Good or Bad for the Jews

"Good or Bad for the Jews"

Many years ago, and for many years, I would travel to Morocco to visit uncles, cousins, and my paternal grandmother. Some lived in Tangiers;...

Back to the Keyboard

OK.

Back from our road trip to northern California. While at his house, I discovered that my oldest son did not have a firearm. This was intolerable; I felt as though I had failed as a parent.  So, of course, I accused him of being a traitor and an embarrassment to the men of the family. I got him to accompany me to a local gun store in Roseville. We bought a .40 cal Rock Island Armory (not a brand I  know well) which he liked. In ten days, he will have it. I continue with my crusade to defend the second amendment one kid at a time. You're welcome.

I tried to stay away from politics, but it was hard. As part of my effort to break the addiction to politics, I watched some Olympics basketball (US vs. Spain; US vs Serbia; Australia vs Spain) which was fun. On the Australia vs. Spain game the Diplowife and I split our support; she cheering for her old country, and I for the representative of the Anglosphere. Sigh. I thought the Aussies would pull it out, but . . . one lousy point, one lousy point, one . . .

Speaking of one point, it appears some of the presidential election polls have begun to turn around as Trump--clearly--has taken The Diplomad's advice, and gotten himself a good speech and a script. Some polls--for what they're worth--have the candidates about a point or so apart, with some having Trump in the lead. My prediction: unless there is massive electoral fraud if the polls are close, if it's "too close to call," Trump will win. I know it's anecdotal, but I keep running into people who privately tell me they're voting Trump but tell the outside world they're undecided. I think there might be a lot of that. But, I thought we would have President Romney, so . . .

As soon as I get a little more settled, walk my dogs, and stop vibrating from the nearly one thousand miles I just drove, I am going to concentrate on writing something good. Not my usual stuff, but something good. Promise.

  1. RIA is owned by Armscor, in the Phillipines. Their 1911's used to be just acceptable until they bought Colt's old tooling. Since then the guns have been very reliable. For the price they're an outstanding deal. I'm planning on buying one of their tactical models for my girl.

    1. I bought one of their "Citadel" models of the 1911, and have been quite happy with it(using the Colt tooling). Not a "UGE" fan of the .40, as it has a pretty big bite, and has a higher likelihood of over-penetration. But it will most definitely ruin a perp's day...

  3. Here's my theory: you remember how we thought Romney had a real chance? And how disappointing it was when he lost? Well, I think that may be the Dems this year. I look forward to someone like Jake Tapper saying that she can't give up until we see a few more counties in Florida.

  4. Roseville? Where's the bravery in Roseville?
Bravery is being conservative in San Francisco!
Not that there aren't idiot liberals in the foothills, there's definitely a growing fungus of them... but still.

  5. Where in northern California does you son live? I lived out there for four years in the early 70's. Marin County and Healdsburg (northern Sonoma County). Also spent my last year in the army stationed out of Ft. Ord a few years earlier. Been back in Kansas/Missouri since 1977.

  7. I do feel your pain - my next project is to convince my college-age son to take the class to get his concealed carry permit and then choose his gun. I personally had my fill of California after 34 years of watching it slide down the tubes and moved back to the Midwest last winter. I love having all 4 seasons ... all in one day! Taking my concealed carry class this weekend (yes, it's that easy here), then buying myself a new pistol as a present. It's a great country! Well, so long as we keep the Clintons out of the White House ...

    1. Good Work J S!
My Midwest farmers daughter(my wife) and my daughter took their 1st steps toward CCL this week, both came home with range targets full of holes in 'center of body mass'! Agree keeping the Clintons out of Govt. is the priority, then its keeping the rest of the anti-America types on the other side of the fence/wall! 'Happy Shootin'...

It's not at the polls but the electoral college where you can expect to see the chicanery.

    1. The best electoral college conspiracy theory I've heard recently concerns this no name ex-CIA agent the NeverTrumpers are running for president. The plan, according to some, is that he is Mormon and might be able to win Utah and even Idaho, on that basis. The theory is that he is a stalking horse for Romney and the hope is that, if no majority and the election goes to the House, Romney might be a viable alternative to Trump with enough Mormons. I hate to think of Romney allowing such a plot but....

  9. I have been seeing a few Trump/Pence bumper stickers on vehicles around the suburbs of Portland. It would be quite a risky thing to venture into full on Hipster Portland with such things on your vehicle, but even to see them out here in the suburbs is somewhat heartening. In 2012, I saw few Romney stickers, but I just chalked that up to don't want spit, milkshakes or keys on my car careful. I saw far less Obama signs and stickers from the usual denizens who were just going crazy for him in 2008. It gave me the false impression that Romney had a chance. There are plenty of Bernie stickers around, in fact it is something of a honor badge with the lefties to have one of those. They act like it was an "Alamo service patch". But there are few and far between Hillary stickers. It seems that it is hip to support Boss Tweed in a Pantsuit.

    1. Come on over across the river! We're braver on this side, I think. The guy that cracks me up the most is at a house I pass on the way home. He has a truck covered in Ron Paul stickers. First he put up a Hillary for Prison 2016 sign. That one lasted about a week and a half. Then, he put up a Trump sign. I've been waiting to see if anything happened to it, as he has a house at the corner, next to a traffic light. It looks like he has moved it in the house, where it sits in the front window. I've seen other Trump signs vandalized, so it's probably a good idea to move it inside. I haven't seen the anti-Trumpers breaking windows yet.

    2. As in Vancouver Washington? I worked there for many years, and yes the climate is a bit less hostile to conservative views there. The Lefties in Portland mock our northern neighbor referring to it as "Vantucky".

    3. Yep, the original Vancouver. Unfortunately, the Lefties are starting to take us over too. They managed to primary David Madore, who did a wonderful job of shining a light on the corruption here.

Oh, and the guy with the Trump sign now has one in the window AND in the front yard!

  11. Lewis,
Huma Abedin was fully vetted by the State Dept. in 2008? Is Foggy Bottom so riddled with liberals that there is no hope for us ... even if Trump were elected?
