The Progressive Assault on "We"

I know that I start many of these posts by saying I have already said what I am about to say, and, therefore, will try not  to be too repetitious, and then I proceed to be repetitious. Well, I am doing it here, sorry, but I will be mercifully brief.

The progressives at it, yet again. I have written before about the progressive assault (here, here, here, here, here, here, for example) on what makes us a country, on what makes us "We, the People" in a union for the common good. This kneel for the anthem stunt is another in that long line of attacks. if you have time, please go read those linked posts.

These attacks all have one thing in common: they seek to dissolve the glue that holds us together. They originate in our decrepit educational institutions and spread out from there. We have produced hordes of illiterate, pampered, self-important and entitled brutes, and this is the result.

  1. This is the inevitable result of the obsession with "identity politics" and "hyphen" identities.

We should all be "Freedom-loving Americans".

  2. Some things need to be said over and over again. No need for apologies.

  3. In the fog of disapprobation I have quite forgotten what this particular protest represents. I am aware that literally tens of people care. Grown men playing a boys game.

  4. I could not agree more with what you say here. They do indeed want to dissolve the glue that holds us together, to have us identify as different tribes, then to turn each tribe against the other. And they are succeeding.

  5. Watched a snippet of the "Patriots" and Houston game yesterday. Noticed that the emblems of both teams contain red, white and blue with stars ... obviously taken from our flag. Perhaps they should change their iconography too?

And Roger Goodel might also have second thought about his liberal loopiness if Congress were to start charging the NFL taxes?

  6. The war against America continues. Every part of our culture is being attacked. The pressure is building.

I've had some experience with war. It horrifies me to think that a war could happen here. Another civil war is unthinkable, but that's where we are heading, and I don't know how to stop this juggernaut.

I'm pretty sure that destroying the NFL won't make things better.

  7. They are winning. They are mobilized. We, the traditionalists/conservatives, are losing, and America will be destroyed. Because we by nature are individualists, because we are well-mannered and eschew the vulgarity/coarseness and violence of the left, because we are politically lazy - and because we are politically woefully inept. We watch the left tearing America apart - and we cluck among ourselves, but WE DO NOTHING. We did nothing to save O'Reilly or Bolling, we are doing nothing to save Confederate history, we are not organizing a boycott of the NFL or boycotts against anything or in support of anyone or anything, we continue watching TV and movies made by people who despise us, we do nothing about our tax dollars supporting leftist universities, we do nothing to support Trump - half of us even are now turning against him because he is not perfect.

The left has Soros and others who mobilize action. The right has no such figures. Even Trump, a miracle himself, has not realized he has to MOBILIZE his support into VISIBLE ACTION. He rails against Congress but neglects to instruct his supporters to take actual action to bombard Congress with our show of disapproval - phone calls, faxes, emails, protests at town hall meetings. I have spent 5 months trying to get someone on the right with access and resources to create a web site/face book page to mobilize the right generally and Trump supporters specifically into concrete, visible action. No response from those who don't know me. Refusal to send idea on from the person I actually know with contacts in Trumpworld. (He didn't want to use up any favors he might have. Dumb, dumb, dumb. This wasn't about a favor.) I have written several times on this site about need to mobilize and need for some sort of website/facebook page to give instructions and mobilize/organize us. Has Diplomad paid attention or mentioned this to any of his contacts? Bolton's letter. Yeah, fine and good. Has it occurred to any of the signatories that voters should be expressing their concern about Iran to Congress? That nothing matters WITHOUT ACTION? Only one issue on the right is successful - defense of the 2nd Amendment. And that is because the NRA mobilizes support. Why isn't there mobilization on all the other issues? With the sometimes exception of pro-life, nothing, zilch, nada.

The absence of action on our part is glaring. Why are we so stupid, so inactive? The left is out there fighting. We write scholarly articles and bitch among ourselves - maybe go to a rally or convention of like-minded people, write or post on blogs read by like-minded people. Yes, we vote. Big deal. With the exception of Trump, the people we vote for are members of the Uniparty, or if not, rendered ineffective by the Uniparty.

As we DO nothing, too unorganized, too prissy to dirty our hands with vulgar coercive tactics, too lacking in initiative, too lazy, too stupid, contenting ourselves with bitching among ourselves, too busy attacking Trump because he may not be perfect on every issue. We are losing. We will lose America. Yes, I am angry.

    1. I see hope in demographics. Birth rates of progressives are very low. If I were a prog, I wouldn't have kids... I'd be to busy thinking everything was horrible and only the government can save me. Who wants to bring a child into a world like that? (Oh.. .maybe someone who thinks there's something larger at work at work in the world than just the government... oh wait... then I'd be a conservative!)

  9. These antics will probably come to Europe soon, maybe first to France, they have many blacks in their soccer-teams."Identity politics" and provocations are trendy today, especially among spoiled people who risk nothing. They don´t care that they might provoke people who spend their hard earned money to watch a game etc. They just care about themselves, their "feelings", their "rights". That is post-modernism. I read this about the prog/leftists MOD : "Identify a respected institution, kill it, gut it, wear the carcass as a skin suit and demand respect". The NFL seems to be the latest target here. Some of your universities are already down.
DiploMad, you write about dissolving the glue that holds Americans together. Well, there are encouraging things happening. The election in Germany for example. It was an earthquake really. I don´t know how it was reported in the US, maybe that some Hitler-clone now enters the parliament. However, the AFD ( Alternative für Deutschland) managed to go from 4,9 % to more than 13 % and is now entering the Parliament for the first time. The party took many votes from Merkels party and the parties to the left. It has grown big in the Eastern part of Germany, poorer, more down-trodden, more plagued by migrant problems. And the typical voter is an ethnic German man ( a "white" man, the sort of person the progressives hate ). This party is leaning nationalistic and wants to protect German life and culture. This is a phenomenom happening in many places in Europe. This is the white mans "identity politics". And it is astonishing that it started to happen in Germany too. Liberating. And good. We need respect for our national cultures. And not politicizing sports is such a thing for example. More glue to the people.

    1. Indeed, Swedish lady, it was reported here that there were protests in Berlin against the "Nazis"/AFD. I found it quite fascinating that the former leader of AFD (who has now said she will not sit with the party in Parliament) is a lesbian who is, apparently, against gay marriage! Talk about a topsy turvy situation. I did note that it was reported that AFD did well in eastern Germany, including winning the most votes of any party in Saxony. I find it quite, quite interesting (and a sign of hope) that much of Eastern Europe - those countries/regions that used to be behind the Iron Curtain - has resisted to a much greater degree than Western Europe the influx of migrants from anywhere but especially Muslim countries AND the terribly destructive culture of political correctness that allows their own western culture to be weakened and eventually destroyed.

    2. Sarah M, isn't it odd that the Iron Curtain countries were protected from all this by the evils of communism?

    3. Could it be that Marxism, in all of its manifestations, is credible only to people who've never had to live under it?

    4. Oh, yes, most definitely! I think those that grew up behind the Iron Curtain know what freedom is, and why it's so important to keep it. They would certainly have experience with government doublespeak, pretending everything is fine even while the grocery store shelves are empty, etc.

  10. Let's be real here: if Trump had kept his trap shut about Colin Kaepernick, the en masse kneeling never would have happened, and the obnoxious little twerp (Kaepernick, just for clarification) would have faded into richly deserved obscurity.

Trump was deliberately as provocative as possible, as as usual made it about him. He does that whenever attention is off him. He did that during the campaign and has continued it into his presidency. So is he a stupid, uncontrolled megalomaniac, or does he have a purpose in inserting himself back into the news cycle every few days? I think there is a purpose. I'm not always sure what, but it is inescapable to notice Trump deliberately creates a circus around himself and keeps the media focused on him. That makes life harder for him. But note what the media attention is rarely on: awkward stories about Trump's businesses or those who work for him or used to work for him. The media was paying attention to Paul Manafort and his problems under the Mueller investigation. Now they've forgotten completely about Manafort. Other than D o J as to immigration and DeVos at Education, none of the Cabinet secretaries or what they are doing is getting any attention: meaning they have been free to carry out Trump's agenda without massive orchestrated protest. There are not daily mass protests descending on the EPA or Dept. of Labor as the Obama regs are rolled back. Carson is apparently changing lots of regs and programs. No media attention; no organized protests. Media was starting to speculate on ways we might have to shut down N. Korea military capacity. Media has forgotten about that. Remember the problem with Trump University? It made a $25 mil. settlement. Virtually no media reporting on that. Why? Trump tweeted something that day - I forget what - and all the media attention was again on him.

The pattern is clear. So ponder it again. I too find it very jarring and wish Trump had not turned the kneeling into a personal fight between him and every athlete in the NFL and probably the NBA. But I also think he knew what he was doing and has a strategic reason for doing it. At least I hope so, because this one is not going away. Trump had to know that.

    2. I'm agreed with you Msher... I think there's something more to it. Trump no doubt loves the headlines.... but there's something else. At every point in this post-2015 circus, Trump has behaved inexplicably, and wound up benefiting from it. It's a big leap to convert that to some sort of intentional gambit, but at some point, after enough of these crazy hijinks, eventually we've got to face the fact that it may be by design rather than accident.
Note that efforts to repeal Obamacare have been declared dead almost every month by the media since Trump took office. So something else is going on.... Not quite sure what. I'm not even completely certain it's 'good'... but it's probably not bad.

Something else Trump has kept attention off - his tax returns. To my knowledge he has never released them. The media has been way too busy to remember that. There is no attention to what the Trump Organization is doing. Mike Pence has been out of the spotlight and is free to operate. Trump had decades of playing with the New York media. I lived in Manhattan for decades - through Trump marriages, divorces and bankruptcies and his trying to force the old widow out of her Atlantic City house. Trump knows what bad press is! I think we are agreeing he may be mistaken in some of his judgments, but he is making judgments, not just acting impulsively out of ego.

    4. Another thing he has kept attention away from is the progress at reversing regulations and the progress at getting as much done as can be accomplished without Congress. I doubt this is all about his taxes.

  11. Dear D'Mad,

I don't recall you writing all that often about the Progressives tendencies ... compared to all their shrill noise.

But more to the point: they've gotten to the point now where they're shutting down their own in pursuit of violating "norms" for behavior. See, for example, San Fran Nan's encounter with the "new left." Their real game is "See Who Shouts The Loudest!" until there is only one.

  12. The Kaepernick Kaper is almost out of a movie script. "Oh... first you'll do it... people won't follow you... but then you'll be opposed.. and then the whole nation will rise up behind you!!!! It'll be glorious!!! And then..."

Yes... in real life there is no 'fade to black'.
Kaepernick should've been fired the very first time he chose to disrespect the flag, the military, and the sacrifices of our forefathers. It doesn't matter *why* he's doing it, it first and foremost matters, *what* he was doing.

"I'm going to go pee on the graves of dead soldiers to protest the rezoning of a vacant lot across town from commercial to residential!" - Kaepernick's next stupidity.
