A Quick Note on Hillary's Emails

I haven't commented much on this topic because I don't want to give the impression that I have some sort of insider knowledge about how SecState Clinton handled her classified communications. I don't. I never sent her a message directly, and treated only with her staff. I met her on several occasions and sat in meetings with her, but never exchanged emails with her.

That said, I am troubled by what is clearly a big lie coming out from her and her defenders. While sitting in my Vegas hotel last night, I was watching some Democrat operative or another on CNN (I think)--can't remember his name. He was saying something I am also seeing the Hillary troll force write on social media boards. Just to remind, we have reports coming out from intel IGs and DOJ that it seems that some of Hillary's emails contained--despite repeated denials--highly classified information and were sent through her off-the-books home server maintained by a company, reportedly, with a shady past.  We see her stooges claim that Clinton never sent any email labelled Top Secret/SCI. OK. Folks, please, that ain't the point. Of course she didn't send any email with that label on it. Nobody is saying she ran exact copies of State, NSA, CIA, DIA, etc., cables through her server. The accusation, and it seems to have validity, is that she DISCUSSED TS/SCI and other classified material over this unsecure, off-the-books server, AND discussed it with persons not cleared for it. That, my friends, is indeed against the law and punishable by jail.

Hillary Clinton is a liar who does not think the laws apply to her. If I had handled classified information at State the way she did, I would be in jail. Now we will see how our highly politicized DOJ handles the issue.

  1. How she is treated by the "Highly Politicized DOJ" will depend on how the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue wants her to be treated, No better, No worse.

  2. I'd pay a whole lot of money to know what documents Sandy Berger eliminated from the national archives. They must've been huge for him to have taken that kind of risk.

This is just a single point in a stream of "Clintons first, USA second" events.

  3. If she comes out with a strong endorsement of the Iranian deal I bet her DOJ problems disappear. I've said all along that Hillary has that indefinable quality of someone who's time has passed.

    1. She's been an obtrusive public presence for 24 years, she's 69 years old, and there is a large swath of the electorate who just despise her. The political parties have on about two occasions nominated someone who vaguely resembled Hillary: Lyndon Johnson in 1964 and Richard Nixon in 1968. Johnson was an incumbent President in 1964 and had high approval ratings. His personal transgressions were covered up by his staff and by the newspapers; he was not a national figure until 1953 and even then only assiduous newspaper readers would have been familiar with him; also, he was at the time more than a decade younger than Hildebeast is now. Nixon's a closer analogue. The thing is, you'd be hard put (ca. 1968) to identify anything Nixon had ever done that was peculiarly unethical. He hung rubber chickens around the neck of Jerry Voorhis and Helen Gahagan Douglas and both seemed to think they'd been ill-dealt with; politicians who lose elections can be like that. He was also a good deal younger than Hildebeast is now, had not been out and about as long, and had the wind at his back regarding electoral cycles generally and the mismanagement of the VietNam War.

    2. Nixon also had an almost unhealthy concern about his underlings, which Hillary and Obama conspicuously do not have. Had Nixon just cut those dopes who broke into the Watergate loose, Mark Felt would never have been able to mount his coup d'etat. Hillary will send even Huma under the bus. I'm not sure that will be enough but it might be.

    3. Shortly before the Felt revelation, I saw an article by Woodward and Bernstein that persuasively demonstrated (using vignettes from All the President's Men) that 'Deep Throat' was a composite. I still believe that. I do not doubt that Felt was a source for them, but my guess is that the addled old nonagenarian was doing them a courtesy to head off critics which were on to their literary scam.

I doubt Nixon could have 'cut them loose'. Gordon Liddy, GC to the Committee to Re-Elect the President was one degree of separation from the President and James McCord, Chief of Security therein, no more than two. Howard Hunt had been an aide to Charles Colson. Nixon likely did not know these men, but he knew them men who hired them.

The times were different and the revelation that the President lied his tuchus off for 26 months about the Watergate burglary pretty much destroyed his standing. Also, the press was more professional then than now and was working for the opposition when they were not being professional. Felt did not wreck Nixon. Nixon wrecked Nixon, with a generous assist from creatures like John Ehrlichman and John Mitchell.

  5. We currently have a sailor facing 30 years for taking pics inside of a submarine, classified but at a significantly lower level than what Hillary was dealing with.
Why should SHE not be facing the same scrutiny and punishment?
    (yep, that was sarcasm).

    2. Interestingly, when Billy Jeff was in office, an Army Sergeant was given 20 years for having consensual sex with one of his subordinates. Seems he had a "power advantage" over the younger soldier. BJ, of course as the President, had no similar "power advantage" over an intern.

    1. If previous history is a guide, the probability of a generic Democrat winning the presidency in these circumstances is around about 20%. Hildebeeste, unlike Lincoln Chafee, suffers from the vigorous revulsion of north of 40% of the public. If you want to lose your money, bet on Hillary.

  11. Obama will not procecute. The drip of information is to clear the electoral field for an Obama acolyte to enter the race. The DNC is on board which is why the Democratic debates are so late.

My bet is President Moochelle O.

    1. Bad bet. Years ago, Patrick J. Buchanan, offered this assessment of Mooch based on his acquanitanceship with and observation of her predecessors: "not a happy camper". Buchanan at the time thought it a reasonable wager that BO would leave office after one-term due to this issue. Mooch has, over a period of more than twenty years, demonstrated little ambition for any kind of accomplishment. She quite practicing law in 1991 and allowed her license to lapse in 1993. She had a series of perplexing or stupid jobs in the local nomenklatura, and it's a reasonable wager that it was all graft. She got a huge raise when her husband was elected to the U.S. Senate. Her position at the University of Chicago Hospitals was eliminated after she vacated it.

The smart money says Mooch is a woman who likes the finer things in life, full stop. She's not achievement motivated, not power motivated, or all that interested in policy.

  12. Who gets fired when this cycle's "El Nino" results in moderate or little rainfall for California? There are a zillion IPCC-affirmed prognosticators telling us we're in for the "El Nino of El Ninos".... they've got *maybe* three decades worth of data on a supposedly 12-year-cycle phenomenon. That's less than *three* actual data points.
Got three heads in a row..the coin MUST be biased.. I'm going to bet my entire life savings on a tails.. at 1:5 odds?

    1. I do read it, but please be advised that the moderator ("Sundance") and quite a number of those in the comment boxes trade in paranoia. The moderator fancies he's 'proved' that there's an elite conspiracy to 'rig' the nomination process to deliver the prize to Jeb Bush and the commenter corps is shot through with people who fancy there is 'no evidence' that the President was born in Honolulu. They have some interesting discussions, but it's a sinkhole of self-important stupidity.

    2. This is a personal attack not an attack on well reasoned arguments that Sundance makes.

    3. What 'well reasoned arguments'? He will not define his terms and has no raw material for proofs. When that's the case, you have no 'reasoned arguments', you have imaginative speculation. The problem with that site is that the participants cannot tell one from the other.

  14. Bill Clinton worked out a deal on the golf course today with Obama. Vernon Jordan was on hand to mediate, I believe. Evan Bayh was on FOX tonight, calming spinning this email scandal into a minor inadvertent mistake. Hillary was in Iowa serenely prancing around talking about "partisanization". The dems will roll out the party stalwarts to make this scandal go away over the next days and as the Republicans roar, the dems will spin it as another vast, right-wing conspiracy.

I wrote about what happened to me during impeachment, when I wrote comments on the Excite message boards. I couldn't get anyone to listen to me then, but from my experience she is above the law and they will spin this scandal into dust in the wind.

  18. OT Astroturf demonstrations appear an odd way to conduct foreign policy.

Hard-line activist organizations, such as MoveOn.Org, the National Iranian-American Council, the Daily Kos, and others, have come together as part of their “60 Days to Stop A War” campaign in order to pressure legislators to vote for the Iran deal.
