I nominate Legal Insurrection as the blog of the year. In fact, I nominate LI as the media outlet of the year.
The LI coverage of the Zimmerman trial was nothing short of superb. Those of us who followed the trial closely via LI knew the case was a travesty. The careful, objective, and thorough coverage by LI proved a marked contrast to the highly selective and distorted coverage provided by MSM outlets, in particular CNN, MSNBC, and the broadcast networks. The MSM print media was hopeless beyond words. I can see how those who followed the case via the MSM are stunned by the "not guilty" verdict. If they had followed it via LI they would know that the jury reached the right (and brave) decision to find Zimmerman "not guilty."
This is a major victory for justice and for the internet pajama brigade over the "well-educated" morons of the MSM--the same morons who think Zimmerman is white and Elizabeth Warren is Native American.
Now we will have to see whether our disgraceful Department of Justice compounds the travesty with some sort of civil rights violation case.
In the meanwhile, we should not wait around. We need a public outcry to fire and bring up on professional malfeasance charges the prosecutor and her politicized team. Those of us who are Florida residents, in particular, need to contact our representatives, including the governor, to demand a thorough investigation of the prosecutor and the role politics played in bringing this case. This is a chance to strike back at the growing threat posed by prosecutorial arrogance and overreach. Any of us could become the next George Zimmerman.

What struck me about this whole fiasco, and no, I didn't submerge myself in this, was the cacophony of outside voices that attempted to apply their values on another State's residents. This was/is a local matter, and those from other regions should not apply their State's laws and values, if any, to Florida. It smacks of Nationalism in the application of a sovereign State's affairs.

If Zimmerman 'profiled' Martin as the agitators say, aren't the agitators 'profiling' Floridians for their views on self-defense?

Interestingly, I was taking a basic gun course/home protection course right at the time this happened. The course included state gun and self protection laws on the books. If you know those laws, it is quite clear how this case should have gone. Er actually, it was quite clear this case should have never gotten to trial.

ReplyDeleteOf course, the "well educated morons" moniker would include the African king posing as president. As a former "law professor" he seems to have an amazingly slim grasp of the actual law. Perhaps he obtained his credentials the same way as Jackson and Sharpton obtained their reverendcy.
ReplyDeleteMark O Mara should suggest a beer summit at the White House to address some of the African king's and his misadministration's stupid comments, this is I think a learning moment. Perhaps the message could be relayed to the hard-of-thinking and non-cursive reading section of the population that beating folk is good way to create a violent response, nothing racial about that, in concealed carry states that can seriously affect your health.

DeleteThere is some serious confusion in the NAACP calling for the DOJ to go after Zimmerman on civil rights when they claim the civil right is the right to life. A valid claim but also one that validates the just returned verdict of self defense. It's almost like they can't think clearly about civil rights.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how much use appealing to the governor would do since the whole special prosecutor and the selection of Angela Corey was his doing. Although, he may be willing to sacrifice her and the very unethical prosecutors to save his own hide.
I don't think much is going to come of this unless there are riots that have to be quelled. Obama and the Florida governor have every reason to want this to just go away. The more it plays in the media, the more their involvement will be repeated.

It's too bad that it wasn't a bunch of MSM moguls who knocked Zimmerman down, not knowing he had a gun and knew how to use it.

It is a long read for anyone who hasn't been following CTH for the year I have, but it is worth it. The deeper you dig, the dirtier it gets.
There was a reason that the Fulton/Martin Scheme Team, aided and abetted by Al Sharpton, wanted an "arrest" of George Zimmerman. Without an arrest, in the State of Florida, there could be no civil laws suits to enrich the grieving parents. The grieving parents have already been enriched by the HOA of Twin Lakes to the tune of a cool $1 million plus.
No surprise that a number of the Scheme Team players are connected to the disgraceful Pigford scam exposed by Andrew Breitbart.

As a resident of Florida, I second your request for a special prosecutor for Angela Corey. The failure to turn over exculpatory evidence, the firing of the IT guy who caught that, the bypassing of the Grand Jury, and the inaccurate and misleading charging document provide more than enough grounds. At the very least, Corey should be disbarred.
