Wracked with angst over the fate of our beloved and horribly misgoverned Republic, the DiploMad returns to do battle on the world wide web, swearing death to political correctness, and pulling no punches.
The Muttawa'in (Religious Police) of Saudi Arabia did a fine job on their own people on 11 March 2002 in Mecca, when they refused to let "inappropriately dressed" schoolgirls escape their burning school.
Greetings right back at you. I loved working with the Aussies against the Islamists. I hope that the blight of dhimmitude has not taken as firm a root there as it has here.
Another reason to keep my head down, as I ready for my next assignment (just next door, so to speak, in N'djamena). I so do hope that the embassy doesn't require that I do anymore of that nonsensical and dhimmified "outreach" that Hilary so loved to make us do.
There's a fair chance that also the victims, and not only the perpetrators, of this horrendous attack were Mussulmans. They make up the majority of northern Nigeria's population, and for Boko Haram and like-minded folks going to a school with a Western curriculum is sufficient reason for an attack, regardless of the students' religion.
Remember, the name Boko Haram literally means "Western books [and by extension Western, modern education] are forbidden by religion." And it's no accident that "boko" looks so much like English "book": It is a loan from English into the Hausa language. (Traditional Islamic books are termed litafi, a loanword from Arabic.)
As Huntington famously said, Islam has bloody borders -- but also bloody entrails.
Greetings from Downunder,
ReplyDeleteThe Muttawa'in (Religious Police) of Saudi Arabia did a fine job on their own people on 11 March 2002 in Mecca, when they refused to let "inappropriately dressed" schoolgirls escape their burning school.
Fifteen youngsters died as a result.
Cheers and best,
HRT
