Not along the lines of John Lennon's silly song, but just imagine a morning where you wake up and do not have to hear or read about another atrocity carried out in the name of Islam . . .
With its savage attack on school children in Peshawar, the Taliban has done what Muslim groups all over the world do every day, to wit, prove that Western civilization is superior to the alternatives.
Now, of course, we all know that the real threat to humanity is a couple of Israeli apartment buildings being put up on the outskirts of Jerusalem and the CIA's water boarding of a handful of top terrorists.
We must keep our priorities in order, of course, lest our progressive overlords get angry with us . . .

ReplyDeleteThe truly wonderful thing about being sixty four is that I no longer even have to pretend to like the Beetles.Huzzah!
ReplyDelete"Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four!" You walked right into that one mate.
DeleteMichael Adams, at 63 I can say I never liked the smarmy pricks ever .
ReplyDeleteHere's an object lesson in negotiating with Terrorists:

As someone soon to be 61 who found the Beatles' music transformative, even if their politics often fell...a little short, I'll remind you of these lyrics from "Revolution":
ReplyDelete"But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao / You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow..."
It's possible that in 2014, if they were still around, they might have something potentially relevant to sing about. Just sayin'.
Catch it today. Childhood chum from Arkansas's posting from the ROK.

I still like the Beatles...well, most of it. The later drug-induced stuff is less inspiring, to say the least. My mom grew up with them--they used to play at school dances growing up.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Prog Evil, I will continue to fight in my own little way, with my own means.
Dip, would very much appreciate your thoughts on the ruble meltdown.
ReplyDeleteFracking did them in
DeleteFracking, corruption and Saudi economic war with Iran (not necessarily in that order).
DeleteOT: Sorry.
ReplyDeleteSaw this linked on Drudge and couldn't help thinking of the tale you told here.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/17/world/americas/ecuador-isaias-obama-campaign-robert-menendez-hillary-clinton.html
"The Obama administration overturned a ban preventing a wealthy, politically connected Ecuadorean woman from entering the United States after her family gave tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic campaigns, according to finance records and government officials.
The woman, Estefanía Isaías, had been barred from coming to the United States after being caught fraudulently obtaining visas for her maids. But the ban was lifted at the request of the State Department under former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton so that Ms. Isaías could work for an Obama fund-raiser with close ties to the administration."
Wondering if Putin's next move is to pull out of the test ban treaty. imo, that's pretty much the only way they'd know with any certainty whether their nukes still work, and knowing that is the only way back to a dipole superpower world.
ReplyDeleteGreat that a confluence of events has setback their economic dominance, though I suspect it's more a matter of OPEC members fearing fracking more than the USA's fracking directly affecting oil prices.

OPEC wants to see how many frackers can be put out of business from being overleveraged vs falling prices. Also, they are defending their own market share.
DeleteI can't help but notice "Our Little Barry" has begun to normalize relations with the former Soviet puppet Cuba. I guess he needs a friend close by off shore. He is welcome to go...just not on AF One.
ReplyDeleteImagine there is not heaven...All those people living for today wohoohoo...--John Lennon.
ReplyDeleteA wolf age, a sword age; no longer is there mercy among men--Icelandic Saga.
Without God, everything (including parricide) is lawful--Smerdyakov Fedorovich(?) and his half-brother (?) Vanya Fedorovich Karamazov
As for a realistic assessment of what's likely, the ancients win hands down over the 20th century..
Come to think of it, the accompaniment to "Imagine" is actually sort of depressing. Maybe, deep down inside, that studied Godlessness of the mid-20th century was a recipe for despair.
