Good or Bad for the Jews

Sunday Thoughts: Some Fun with a Ruger, Some Not Fun with Progs

Back in Durham after an extended stay in Wilmington. Had some electrical problems in the house, with one circuit breaker continually tripping and plunging me into an eerie internet-free world. Salvation came in the form of a very clever, cheap, and resourceful local electrician who figured it all out, and tracked down the evil device that threatened to convert my house into a socialist wonderland of darkness. For $25--yes, you read that correctly--he came out on a Saturday morning, did all sorts of magical tests with some yellow gizmo--I believe that is the correct term--found and replaced the bad piece of gear, i.e., an outside electrical socket.

Existing without internet for a couple of days led me into mischief, as you would expect. While the Diplowife went off with her little friends to the local gym, I Jeeped to my favorite local gun store, Backwater Guns, and bought a very nice Liberty gun safe, which they promptly delivered. Sitting in my basement, the safe, however, looked cavernous, sad, and (sorta) empty--and we all know that violates the Constitution's right to bear arms, and the Declaration of Independence's pursuit of happiness. Can't have that.

I, therefore, returned to Backwater and bought a Ruger PC 9 carbine. As its name reveals, it comes chambered in 9 mm. It uses ordinary Glock or Ruger pistol mags, and it can shoot! I am not a huge fan of the 9 mm--just a little fan--but the Euro slug has certain virtues: fast, accurate, light, and, of course, relatively cheap when compared to God's caliber, the tank-stopping, All-American .45 cal--"Stand up and take your hat off when I mention the .45, son!"

After running some Bore Bright through the barrel, I took this little gem to the local range in Wilmington. Put 200 rounds of 115 grain and 124 grain through it very quickly without a single jam or misfire. At 20 yards, I was Annie Oakley. The Ruger would not let me leave the X ring: I tried, but no, some sort of Elon Musk self-aiming mechanism must have taken over and forced me to become a good shot, for that day, at least. Anyhow, a lot of fun, and seems it would serve as a pretty good home defense weapon. With the sling I will put on it, this little carbine definitely also has the cool factor--an essential feature in any gun, naturally.

On the not so fun side of life, I see that the crazy progs continue their efforts to destroy the country. The situation at the border has become insane; it is an invasion, no other word fits. I long ago recommended (February 17, 2017, for example) the need to build the wall, of course, and shut down the border and start closing at least some of Mexico's fifty-two consular and diplomatic offices in the US as a way to pressure Mexico's rulers into doing what they must do. I have heard progs say shutting down the border won't do anything, because the migrants will still cross. Yes, but it will put huge financial pressure on powerful Mexican exporters--and the US companies who make stuff in Mexico--to get their government to start putting an end to this madness.

The Russian Collusion stuff should be dead and gone, but some progs just can't let it go. They continue with their efforts to pull a coup. They cooked up the Collusion story, and, as FBI officials have admitted under oath, without the salacious nonsense of the DNC-bought Steele Dossier, they would not have gotten the FISA warrants. That doesn't stop inveterate liars such as Adam Schiff from prattling on and on. This is a man who should be forced off the Intel Committee, if not Congress; at a minimum he should lose his security clearances. He is a liar and a dangerous national security loon. Be gone!

OK, off to help my son buy a BBQ.

  1. "did all sorts of magical tests with some yellow gizmo". AKA, a voltage meter I'm guessing.

Collusion scheme and also legal entrapment scheme it appears.

  2. (Quote)... I have heard progs say shutting down the border won't do anything..(Unquote)...

I think the progs saying this are the same idiots who said we couldn't drill our way out of high oil prices.

I say close the border and see what happens. If it doesn't work, I will be the first to say I was wrong.

    CW Buff out....

  3. The progs drain on this country is killing us.
The border problem is going to make us a 3rd world country soon if it isn't stopped ASAP.
And then there's Beto spewing his foulness.
I hate to say it but as bad as he was,J Edgar Hoover would of had a plan to stop this madness.

  4. Had the same situation at my old house. Burning lightbulbs out, strange crashing of all electrical equipment, the whole nine yards.

And, yes, it was some stupid 'not to code' outdoor outlet improperly installed in 1978 that went bad in 2008. After that I replaced, properly, all the outside plugs, finding all of them were 'indoor use only' and all full of wasp and mud dauber nests. Surprised I didn't have a house fire, rather than just funky electric stuff.

As to the safe, what, you didn't automatically turn around and buy another one because you overfilled your brand new one right away with all the guns and stuff you've had lying around?

  5. I'm all for the Collusion Delusion. For over a year it was all about Mueller. How he must be allowed ultimate freedom. How Laws MUST be passed to protect him. How Trump will fire him any nano-second. Progs were buying pets and naming them Mueller.
And now its over and everyone knows the exalted and infallible Mueller found nothing. And was not interfered with. And never under threat of being fired. So the very credibility that the Prog Media anointed Mueller with has now bit them in their Pants-suit laden behinds. Mueller the Perfect has found nothing except a 20 year old tax case and some taxi medallions.
So let the Progs continue on their path of Collusion. Based on the sudden ratings crash among the Prog Media, no one is sticking around for this bandwagon. Or is it a crash-cart trying to resuscitate ABCCBSNBCCNNMSNBCNPR?
As for Schiff...if he has absolute undeniable proof of Collusion, why did he not give it to Mueller? And would that be Obstruction of Justice by withholding such evidence?

    2. I think it's reasonably important to find out how a man supposedly in debt to the russian mafia wound up as head of a major presidential campaign.
I don't think it impugns Trump or those around him, as he apparently fired Manafort immediately after his first national security briefing, which probably pointed out that problem.
It was reason to perform an investigation... and I'm glad it's wrapped up now.
It didn't result in what progressives planned or expected, but neither did nov 7 2016... they'll continue to be unhappy and scream and shout.
I'll bet Mueller could have wrapped this up in 9 months instead of 24, but either way, it wrapped up without notable lasting damage to Trump.
I feel bad for Flynn, as it sounds like he got roasted by what *should* be police misconduct.

  7. Your electrical fault likely involved water infiltration causing a short circuit to ground which trips the breaker. The heat from this evaporates the water causing the short circuit, so the breaker can be reset, and a random period goes by before it reoccurs.

The Ruger PC is a very good candidate to install a red dot sight on. The weapon does seem to present itself as something expressing a desire to be over accessorized.

Shutting down the border would inconvenience Americans. We would have problems finding Tomatoes, Avocados, and other produce in the short term. It may if carried on for a month or more have a favorable impact on the Heroin and Meth addicts living as homeless because they are junkies and live only for those drugs. This however would be devastating to Mexican farmers, who would lose their crops if they couldn’t move them to market. It would hurt businesses in Mexico involved in trucking and logistics of moving all the goods that flow from Mexico to the U.S. As well as all the money that flows via the Tienda equivalent of Western Union to Mexico. All these legitimate business interests in Mexico will apply all the pressure they can bring to bear, but the Government of Mexico doesn’t control much of Mexico outside of Mexico City. The Cartels do, and unless they can feel pain, shutting the border won’t hurt them, rather it will be like for Americans, and inconvenience. Using the Intelligence services to locate the various leadership of these criminal cartels and taking care of a few of them, Israeli style. Would I think have more of a dramatic effect on those who control Mexico. This is rash, but not outside of U.S. Policy in Mexico in the past.

    1. Yes, it would be an inconvenience for us, but some times when you impose sanctions you have to put up with some pain. You are saying that, "We find it worthwhile to endure this pain to get you to do the right thing." The Mexican government, when convenient, has hidden behind the line that they don't control much of the national territory. When they want to act, however, they have capabilities. The Mexican Marines, for example, are excellent and very tough hombres. They have a capability to act against even the most vicious cartels. The Mexican government can get this caravan nonsense under control very quickly.

  8. Have you ever pondered an AR-9? So the Manual of Arms for your 5.56 NATO, and your 9mm carbine would be the same, and practicing with one, would, to a great extent, be practicing with the other.
