Trump: He Does It, Again

Again. Yes, again. Donald Trump has caught Hillary Clinton's campaign either napping or so busy chasing money that they have forgotten to chase votes.

Trump made a terrific appearance at the Great Faith Ministries Church in Detroit. Yes, Detroit. Perhaps the most blighted city in America, Detroit is a city devastated by over five decades of Democratic/Progressive rule which turned an industrial jewel into a mound of crumbling concrete, rusting girders, overgrown lots, and destroyed lives. He did what Republicans should have been doing for years, to wit, go after black votes and not take for granted that the Democrats could take those votes for granted.

I watched his presentation to the overwhelmingly African-American audience.

He seemed genuine, humble, and to be thoroughly enjoying himself. It was a superb performance. His speech struck the right notes without being condescending or adopting a Hillary-type faux "black" accent. He also clobbered the Democratic narrative that he's a white supremacist, KKK supporter: Would the leaders of a black church invite the KKK into their midsts? Doubt it.

He made no effort to appear as somebody he's not.

His basic message was, hey, you know I am not black. You know that I am running as a Republican and that you vote almost exclusively Democratic. I am asking you to come back to the Republican party, the party of Abraham Lincoln, and to reject decades of failed Democratic policies. Let's turn things around for your community together. Give me a try.

Will it work?

I don't know.

I don't know how many black voters will switch party in November. Trump, however, might have just created a problem for Hillary anyhow by, perhaps, depressing the black turn-out for her. There might well be a significant number of black voters who while unable to bring themselves to vote Trump, will not vote Clinton, either. Maybe. It's worth a shot, and Trump took the shot.

He seems to be the only candidate trying to save the Republican party from itself.

Go Trump!

  1. In 2012 Mitt Romney got zero black votes in 59 voting districts in Philadelphia and 9 in Cleveland. Maybe Trump should bring his Detroit message to these spots too? He might at least get a few converts. (If, of course, things there are on the up and up.)

    1. Well, it seems pretty clear that they are NOT on the up and up.

    2. And in some of those districts voter turnout was over 100%. I'm not sure visiting those precincts would result in any change from the 2012 results -- the votes appear to have been less important than the counting of those votes.

    3. 100% turnout! ... was no one sick? ... had no one died since registration? ... where is all this "voter supression" that Dems keep professing? Clearly, Trump's concerns about voter fraud are justified.

  2. That's the key...he took a shot as only he could do it. Nobody doubts the plantation owners and overseers will do the job they must to cast doubt in the minds of any who might begin to think on their own, something Democrats pay their black figure heads well to do. Thinking people are a threat to Democrats. But still, some blacks did notice and will remember.

  3. Well, Al Sharpton is already indignant over that Trump speech, so there is that.

    1. I always hope Sharpton, et al, will have a Rumplestilskin moment, get so angry he will rip off his own leg or a variation thereof.

  4. Tremendous credit goes to Bishop Jackson and his church, who hosted Trump, and other courageous black figures, such as Cleveland pastor Darrell Scott. Scott saw the potential of a Trump candidacy long ago and has been lending his support. And of course, Ben Carson, who turned the other cheek after the primary and continues to do what he can for the good guys.

    1. Good point.. the obfuscation the media is using didn't catch everybody...
I have a feeling that as the race closes (the direction it seems to be going), the pressure will ratchet up on Hillary (or rather, her handlers). I don't think she/they respond well to being on the losing side of momentum.
Trump's still got a lot of work to do, because I was really hoping to see a landslide in this election.

  5. He should keep doing this about every other day. It isn't without risk, but the risk is worth it, I think.

    1. Yes, but it won't take long for the 'rats to stink up the message! Perhaps an even more productive daily schedule would start with visits to first responders in the Police precincts, Fire districts, as well as salutes to EMT, Paramedic, and military personnel! Those heroes who deal daily with the victims, perps and enemies created by the anti-America Democrat machine!

  6. My hope is that there's was some forethought into this campaign, and that the bait was laid out, the traps were sprung early, and they appeared to have had maximum effect on the race. The polls have looked terrible (such that they are). The dems/media has successfully case Trump as a bully and a bigot, and they've really pushed it far beyond anything before (even to the point of saying: wow we screwed up by comparing romney, mccain, and bush to the kkk, that was rhetorical excess but this is the real thing... *cough* right guys.. sure..) *But*, America has a pretty short attention span, and Americans don't like being made the fool. After the dehumanization/bestialization of Trump in the press, it would/will only take a few 'golden moments' to get Americans to say "what? ok.. Trump's got a flappy mouth, but he really aint so bad."

How does this help? What the dems and the media have put up against Trump is stuff he's *said* (generally twisted to their purposes). That is far more forgivable and forgettable than what Clinton has *done*.

  7. This election will (I hope) be undetermined right up until the morning after. A Trump landslide would be great but too much to hope for right now. The abandonment by the "donor class" is just amazing. Now, we know why Ryan's House did not return to "Regular Order" and pass 12 appropriations bills that would force Obama's hand.

  9. I remember all to well how the media made Goldwater out to be crazy, bellicose, ready to start a nuclear war, etc. When we see the same play, yet again, we ought to recognize it for what it is. Sad to say, people who were fooled once by this, and therefore inoculated against it, are a minority.

  10. Dip:

I look forward to your thoughts on the great staring contest between Obama and Putin. Of the Chinese forcing Obama to crawl out the back door of Air Force One. Or President Détente's comment about Obama being the son of a whore. Was this a bad week, or what?

    1. Only bad for America... Obama probably thinks it's been great!

    2. It was a fabulous trip for Obama. Everybody telling him to his face he is yesterday's man. The great stare down in center ring was concluded with Putin putting HIS hand on Obama's shoulder like an adult does with a child to guide them.

    3. To anyone even slightly familiar with Chinese culture, his treatment upon arrival was tantamount to spitting in his face. Additionally, the Chinese physical restraint of Susan and her gang was even more insulting.Alas, our media will ignore/gloss over this.

    4. I'm equivocal on that. Being the 'center of the universe', China has traditionally believed that anybody coming to deal with the government is pretty much a supplicant attempting to curry favor with the celestial kingdom. Obama played that role, umm... 'well'.

  11. The media has declared Trump to have 'flip flopped' on illegal immigration.
They have sold this line, and while I don't buy it, it's likely that most of America has.
*BUT* now the media/punditocracy is in a stink because this so-called 'flip flop' hasn't eroded Trump's base of support.
I think this adds some evidence to the theory that Trump's stance on illegal immigration does *not* 'resonate with some kind of latent racism in America', as soooo many pundits claim, but rather that his entire approach on immigration was there to show people in the US that he values them and thinks they, their jobs, and their families should be protected.
