Just a quick note as I am still unpacking, and a variety of techs and movers and delivery people are crawling all over the house. The Diplowife happier than a pig in mud, with her directing, supervising, giving orders . . . I get tired watching her.
Have been following only from a distance the Roy Moore senatorial election saga.
I don't know Moore; know very little about him; have no idea if he would be a good or bad senator from the Great State of Alabama. I, however, find disgusting this progressive/DNC tactic of launching swarm attacks alleging sexual improprieties of some 30-40 years ago. Frankly, when you have time to examine any particular one of the allegations, it almost invariably comes up short in the credibility department. There always seems to be some fatal flaw in the account that discredits it.
The progs, however, don't care. It's akin to the old Soviet WWII tactic of dealing with minefields: you just keep running through them. Individual soldiers get killed but the overall attack continues. You see, for example, how the press reports on the allegations, e.g., "dozens of women have come forth." The fact that individual stories seem to get blown up by the minefield of truth, does not stop the wave. The onslaught continues.
This weaponization of everything is going to tear us apart as a nation.
I hope Moore wins.
I'm sure the democrats helped but this is McConnell's baby.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand McConnell either but why wouldn't he have done this in time to help his candidate, Luther Strange?
DeleteSeveral possible reasons:
Delete1. McConnell's surrogates may have started building this, but held off because using it in the primary may have caused an irrevocable split that would have cost Strange the election. Better to try to put the Dems finger prints on it.
2. McConnell doesn't just want to just beat the non-establishment types (Trumpettes,Tea Party, etc.), he wants to discredit them to keep them from becoming serious contenders as a power block in the Republican party. Beating them in primary will just cause them to retrench and come back. Discrediting them by setting them up to lose an easily winnable election will be more discrediting. Losing a winnable election because his opposition is painted as holding fringe ideas (Aiken) or being malicious weirdos/sexual predators (Moore) makes others not want to associate with them.
3. Ultimately McConnell may be more comfortable with the smallest possible margin in the Senate as it makes for a better excuse to not accomplish anything. The more the Repubs are reduced to infighting with every major bill, the more convinced I am becoming that McConnell doesn't want political victories, he, or his masters, wants the status quo. If he started racking up victories, the pressure to institute changes would become enormous.
If Moore is a sexual predator, by all mean go after him.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there's a lot that's fishy about these accusations, coming as they do right before the election. Consider the allegations against Herman Cain which mysteriously went away after he dropped out of the presidential race. Further, with Cain, it was interesting how the Leftist media did nothing to note the pernicious racist stereotype of the sexually predatory black male being trotted out against Cain. There is also that case from a few years back of those lacrosse players cleared of rape charges. Hence, at this point, my guess is that the Leftist media is hoping that the stereotype of the prominent religious hypocrite is just that--a stereotype which allows the self-righteous to harrumph in self-congratulation and judge merely on hearsay and/or innuendo.
It seems that the first accuser is a Democrat activist; the second got her divorce in Moore's court a number of years back, but made no motion for recusal. Nothing was said about Moore after he was removed from the bench. The timing is suspicious.
Re the entertainment industry scandals, I wonder how many might not be soured relationships being turned against people towards whom others feel envy; women who, at the time, may well have thought they were just paying show biz dues and/or proving how "liberated" they were; and mere spite.
Having a granddaughter, a daughter-in-law, a wife, and a number of other female relatives, I do not approve of sexual assault. Not in the least. But this seems like a case tailor made to remind us all why there are burdens of proof, due process, and a few other protections in place.
I don't even approve of much older men expressing interest in dating teenagers because it feels "icky" to me. But it sure isn't being a "pervert" if the courtship is above-board with the eventual aim being a marriage between adults. I had a sister married 3 months after turning 18, and I'm pretty sure she was formally engaged at 17. Just because Pajama-Boy isn't ready to act like an adult doesn't mean there aren't older teenagers ready and willing to embrace adult responsibilities.
DeleteVictor Davis Hanson had a great piece a few days ago, on the year's worth of media frenzy we've seen. It opens:
ReplyDelete"America is in another of its Salem moments. Frenzy is almost a living, breathing monster. It moves from host to host, fueled by rumor, gossip, and self-righteous furor."
https://amgreatness.com/2017/11/13/from-one-frenzy-to-the-next/
Has any plaintiff that that ambulance hiring lamprey Gloria Allred latched onto actually gone to trial and gotten a guilty verdict? Ever? Beuller?
ReplyDeleteOr Lisa Bloom?
DeleteI was inclined to believe the allegations against Moore as they had been presented until Allred entered the sweepstakes. I'm not surprised that her client's purported yearbook signature isn't holding up well - not in the least - but when will the media and her own profession finally reject her for the damage she does to actual victims by trying to milk fake ones for every last cent and second of publicity? (I won't be standing on one leg waiting for that to happen)
DeleteNow that Allred is on the case, I'm pulling for Moore but still feel very queasy about him regarding the initial case despite my puzzlement over the timing when consideration is given to the length of time he has been a controversial public and political figure. Something's not right here.
And this is why the left wins.
DeleteThey don't have principled stances. They fight to win. And the media is on Allred's side whenever she attacks a conservative so your wishes will never come true.
Don't be a cuckservative twiddling your bow tie in outrage against your own. Especially for a made-up story like this one.
"cuckservative"? GFY.
DeleteDiplo, I agree with you and Victor Davis Hanson, this frenzy is sickening and makes me wonder how our country can continue on when the social fabric is literally falling apart. But, I will say that this is all on the Left -- they weaponized accusations of sexual harassment et al. to go after Republicans, but the rot in their midst has come back to bite them in the a$$ (I know I am torturing my metaphors, but hey..) So when even the MSM could no longer ignore the degenerate Weinstein, and the other pigs in Hollywood, the Left found itself in quite a bind. After screaming for years about the "rape culture" they couldn't ignore it any longer, and now we find out the press world is also full of perverts and Congress too!! In a certain way, this is an easy way to drain the swamp of all the gunk. But in another way, when or how will this end? Will we have a national conversation and establish new ground rules? Or will this frenzy just continue?
ReplyDeleteAt least we are starting to hear people admit that Bill Clinton was a perv all along, with the added bonus that means Hillary will sink with him. The double standard on how the Left and the Right are treated still seems to be going strong, e.g. Moore in Alabama, but the deplorables are starting to push back strongly at that political hit job and the progressive narrative.
I despair for America.
Delilah
How will this end? A 2nd Victoria era....borught to us by the same people that brought us the sexual revolution. Ironic, eh?
DeleteTo be honest, Sr. Diplomad, I don't see the plausibility of the accusations against Judge Moore coming apart at the seams.
ReplyDeleteSure, the timing of the Washington Post's story is potentially fishy, but no one has blown a hole of any noticeable size in that story. Heck, an Alabama newspaper reported, after this came to light, that a mall in Gadsden had banned him years ago for stalking teenage girls there.
The case against Moore is at least as compelling as the case against Bill Clinton-as-rapist lo those many years ago. And it's disturbing to see so many Republicans circling their wagons around Moore the way Democrats did around Clinton.
Perversity is equal-opportunity affliction, and different standards based on party labels is the height of craziness. We already knew a lot of Democrats were crazy, but that doesn't justify imitating their behavior.
In any event, regardless of whether the allegations are true, Roy Moore is seriously damaged goods for the much of the Alabama electorate.
If he's a smart politician, he'll drop out of the race in favor of Luther Strange or another Republican to devote his full attention to debunking his accusers and to remove the distraction he presents to his cause.
If he's not a smart politician, he'll stick around and be a millstone around the necks of everyone who's trying to accomplish something positive for the country.
Self above country? Country above self? We can only hope Judge Moore decides wisely. I'm not optimistic.
"I'm not optimistic." Hairy Brah
DeleteI can tell "Bro", your stuff has the {{{ring}}} of a quitter, or perhaps, just another prog operator with a sinister list of talking points?
Viz "Luther Strange", that boy was slinging more BullSh!t than a Kansas City stockyard shoveler! Suspect there's a good reason the CinC isn't going to the mats for 'Strange', he's a NO WIN proposition in MO, he only 'stanks'up the state for the Donald...
On Watch~~~
Wha???
DeleteHe should drop pout and let Strange run? You're effing crazy. Moore will be an army of one in the senate, why do you think slimy McConnell spent $30M in the primary spreading lies?
Second, sheesh buy a newspaper or something pal. The yearbook crap is(has) fallen apart. It's obvious the signature is a forgery for a number of reasons.
Your entire post is exactly the reason that we have a UniParty that could care less about us pee-ons. You're making some trees work tirelessly to keep you needlessly alive.
" an Alabama newspaper reported, after this came to light, that a mall in Gadsden had banned him years ago for stalking teenage girls there."
DeleteThe Mall story has now been refuted by a former manager. The "Yearbook" has now been shown to be a forgery, or at least Allred won;t allow a forensic exam to disprove the forgery example.
You wouldn't hang a cat on the evidence of that incompetent forgery.
DeleteCongratulations Diplomad! You have a Soros troll polluting your blog, which means you are a success!

Mall Never Banned Moore and Other Lies

Well, let's review the bidding, shall we?
DeleteI wrote, "...so many Republicans circling their wagons around Moore the way Democrats did around Clinton."
Check.
"We already knew a lot of Democrats were crazy, but that doesn't justify imitating their behavior."
Check.
"Roy Moore is seriously damaged goods for the much of the Alabama electorate."
We'll find out for sure next month, but I'm pretty certain that that, too, will be a Check, even if he ekes out a victory in a state where Republicans typically win by 30 or more points.
"Self above country? Country above self?" In the replies above, substitute "political sub-tribe" for "self," and...Check again.
I'm not someone who looks to get into a weeing match with anyone, especially those who are into their third or fourth adult beverage of the night, but really, folks, slinging insults like calling me a progressive troll or a Soros plant is like calling Al Franken a member of the John Birch Society.
Let's not forget, while we're at it, that President Trump endorsed Luther Strange over Judge Moore in the primary.
Most of you who replied to me might consider not behaving like a bunch of Bannonista juggalos (go ahead, look it up) on the DiploMad's turf. Señor Amselem's standards of debate and decorum are considerably higher than yours.
Dear 'Bro,
DeleteMore likely you're conflating your so-called standard of political "decorum" with your personal desire to foist off your leftyBS as 'truth, justice, and the American way'.
So sorry sally, but I expect you can do better peddling your progressive pulp fiction over at HuffPO... Buhbye, and a hearty CHECk MATE to you and your turkey too!

Go with what works clown.
I'd like to thank Anonymous and "D" for cooperating quite nicely in confirming the points I made earlier. No meaningful arguments or counter-arguments from them, just name-calling.
DeleteIn my comment under the DiploMad's Nov. 3 post, "Clintons, Again," I referred to "the twisted, delusional mindset of the Democratic-Media Complex." Apparently that mindset also afflicts certain people who are neither Democrats nor media vultures.
@HarryBro,
DeletePlease note that MMinLamesa did offer counter-arguments. The yearbook signature is a fraud, so the 14-year-old story is a fraud. The mall banning story is a fraud. How many frauds do you need to see there's more BS than truth in the allegations? The timing of them (after years of silence) said enough already.
Also, at this point it's too late to change the name on the ballot. Moore can't give it to Strange, nor to anyone else. Moore should fight it out, and start attacking the lying media. A Moore win is a lying media loss.
"This weaponization of everything is going to tear us apart as a nation.

Concur Pilgrim! Push has indeed Come to Shove and the Jackasses, whether party affiliated or the figurative variety, are headed for the abyss! Rave on you RatBastids, you're long overdue for a meaningful attitude adjustment!
Moreover, and righteously so, Moore should have the honor of kicking prog butt in the upcoming S-P-E-C-I-A-L election, and btw, welcome to the dance Senator!

If the yearbook proves a forgery, Gloria Allred should be disbarred ...
ReplyDeleteShe has avoided that possibility (Is she a member of the Alabama Bar?) by claiming that her client did not "see" Moore sign the yearbook.
DeleteI don't know about minefields, but the Soviets lost 600,000 men in the fall of 1941 in and around Smolensk, using repeated human wave attacks to blunt the German advance.
ReplyDeleteThe American left is similar, willing to take losses to inflict losses. "Wobbly" Heather Heyer would be alive today had Democrat Terry McAuliffe not withdrawn police from the streets, and if the police had then done their jobs.
No one on the right wants to hear this, but the future is not a disaster, nor does it resemble a cliff; the future is what we make it, and some of us will make it, and some of us will be casualties. None of us are getting out alive.
If we fight we will suffer losses, and if we do not fight we will suffer losses which will obviously be worse. Communism is the most murderous -ism ever to grace the planet.
The 800 pound bear is at the mouth of the cave, trying to get in and start eating. Behind you, the kids are crying and the women are screaming. You and your friends have fire-hardened pointed sticks. The bear has 7 inch claws and can fit your entire head in it's mouth. Some of you are going to die earlier than you'd like.
Deal with it.
"You and your friends have fire-hardened pointed sticks": I suspect that the guys who survived to be out ancestors found ways of using hot rocks, burning brands, and boiling water.
DeleteThis wouldn't be the first time the Dems have used Trumped up charges of sexual harassment to tip the congressional scales in their favor. We are being played (again and again) and what bothers me most about it is the collaboration between Republican congressmen and the Dem dirty tricksters. The Republicans own the moniker of "the stupid party".
ReplyDelete"This weaponization of everything is going to tear us apart as a nation".
ReplyDeleteThat has been the goal of the radical Left for a century. They want to raise up the "New Man".
Moore, should be filing paperwork for a lawsuit against Allred and her client for slander and defamation of character. He should do this before the election. Trump has shown that aggressively pushing back against this kind of malicious character assassination is effective.
ReplyDeleteMoore said last week he would be filing a lawsuit against the Washington Post. It will be interesting to see if such a lawsuit is filed and the eventual status of same. Of course, if he is successful and wins, don't expect the MSM to publicize it.
