his credit, he is finishing up his presidency with no reports or accusations of sexual impropriety, physically abusing anyone, or other issues of "moral turpitude".
Now just when was the last time we had a Democrat president able to do that? Perhaps Truman.
"with no reports"
DeleteLOL, do you think the corrupt "media", part of the democrat party, would report any problems of moral turpitude?
Barry
What about his 'wife' Michael?
DeleteHey...... He had Reggie Love (his body man) for the first couple of years.
DeleteHangtown Bob
I enjoyed "press corpse" but am disappointed that you didn't refer to the Malefactor-in-Chief as 'President-eject Obama'.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that Mr Trump survives to take up office.
Damn! Wish I'd thought of that! I will, however, steal it for future use and give you no credit . . .
DeleteNot mine, alas. Though good enough to be, he said modestly.
DeleteI think none of this will deter Trump.
ReplyDeleteBarry
I’ve observed 10 living American Presidents in my lifetime and have significant knowledge and informational awareness of the other 34.
ReplyDeleteTo call this choom smoking, coke sniffing, community organizing, illegitimate offspring of a dyspeptic 18-year-old female by the name of Stanley, likely knocked up by bi-sexual, communist agitator and pornographer, Frank Marshall Davis occupying the White House, a President defies my expectation of the role of President of the United States? In name I reckon but not in principle or practice.
Obama and his wife raise my bile any and every time I saw their visages and/or heard their traitorous voices over the past eight years, I worried about America.
I am Irish. We built America along with Germans (German and Irish comprise the 2 largest American identification cultures), Italians, English. Ukrainians, Norwegians, Swedes, Welsh, Scottish, Mexicans, etc…you know the drill. The deal was you took us; you gave us hope and in return you leveraged what we represented and the value we brought to establish the greatest nation established by man, America.
The link between Ireland and America, as represented by people like me (I worked there for 10 years) will never be broken – but something needs doing; The sooner America rids itself of all and any memory of this walking piece of human excrement, Barry Soetoro, (aka BH Obama), the better.
I generally despise politicians as an imposition on freedom and human integrity. That Barry Soetoro lasted in the White House for 8 years is a sad, negative reflection of what the American Constitution was established to prevent. The bastard (and definitionally Barry is a bastard) should have been impeached at minimum after his first year of treachery. What does this say about Congress? Then again, when I see scum like Pelosi, Harry Reid, Watters and myriad others occupying the inner sanctum, I understand, The Washington Swamp requires draining.
I pray America learns from this cancerous experience, never to be repeated. I pray Trump unseals Barry’s sealed records so we understand the depth of his larceny, depravity and treachery. I wish there exists a legal way to put the fraud in GITMO where he belongs. I wish a return to the concept of “The shining city on the hill”, the beacon of hope to all decent aspiring Americans.
If an Irishman can get this emotional about Barry the conman I wonder how the average, decent American must feel.
The Irishman.

The last president to enter the White House with an approval rating below sixty percent was...
ReplyDeleteRonald Reagan (at least Trump is in good company in that regard :) ).
I don't pay any attention to those favorability polls. Meaningless.
DeleteYou don't often comment on the analysis from media, but I as I read Lee Smith's Weekly Standard article, "Brennan, the Russian Dossier and Obama's Grand Political Strategy," I couldn't help but wonder if you would agree with his conclusions.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite moment of the farewell presser was when Obama told the assembled faithful that he didn't think they were "SYNC-O-PHATS." Check out the brain on Barry!
ReplyDeleteDiplomad, I listened to President Trump's speech and there was what I consider to be a very interesting line regarding foreign policy.
ReplyDeletePresident Trump said, paraphrasing, that when dealing with other countries he would put "American interests first" while recognizing other countries put their own interests first.
Your take?
Thanks
-Blake
At least Obama didn't pardon Hillary....
ReplyDeleteDelilah
Obama is sort of God's gift to Jimmy Carter; for now, history will not call Carter the worst president ever. And, it looks like Obama will not even have history redeem him by saying, as has been said about Carter, that he made a better retired President after leaving office.
ReplyDeleteCarter was a disaster as a retired president too.
DeleteThe dispatch of US troops, for example, to Poland in the waning days of this horrid misadministration sets up a dilemma for Trump. If he leaves the troops there, the job of reaching out to Russia becomes all the more difficult. If he pulls them out, he will be accused of being a Putin puppet, out to destroy NATO.
ReplyDeleteHe shouldn't do either one. He should move some of them to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania!
And then he should publicly float the proposal that since Russia didn't respect Ukraine's established border, then perhaps Russia shuld return the Kaliningrad Oblast exclave to Germany and Poland ...
Trump seems to constantly think outside normal paradignms. Here's a suggestion - remove all troops from Poland, but replace them all with cooks, dieticians and grief counselors (military ones). The military footprint doesn't change, but the effectiveness goes to 0%.
ReplyDeleteSimilar to Obama sending frozen only burritos (but no weapons) to the Ukraine - we can say we are 'helping', while not really helping at all.
