I am deeply troubled by the mass murder in Las Vegas. It is beyond outrageous that the simple act of attending a concert or another public event can prove life threatening almost anywhere in the world today. My family and I are all very sad. One encouraging fact, however, is the many, many examples of courage and compassion that we saw during and after this attack. There is still some hope for humanity, I guess.
I aso find beyond outrageous some of the comments from the lefties. I am sure you have already seen those so I won't repeat them. Those are driven by the lefty attitude of never let a horror go to waste, whether it is a mass killing or a hurricane; the first impulse of the lefties is to politicize it and try to gain some sort of advantage by establishing a narrative--regardless of the actual facts--that demonstrates the evil of Western man, and the need for corrective action by the state.
I am reluctant to comment at length about this shooting but feel very uneasy with the information being put out by most media outlets. Much of it just seems wrong, and not only because most early information in an incident such as this is inaccurate almost by definition. Too much just doesn't make sense, way too much. I suspect there is a great deal more information to come that will alter the narrative about this horror.
Agreed. The FBI and locals are very tight lipped.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Trump is right ... it is just pure evil.

DeleteI thought right away that the attendees at the festival were likely Trump voters and that was a possible motive - but until the police have some information, I never would have said that or posted that or indulged in any speculation. But I am reading reactions on the left gleeful that likely Trump voters were killed - as they were gleeful that Texas and Florida were hit by hurricanes as both states were full of Trump voters. A CBS lawyer, certainly a mainstream person, saw nothing wrong with posting she she had no sympathy for the Las Vegas victims as the concert goers were probably Trump supporters.
ReplyDeleteJust as Trump has ummasked the GOPe as lying, corrupt frauds, he has, probably unwittingly, managed to get the Dems and the left to openly expose themselves as immoral, violent haters of America and anyone who disagrees with them. What was simmering under the surface is now, imo, an open civil war (with the GOPe siding with, or at least doing nothing to stop, the immoral, violent haters). I despair for America. Humpty Dumpty is broken and I fear beyond the power of anyone to put together again.
RIP to the dead in Las Vegas, Houston and Florida, as well as the victims of terror everywhere
The left wastes no time in showing itself. We on the right stand between them and all power. The left will not stop until it takes casualties. This is true for all time.

This morning's title credited the shooter with explosives like the OKLAHOMA Bomber had...that blows the mind to see that headline.
ReplyDeleteHope you looked at Texas when you went house shopping. East Texas, 90 mile east of Dallas, is a beautiful place. It looks like DC with dogwoods and azaleas in the Spring but no BS, like you find in DC. You have enough culture here to offer (UT's Cowan Center in Tyler), or Fair Park's musicals an easy drive over. Plus we do not get Dallas weather...an important thing to my husband as we retired out of DC. That means should DC get nuked....we won't get the fall out due to prevailing winds...
And good folks live here. I can speak to that personally....this was a Texas town I had no connections in but still served (elected) to serve locally for over 12 years, and when a tragedy happened in our family...this town even went to the trouble to bale our hay....simply because they knew they wanted to help.
In the next season of our lives we all need to be in places like this...it was once Deeply Democrat...but now a Demo couldn't get elected..
And as to Las Vegas....I figured the first thing we'd hear was WHITE SUPREMACIST but it was not so....doesn't mean they won't get there but NRA was higher on their list...
East Texas Rancher
No BS in a place full of cattle? That sounds hard to believe.
DeleteHah.. all the cattle in texas have nowhere near the BS in Washington DC. :)

I am pretty sure "Bump Stocks" are going on the NFA list now. I considered them a dangerous gimmick and wouldn't buy one myself. But a whole lot of folks are going to have to go through NFA registration if they intend to keep the ones that are out there, or at least the honest folks that will register them.
ReplyDeleteSad how public policy debates are shut down by lame protests that one's opponents are "politicizing" the issue. Another lame argument is that one's opponents don't love our country enough.
ReplyDeleteI'm a gun owner. I wish there were many fewer of us.
Nobody's forcing you to keep your gun. You have the power to make your wishes come true. Not everybody can say that, congratulations!

Every authoritarian repressive left wing government was preceeded by a left wing gun control. I fear the left/Democrats in this country exactly the way that Germans should have feared the Nazis in the 1930's. There seems to be a "quickening" by the left to remove guns from private ownership in the U.S. almost as though the left is planning a neo-nazi style regime and desperately need to get this last impediment (private ownership of guns) out of the way quickly. I fear our left; Soros, Hillary, Antifa, Democrats, the many, many pro-communist organizations they left supports and subscribes to. I fear the Democrats. I used to simply dislike them and their policies and tactics but today I fear them. They do not mean us (Americans) well. They intend to rule to take over our country and rule in a way that benefits them at the expense of most Americans.
DeleteMKUltra or SSRI's ?
ReplyDeleteHe left a note. That should be interesting. Also $ 100k to Philippines. GF there.
ReplyDeleteCan I assume you have eliminated Vegas as a relo site?
ReplyDeleteOne piece of the puzzle: Drudge linked to an article by a Las Vegas publication reporting that Paddock was prescribed anti-anxiety med Diazepam, which is known to trigger aggressive behavior. https://www.reviewjournal.com/local/the-strip/las-vegas-strip-shooter-prescribed-anti-anxiety-drug-in-june/
ReplyDeleteValium... It's also commonly used to treat epilepsy in the short term, though I don't think it's as commonly prescribed first in preference for the newer anti-epileptics.

I suppose if you're contemplating mass murder ending in suicide it might weigh on your conscience a bit, and give you some insomnia and anxiety.
DeleteNo, Valium is not the first line drug. Rather, it is given, I.V. to stop a seizure that is in or threatens to enter, status epilepticus.

Google John Ringo's article about planning mass murder and his wife prescribed drugs that nearly drove her to it...
ReplyDeleteYes, Anon, Ringo has the 'bull by the horns'!
DeleteMy working title for the clinical observations of "lunatics" I have known and, dare I say, loved...
"Psychopharmacology: Pondering the Abyss"!
Several revealing 'case studies' can also be glimpsed, and gut felt, by alert readers of the comment section, one case in particular is Jennifer T., who writes:
>>> "I have a similar Problem with medications, one of the reasons I refused to take any medications for my clinical depression; one of my asthma medications caused a psychological shift the only became apparent after I changed meds, and the original drug had been eliminated from my system. Not killing somebody for that 10 year period never ceases to amaze me. I react badly to a number of drugs, which has made treating my various medical problems interesting. |My husband knows what behavior to watch for|, so if I don't notice fast enough, he'll warn me, though I have gotten extremely adept at tracking my inner self, it helps if you have at least one person in your life who gets suspicious if you start to veer off track."<<<
On Watch~~~

Ringo's wife lost the capacity to choose not to kill people? I read the article. I can accept that a bad drug interaction occurred. Not that the drug turned off a person's capacity to act and turned that person into a robot who had no choice but to plan mass murder.
ReplyDeleteNo, she did not lose that capacity, but she felt strongly that she was losing her grip, checked into a hospital, and took other measures to reinforce her continued ability to make choices. Read the piece by Mr. Ringo and you will know a good deal more.
