Apologies for having neglected this little blog for so long. I have been traveling back-and-forth to Spain, spent some 10 days as poll watcher in North Carolina, and have been writing on X/Twitter.
Well, what do we make of the electoral results of November 5? What do we Magas do now? To start, we gloat. Yes, gloat. I do not hesitate in rubbing the noses of my "Blue Friends" in the Trump victory. I, particularly enjoy reminding them that I had predicted Trump would win the popular vote and get 312 electoral votes. I am also enjoying watching MSNBC, CNN, and the other mainstream media outlets conduct postmortems on the election. Harris lost, per them, because of racism, patriarchy, bias against a mixed race marriage. prejudice against LGBT (etc), hatred for immigrants, and so forth--you can fill in the rest. YAWN! There is mild criticism of Harris not going on "right wing" podcasts, not responding forcefully to anti-trans ads fro the Trump camp, not holding enough rallies, not enough time to introduce herself, and some other technical issues. They have nothing that gets to the fundamentals of why this incompetent fraud lost. The reason she lost is simple: the leaders of the Democratic Party are CRAZY. Yes, it's that simple. THE modern American "left" is insane. Its leaders are stuck in a bubble echo chamber, hearing only themselves, and their, yes, insane ideas. They are as, even old Bolshie Bernie Sanders recognizes, completely detached from working people and their concerns and aspirations. Note to the DNC: Abortion on demand is not the top concern of most Americans, even most American women. Transgender affirming "medical care" for children is not what parents worry about. Providing tax-funded free stuff, including medical care, and accommodations to millions of illegal aliens, many of them criminals in their home countries, is not what the average American favors. What do we worry about? It's not Project 2025, but taxes, inflation, employment, crime, and war.
Assuming the crazies don't kill him before January 20, Trump must work at warp speed. He will have at best two years to put the Big Ship on a proper course. After two years, the next presidential campaign begins, and it's likely that the Dems will take the House of Representatives. He has to be ready to go with a package of executive actions and draft legislation making its way thought Congress, at hyperwarp speed. He must immediately close the border, tell Mexico that remain in Mexico is back or we shut the border completely to all people and goods, that Mexico must take back the people who entered the US via the southern border, and instruct ICE and Border Patrol that deportations are back on. Employers must be told that immigration laws will be enforced; he must inform states, counties, and cities that provide safe haven for illegal migrants that federal funding has ended. Begin lifting restrictions on oil exploration and production. He must begin to implement tariffs on the worst trade offenders, while introducing legislation to lower taxes on workers and on companies that make their stuff here, especially ships, planes, cars, trucks, computers. Must begin to cut the massive federal bureaucracy--Departments of Energy, Interior, Education, Labor, and Commerce are prime targets--and move chunks of it out of DC, e.g. move Agriculture closer to where there is agriculture. Wokeness in the military, intelligence, and law enforcement must end.
There is so much more, but that will do for now. I will write about foreign policy in a bit.
Meanwhile, resume gloating.
While you've been absent without leave I've been enjoying a variety of commentators on US politics. I have especially enjoyed the chap who insists there are six Bidens (i.e. the Vegetable and five body-doubles) and likewise two Trumpsters. I also think it's time to enjoy this again.

Nice to hear from you, again. I know if I could overcome my hatred of social media, I could partake of your wisdom on X. As much as I like Musk that is still a bridge to far... maybe someday. Once distrust takes hold it is difficult to shake.
ReplyDeleteAs for the election, it is not over. Trump won but that are a few Senate seats within reach for those willing to cheat. Just last night a video surface from a Pennsylvania election center. It showed 7 or 8 semi trucks streaming into the parking lot. Bet guess those trucks are/were filled with 'lost or missing ballots' all likely to contain votes for a Dumbocrat Senate candidate. The fight is off to a good start but the Devil is not easily defeated.

ReplyDeleteIt's not "Abortion on demand", it's a "person" has a right to decide what to do with their own body (which is Bravo Sierra) since, as I explain to my wife, who is very far right on just about everything else, it's murder: pure and simple.
ReplyDeleteInflation/taxes:
I come from a period that if a firm offered you $50k upon graduation from college, you jumped on it, they thought a lot of you. It appears that an equivalent today is ~$200k+.
You're paying taxes on inflation: pure and simple.
You're paying humungous taxes because the gubbmint has to replace the bearings on the printing presses every couple of days 'cause they turn to overheated dust they're running them that fast.
And just where is all this tax money going? Have you ever met a poor politician? What was the net worth of Barack Hussein Obama before he went into politics? Bernie Sanders?
Are you paying for the upkeep (food and shelter) of the millions of river swimmers?
My parents were legal immigrants from Central and Eastern Europe who spoke English (poorly at first, perhaps, but it was understandable) and began work the minute they stepped off Ellis Island.
Rant over.
One advertisement summed it up for me, and I might butcher it.
ReplyDelete"Trump is for you. Kamala is for they/them."
That has nothing to do with gender or pronouns, it speaks to democrat lack of sanity. It might get worse for them in 2026.

I guess I'll have to follow you on X now to get your insights and humor.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you again. In the future, please break up those large paragraphs into several smaller one. Massive paragraphs are quite difficult to read
ReplyDeleteWell done the USofA. Sanity returns to the White House.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back Dip. Warp speed is the goal, not a day to waste.
ReplyDeleteBeen following you on X - and appreciate you taking the time to be a poll watcher. Nice to have you back here for long form commenting.
ReplyDeleteBigger question, are you going to be taking a position in the new administration?
ReplyDeleteMaybe take over the whitehouse pre-existing DEI department and show them some 'sensitivity'? "You're all fired. As a fellow sensitive person, I will hold the door open as you leave. No... no tissue, hold it together, it's embarrassing for the entire country."

I second the motion. Diplo for Hatchet Man without Portfolio.
DeleteOne would hope that some of the two year "honeymoon" (Ha!) period would include Trumpista oppo researchers getting naked pictures of every Democrat in Congress. Just for our edification, of course.
ReplyDeleteWhile this makes the third time I have voted for DJT, I respectfully disagree in part with our host's analysis. "Gender-affirming care" is a concern of many parents--in that they are deeply worried that their children will be taken away if some idiot colleague of mine (I am a teacher) convinces little Johnny that he's really little Susie, and needs to have his male genitalia cut off.
ReplyDelete--Kepha
I'll make another oservation: thanks to the efforts of Leftist "immigrants' rights" groups, the term "immigrant" no longer means simply someone who has moved in from another country, but someone who has entered illegally. I can't help that Mr. Trump has picked up this usage, even if the Frist Lady is a citizen by naturalization rather than birth.
ReplyDeleteApparently, Green Card holders and naturalized citizens have been shunted off into a new category yet to be named.
I dunno about that, I keep hearing 'illegal immigrant' and 'undocumented immigrant' on the two sides of the disaster.
DeleteI'm not sure what terms Trump uses. It's the media and rabid left which clearly erroneously applies Trump words about illegal immigrants to those who waited in line. If one is talking about a porous border and illegal crossings, and subsequently cites the criminality of immigrants, it takes a deliberate and deceitful turn to make that about those here legally.
This isn't anything new, Bill O'Reilly was perhaps the biggest target of this stupidity. On at least five occasions I read long outraged rants about O'Reilly saying something truly horrendous, but when reviewing the actual footage, what he said made perfect sense and really allowed no rational refutation.
The left gains power by controlling the usage of words.

Welcome back to your blog...its good to read your words.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and gloat for a time...we have earned that much.
Then back to work and vigilance. I would not put it past the Statist Never-trump Republicans and their new found Democrat Allies to push some scheme to declare Trump ineligible and push Electors to coronate Kamala regardless.
To quote Chryten the robot from Red Dwarf, “ Installing smug mode”
ReplyDeleteHave been trying to leave a comment for a week - every time got an error message, no matter what credentials I entered. Hopefully, this time it register.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to us all! After the moment of elation and justified gloating (I insist!) comes difficult task of cleanup and rebuilding. And vigilance against obstructionism of deep-trenched enemy.
ETat, creackypavillion.wordpress.
I shall gloat. The leftists still don't understand why they lost.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure they yet believe they lost.

Welcome back. Jesse
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back. The day after Trump’s 2016 victory I was at FSI. About 85% of the place didn’t show up that morning. My language class consisted of myself and two people from other agencies not known for being as far left as State. We spent the morning wondering how many private sector employers (or military/law enforcement) would just allow 85% of their people to sick-out in a fit of political pique.
ReplyDeleteThis time around I didn’t notice much absenteeism, at least not in my section of DoS. But there were signs that poor judgment still abounds… listening/counseling sessions, people still sending out invites for DEI initiatives, still asking struggle-session questions in bidding interviews. I suspect the axe will be gentler at DoS than at some other agencies, given the nature of the work, constituencies on both sides in Congress, consular work, and pet programs and annual reporting requirements. But that said, if all I did in the week following the election was organize a crying room or email about DEI, then maybe I’m not going to be found to be essential after January.
Judging on nominees so far, it's a mixed bag. Especially problematic Dept of Education (while pre-election promises were to eliminate it altogether) and the Dept of Labor. Most odious example - Gaetz' nomination tanked by 4 Reps - makes one pause, too. The worst outcome of this majority-supported mandate given to incoming Admin would be if they will not deliver on promises.
ReplyDeleteEtat/ Creakypavillion.wordpress
You expect change? One of the first things to be announced was the formation of yet another govt agency. They have longer half-lives than plutonium.
DeleteNot sure if DOGE is taxpayer-funded, so maybe not an agency. Yet, another piece of questionable hire is his in-law for MiddleEast relations, a Lebanese businessman whose companies are in...Nigeria!
