Well, another Thanksgiving is about to descend upon us and our Republic survives still. For that I am eternally grateful. Watching the news--a bad habit--one could conclude that we are in the final moments of our existence. The breathless reporting by the mad mainstream media mob (M4) would have you believe that we have placed Hitler--or worse--in the White House but that the "walls are closing in on him" because he is an idiot but extremely smart . . . yeah, right. They have been predicting the imminent demise of the Trump presidency since he took office, and have worked tirelessly to make the prediction come true. Ol' Ironsides Trump, however, has withstood the enemy's broadsides and returned some highly effective fire of his own. May he continue to do so!
I have never before seen such a pitiful collection of candidates for the highest office in the land as the bunch the Dems and their media acolytes seek to push on us. Who are these people? It would be hard to put together a more motley collection of has-beens, never-weres, and never will-bes, especially a collection we are supposed to take seriously as potential leaders of the Republic.
The Dems will lose in 2020: I have no doubt. My concern for the Republic, however, extends to 2024. Not only do the Republicans have nobody who can continue the Trumpian Revolution but the Dems and the Progs in general are quite adept at making their insane ideas of today become the "accepted" wisdom of the day after tomorrow. Look at insanity such as gay marriage, the LGBQT nonsense, the climate hoax, and so on. See what I mean?
If there is a "flaw" to the Trumpian Revolution it is that it has effectively destroyed the Republican party without finding a replacement. At least, not yet. Now, of course, the GOP needed destroying as it had become a sclerotic, "me too," partner of the progs in DC, but what will replace it or recharge it? I don't know.
I worry that, in Simon Bolivar's words, we "have been plowing in the sea". Will it all make a difference in the long run? It certainly won't if we don't completely redo our decrepit system of higher education, which now is neither. We can't keep turning out illiterate morons and expect things to get gooder.
My number two son got married last week in a nice little ceremony in Raleigh. I gave him an AK as a wedding present in the hopes that he would turn his event into an Afghan wedding--you know, wrap a rag around your head, jump onto the bed of a pick-up truck, start babbling some nonsense, and pour a steady stream of hot lead into the heavens above. But, no . . . the kids are wimps nowadays . . . nothing like that happened.
Anyhow, the Diplowife and I are off to Raleigh for Thanksgiving with all the kids and their significant others as we pay tribute to that intrepid band of freedom-seeking Englishmen known as the Pilgrims. I am taking along my new (yes) Wilson EDC X9 (had to replace the one my wife took from me) and a new SIG 1911 Emperor. Hope to get in some range time. All the best to all of you--well, except for that anonymous cowardly idiot and liar who keeps writing libelous crap about me in the comments section (my lawyer is interested)--and will try to keep some embers of optimism glowing.
Happy Thanksgiving Dip, hopefully someone will take up the flag after DJT
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your paella!!!
ReplyDeleteI do wish you a happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-giving - I spent last Sunday at a Civil War reenactor event at Liendo Plantation, and it was glorious. Glorious, and patriotic, and friendly and ... full of free-lance open-air historians. And in Texas.
ReplyDeleteWith lots of blank-shooting and cannons going off everywhere...
I am envious
DeleteHello, Sargent Mom! Greetings from Alaska! Actually Anacortes, WA today. DiploMad: have a great and meaningful thanksgiving. A wonderful thing.

"They have been predicting the imminent demise of the Trump presidency since he took office, and have worked tirelessly to make the prediction come true."
ReplyDeleteYes, but it started well before that, no? It started perhaps a bit before Trump stepped into the race?
The possibility of a non-progressive of any stripe (even one as Liberal as Trump) running the country was 'unacceptable'.
The number of times the entirety of the media predicted Trump's demise makes me concerned about whether I'm missing some secret media agenda.
"He said X! There's no way he can win now!"
"He's not conservative enough to take on the primaries."
"The Kochs aren't supporting him, and we all know a GOP candidate doesn't go anywhere without the Kochs!"
"He doesn't even *want* to win, he's a Clinton plant."
"He fought back against baseless allegations by 'gold star family' plant by the DNC!"
"He failed to show the respect we pretend to give to a life-term politician who had been a POW at one time."
"He said something horrible about a person! That's UNPRESIDENTIAL."
At *every* turn, Trump's candidacy and presidency were "in obvious demise", and he won every time. Trump is like 15-0 in since 2015 or so.
"Oh no! His opposition is *way* too powerful, there's no way he can fight back against a DNC convention setup! Wait a minute.. he just did... and the people see the DNC cowardice for what it was... no WAY!"
Turns out Americans like people who don't back down from bullies, and that's Trump's base. Crosses centrist-political lines quite easily.
apologies for the tirade... this media business is just getting ridiculous.. it's like that 1970's serial mystery where the very same plot development recurs in a weekly loop.

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving and my warm regards to the diplomad spouse. So many years since we played on the Strook team back in Guatemala. Your pen a gift that keeps on giving as we lurch toward our Reward

ReplyDeleteHope so too Mr.Dip, and Thanks to you and yours for the thoughtful words and wisdom, you’ve shared!
Also, wanted to share with you and the readers here, My Thankfulness for my local Fire Chief, I finally got to send him a Card of Thanksgiving today.
I met him for the 1st time on the day after hurricane "Dorian" Hit us, which sent a foot of seawater, mixed with boatload of muck'n'mire thru my house~~~ the 3rd of such inundations over the past 3 years.
My dear wife, a veteran of salvaging our family photos and important papers, had reached the end of her rope. . . and declared, with the glint of tears in her eyes, that she's had it with waterfront property, and wanted to move to higher ground ASAP! Well! That was a shot across my bow that I didn't expect! Said I timidly, let me know where you want to go, and l continued toward the door hauling the stinking carpet chunks out to the curb...
The Fire Chief, in street clothes, was driving by in his car, and I suspect, seeing this greybeard struggling with a heavy load stopped to lend a hand. He inquired about my damages and commiserated humbly for a moment, “that’s too bad”, then asked me if I needed anything?
Somehow without missing a beat, I replied “what have you got”? He fired back with; I got muck buckets filled with cleaning products, and mops, brooms, scrub-brushes, trash bags & gloves! PERFECT! I could use it all! He got on the horn and – 5 minutes later it was on my door-step, he shook my hand and shoved off. I haven’t said a word to him since, but I wrote a few on the Thanksgiving Card. . .
When I went back inside, with my arms full of cleaning gear, my ‘Lady of the House’ was ecstatic, and became transformed into a Sergeant-Major -- after I told her about our visitor! She took an inventory of the supplies and issued me the heaviest duty black trash bag I ever handled- then I got busy and filled it up!
So, today I looked up the Chief online, and NOT surprisingly this was the first reference I found:
“It is my fundamental belief that firefighters should be at their best when our community is at their worst… as Fire Chief, I will set this example and motivate others to follow suit.” -- Carlos Aviles has been with department since 2005 -- Stacey Readout, Asst News Director News 4 Jax-August 23, 2016, 4:45 pm
Yes indeed, the Chief had the remedy, and the wherewithal in that Daze after Dorian: Happy Thanksgiving Chief! and Thanks again!

What a great story. I've only been through one hurricane, and we didn't get flooded, but it was our volunteer fire dept and chief who took charge and made sure everyone was safe and dry. That is when I learned it takes at least 72 hours before anyone from "outside" can mobilize - well, anyone other than the Salvation Army, who were there within 24. The local fire chiefs really show their mettle during those times.
DeleteHUZZAH!
DeleteThanks for your comments Tina & Scott!
DeleteConcur, the local 1st responders, paid or volunteer,
deserve the respect, and good cheer they've earned in service to their communities!
Wishing you both an enjoyable and safe Holiday Season!

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours, Diplomad -- and to my fellow 7 readers of this excellent blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you especially, Diplomad, for voluntarily taking on the unpleasant task of listening to the LameStream Media nonsense. Along with most of my fellow citizens, I stopped paying attention to them quite some time ago. Thank you for your reports from the front!
Happy Thanksgiving, sir, to you and yours, and to everyone here! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you! The same wishes for you and yours!
DeleteWe shall see what 2024 will bring. Personally, I think affairs have reached critical mass, and the counterstroke is about to fall.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I loathe the attempted Dynastic Clans (Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr, Clinton fail 1, Clinton Fail 2, and Lil Bush fail 1) I would not be too opposed to a Trump Jr or even Ivanka run.
DeleteThough I think Nikki Haley would make a decent job of it also.
But yep, the GOP Bullpen got real thin when all the never Trumpers retired last election (and good riddance). The saving grace being the litmus test to even get on the DNC bench makes them unelectable.
Arkansas' Senator Tom Cotton ought be someone to watch.
DeleteOf the Trump offspring, Don Jr. Would be better than Ivanka as he appears to be conservative while she is not.
DeleteThe far left has been undermining the American experiment for 50 years. You don't correct that even with a two term President. If Trump wins he will have changed the orientation of the court system which should work as a fair bulwark for the near future. Now he needs to get to work on the educational system - taking it away from the far left progressives and making it pro-liberty once again.
ReplyDeleteMy Diplowife, myself, and one of our grown diplobrats had fish or duck at a good retaurant. I hope you and yours had as an enjoyable a time.
ReplyDeletebeats the traditional Thanksgiving paella! (wink)

Nikki Haley 2024
ReplyDeleteFemale and a minority.
How will the Dems attack her?
Too attractive?
They will attack her every way possible. Nothing will be off limits.
DeleteAgree ww, imo the lefty lip-spittle will be expectorated at any and all Trump supporters! The good news is that the News - 'Fakers' throw weight, can't even penetrate a T-shirt, let alone a MAGA Hat! True Nikki has had some good press lately. However and "with all due respect" including her alleged 'grit & grace' and BS notwithstanding... I think her short-timer stint(10mos) and her overall weak, and wishy-washy performance at the UN -- her on again/off again act reads politically like a go-along to get-along, Romney RINO! Send her back down to minor league in SC and have her mahogany & bright work polished and spit-shined!

Have any of you seen this one: https://apelbaum.wordpress.com/2018/03/17/the-mechanics-of-deception/
ReplyDeleteSuperb source link SusanH.
DeleteJust spent six hours and forty-two minutes getting through the post and the entire comment thread - I expect I'll be spending "some hours" availing myself of the embedded linkages.
Thanks alot - no really - that's "good product."
JK
I was amazed by how "inbred" this bunch of players is. The work Apelbaum put into this is truly outstanding.
DeleteI was also surprised by the repeated presence of Congresswoman Kaptur. Her involvement has gotten little to no media attention.
DeleteWhile the 'source network' can be quite large the 'players' must necessarily be (relatively) uhm, "tight."
DeleteDiplomad's recently expounded on the 'Resist bureaucracy' which goes some distance toward explaining why this one we're presently afflicted by is not so compartmented as to prove itself unwieldy. (An example of that unwieldiness may be discerned in the comment thread via the observation 'longshadow' provides by spotting Ambassador Taylor sitting alongside the dossier deliverer David Kramer. He of the McCain/Comey associates.)

DeleteApologies SusanH that it seems to keep "banging on" but:

https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/15219/durham-indictments
So now we wait for what Horowitz and Durham have to add. I think I understand the basics of what happened even though the large number of players are a bit confusing. Hoping to see a bunch of those players behind bars one day.
DeleteWell SusanH it's rather Durham solely we'll have to pin our hope to as Horowitz' "Scope Memo" is only to figure the predicate for that which the counterintelligence operation was got based on. Expect no indictments to yield from Horowitz.
DeleteDurham's the sole hope as he's the one equipped with the Grand Jury and for that to begin its magic is likely to require as well another sea change.
SusanH,
DeleteOne last perhaps toward your further understanding of what is likely to result from the IG Horowitz part of the two [w/Durham] investigations - in two parts. Just over 18 minutes total duration in the form of a podcast that's just been (2245 CDT) posted - headphones are most helpful:
https://audioboom.com/posts/7440852-1-2-graham-and-grassley-prep-for-horowitz-larry-johnson-sic-semper-tyrannis
https://audioboom.com/posts/7440851-2-2-graham-and-grassley-prep-for-horowitz-larry-johnson-sic-semper-tyrannis
Does anyone else think the swamp creature IG appointed by Obama is really going to help Barr rein in THE Law Enforcement Agency that has run roughshod for decades? Horowitz is the swamp and like Comey he will lay out a case any prosecutor would dream to have, but then exonerate the system itself. Some low level flunkies will have to pay the piper, but he will provide cover (that the media will hammer repeatedly) to all the SESers who should be doing time already.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Durham will find any trails back to Horowitz???
I'd be interested in Dip's opinion of this piece today.
