Progressive Shambles

The opposition to Trump continues its shambolic ways.

The popular vote recount stunt in selected states failed spectacularly as Trump gained votes and the process showed that, in Michigan, for example, it was the Democrats who had engaged in vote fraud. Suddenly, the progs lost interest in recount efforts as those posed potential threat to the claim that Hillary won the popular vote. Prog icon, Jill Stein, however, managed to walk off with a couple of million bucks she had raised for recount expenses, so not all was bad news.

The effort to shame state electors into defying their states' vote tallies and refuse to vote for Trump, similarly backfired as five electors defected from Hillary's camp--that wasn't supposed to happen. The last ditch effort to have Congress not certify the electoral college results also proved a disastrous PR shambles. Poor, poor Joe Biden, who had to preside over the certification process, could not hide his frustration with his own party as various members tried to disrupt the certification process but did not even know the rules for how the vote tallies could be contested. Got to hand it to the VP: he managed the affair relatively well despite his Democratic colleagues.

Has-been director Michael Moore and other Hollyweird types are calling for a disruption of the January 20 inauguration, and making a big deal over their "brave" refusal to perform at that inauguration. Nobody cares. Hollyweirdos strutting their stuff just don't know what to do with an audience yawning in boredom.

As we have discussed before (here and here, for example) the progs also have hit on the scheme of bringing out some of America's highly politicized intel agencies to make thunderous claims, with little lightning, that the Russians threw the election to Trump: a totally confused mess which we have discussed before and is not worth going into too much detail, again. We have yet to see the devastating evidence that Putin got Trump elected. We see a lot of blanket assertions, we see a bizarre critique of Russia's state-owned TV service--Who watches that?--but no real facts or evidence that whatever it is the Russians did or allegedly did altered the electoral results. If Putin wanted Trump to win, I think, in fact, Putin will come to regret Trump's presidency. Russia's so far free-hand in Europe and the Middle East most likely will find opposition from a reinvigorated energy-independent United States headed by a man with a clear understanding of American interests. Putin will miss Obama, almost as much as Hollywood does.

Not a good time to be a prog.

BTW, on a more interesting note, I finally made the jump, and bought a S&W .357 Performance Center Model 327 TRR8. If the Diplowife doesn't cancel my credit card privileges and Governor Brown approves of my purchase it should be in my hands on January 16. This 327 just had that indefinable je ne sais quoi of a decidedly cool weapon--and being cool, after, is at least 50% of the game, right?

I look forward to the 16th and the 20th as particularly good days to be an American.

  2. Now you need a Henry Big Boy in 357. A guy “needs” to have a lever-action rifle chambered for his handgun cartridge.

    3. I have the other side of that equation: a Big Boy in .44 mag. Now I need the revolver.

  3. A friend has been sending loooong emails complaining about the (Russia Today) RT cable news station. I asked, "What markets actually get RT in the US?
A couple of years ago it went off the air in my part of NJ for lack of viewership. Miami doesn't have it. Between those 2 markets combined, we're talking 20+million population.

    Is it a NYC/DC thing?"

Do any of you get RT?

    1. Yes we do in many parts of North Carolina. Lots of NYC transplants down here. They insist on "bringing stupid" with them.

  4. Dip,

    That new revolver is LOVELY!

Did you get any optics to go with it?

Also, What is the statute in Kalifornia regarding the number of firearms one can purchase every month?

Watch out for the black helicopters over your house...

  6. Congratulations on the Performance Center .357. I passed up a Performance Center Model 629 in .44 magnum last week. I wanted it so bad I could taste it, but the price ($875) just seemed steep for a used pistol that I just plain didn't need. I made a lower offer and told the guy to call me if he wanted to sell at a lower price. I haven't heard back and don't expect to. Let us know how you like it!

  7. Leelu: The Dems throw out obvious lies, or, at least obvious to people who know, and see what will stick, and, while they wait to see, use the latest lie to stink up the room. In time, usually, the lie becomes less and less equivocal. e.g. "Stealing the election in Florida" More people understand, now, that there is no such thing as a dimpled chad. There are still dedicated flat earthers out there, though.

There's a funny thing about the WMD in Iraq. Everyone, including the Iraqi officer corps, believed Saddam had them, hence, their desperate plea for deployment of same, as they were being over run by coalition forces. Still, "Bush lied."

I think that Trump as Russian plant will turn out like that one, as he proves much less "flexible" with the Russkies than the present incumbent has proven to be.

  9. "Has-been director Michael Moore and other Hollyweird types are calling for a disruption of the January 20 inauguration". We now know that 5000 NG troops will be used as additional security. I would love to see a NG fixed bayonet poking Moore's belly.
Bikers for Trump were to be there to help with security. I don't see a need now to go. Instead I'll watch on TV the idiots try and disrupt the inauguration.
Maybe we should tell the young Leftists about Kent State.

    1. After seeing the news about NG I googled it and 6000 were deployed for Peace Prize's 2nd swearing in. I am surprised there was not an increase for this one both given the increasing number of lone wolves actingout as well as the threats coming from Soros Brown Shirts.

I hope Bikers 4 Trump do come to DC.

  10. Not trying to be a “chicken little” here, but I guess my question for all the “enlightened” progs would be; just what is it they want? Are they advocating insurrection, civil war over Trumps election? Our civil war was one of the bloodiest in history; have they not been paying attention to the ongoing Syrian conflict? I can only foresee the ongoing temper tantrum (boycotts, protests, civil disruptions, silly/pointless litigation, and of course, the ever increasing and tiresome histrionics of the democratic party) of the left having far reaching consequences, which I hope and pray will not lead to blood shed in the streets at some point.

  11. What using happens to the losing party in a presidential election is they turn on each other and within the party point the finger at each other for losing.

  14. Putin's "free-hand" in Europe is hardly a capricious, aggressive revanchism. Obama and the rabid Nulacon meddled big time in Ukraine to bring down the government with precisely no assurances as to the Russian strategic interest in Crimea. Who the heck did did they think they were question mark. Why was Putin's action in Crimea unreasonable? And whose hands were clean in E. Ukraine, though there again, like Crimea, it would be Ukrainian territory today but for Obama's stupid, aggressive meddling. Let's all read that last sentence again.

In Syria, it's clear that the Russians destroyed Obama's plans involving an alliance with every repulsive state and actor, and the assistance of various European lickspittles, to wage aggressive, illegal war on Syria to vindicate no US interest whatsoever. None.

You appear (sic) to think Trump might be in synch with the rottenness of prior foreign policy. I hope you are wrong. He comes across to me, on limited evidence, as having an awareness that Putin has been the grown-up or the mensch.

  15. In Texas, where Americans are still in the majority, so far, Obamistas are much less vocal. So, my son's Uncle-in-law, and the organist at my church have both been heard to say something oblique about the coming horrible times. I do not really know exactly what they are afraid will happen. Perhaps Trump will install a rape-room in the White House? Are lynch mobs forming up to start on reducing the 13% of our people of African descent? Their tone is ominous, but their forebodings are so imprecise. Just what, if it does not happen, will reassure them by its non-occurrence?

  16. I will be the first to say that the economy is not on a sound footing, a fact which DJT dare not mention, lest he be accused of talking it down. Whatever he does, at first, will make things better, but the huge debt, the trade deficit, the government deficit, (We can not just quit, cold turkey.) all are land mines waiting for the one wrong foot to touch them. S**+ will happen, and Trump will be loudly and enthusiastically blamed.

Even unleashing the oil producers will have a scary effect on Texas, because, as the barrel-price drops, we'll be left with an awful lot of capped wells and unsold real estate. The real estate market in Texas is currently a speculative bubble, and those, I well remember, eventually burst. The first sign that price increases are not continuing will bring a stall and then a fall. My wife and I hope to have the cash on hand to buy something, when it happens, but even that is tricky.

Still, I have yet to see a hint of evidence that the Democrats understand economics well enough to predict these dire events, so what is it that they are dreading?

I agree. Crimea was a long time Soviet base and Russia seemed to me to have a valid claim.

I picked up my Christmas present on January 2 after Jerry's waiting period. It's a nice Walther P4 M&P model. We are off to Arizona in a week where waiting periods are measured in minutes.
