Good or Bad for the Jews

And It's On! Surprise! Hillary is the Nominee!

Like the old Colombo TV show, where the viewer saw the crime and the criminal at the beginning, and the rest of the show involved the process by which clever Lt. Colombo attained the knowledge we all had, so it was with the Democratic nomination process. We all knew who the criminal nominee of the party would be, and the show was about the maneuvers and dirty tricks by which the DNC ensured it would be Hillary Clinton. Well, the finale was last night, and--Surprise!--Hillary Clinton is the nominee. The hapless Bernie Sanders was relegated in his dotage to obscurity, sent off like a disgraced Don Quixote, lance broken on the DNC's steel-reinforced windmills.

I watched much of the DNC convention, not all, and herewith present some observations to add my notes to the punditry noise. Ignore it. Go on with your lives. There is nothing to see here!

We, as noted, got Hillary Clinton.

A general observation: Lot of lefty weirdness on view at the DNC convention. The final night, of course, the Dems tried to overcome the lack of patriotism manifest throughout the first three nights by flooding the arena with American flags. Didn't work. Poor Leon Panetta, a leftover from the old party which still had some semblance of love of country, found that out. He got hooted for calling for the defeat of the terrorists. That's all you need to know about the modern Democratic Party.

OK, then we had the execrable Chelsea Clinton. I know, I know, the standard wisdom is not to attack candidates' kids. Sorry, but she's an adult, and has put herself out there in the arena, so . . . Is this woman on Xanax? What was that speech-style she adopted? Sounded as if she had received diction lessons from Robbie the Robot or Siri. What a phony. She has vast wealth thanks to her corrupt parents, lives in a $10 million condo in Manhattan--yes, just like other young people--and has a somewhat shady hedge-fund manager husband. She launched a highly scripted and completely inauthentic paean to her corrupt mother, trying to make life in the dysfunctional crime- and scandal-ridden Clinton household seem normal. OK, enough of that.

Hillary's speech. Look, I am biased against her, but have to recognize that she gave a good solid progressive-light speech. Lots of extravagant promises about social justice and inequality and, and . . . it almost made one forget that the Dems have been in power for years and all the problems she outlined have only gotten worse. She had the usual lefty nonsense about guns and racism and, and . . the usual. She seemed to forget that men also exist in America. I noticed her little stunt whereby she altered the standard phrase "Founding Fathers" to just Founders. Constant effort to erase men from American life.

The whole woman schtick is tiresome. Other countries do not make a big deal about this. There have been lots of women politicians and national leaders, some excellent--e.g., Queen Elizabeth, Thatcher, Meir--others disasters--e.g., Ghandi, Merkel, Gillard, Bandaranaike--and most just forgettable or inconsequential--just like most male leaders. This is not a big deal.

I thought her foreign policy stuff was OK. It was standard, inside-the-beltway, American foreign policy prescriptions. Not bad . . . except for one thing, one little thing . . . the person giving the speech. She almost completely ignored her own time as SecState. Her foreign policy was a disaster. I have discussed that disaster in detail many times and won't repeat, but she has an arguably unequaled record of failure. She, of course, did not mention her ambiguous role--at best--in the Benghazi disaster, nor, of course, did she mention her disregard for national secrets. She was a failure with Russia, Latin America, the Middle East, China, terrorism, and, and, and . . . . Not a word about how she and her boss have made the world a much more dangerous place than it was eight years ago.

One has to keep asking Hillary, "When YOU had the power, what did YOU do?" Not much, well at least not much positive for America.

I am going to the gun range. My oldest son is in town and I have promised him a second amendment day.

  1. Diplomad,
Thank you fo Mcallister Indira Gandhi a failure. As to the rest, astute observations as always. I'm Indian and can't vote in your elections but one prays you'll elect Trump. Another four or eight years of Hillary will ruin what peace is left in the world and put the bankers and globalista firmly in power.
    Regards,
    Arun

  2. I kept looking for the /irony tag, but must have overlooked it:

“…you really think Donald Trump has the temperament to be commander-in-chief?” said the Benghazi SecState, whose "3:00 a.m. phone call" went to voice mail.

Not one of the four murdered men at Benghazi had a comment.

  5. Dip,

Enjoy your 2nd Amendment rights while they still exist. Even if Trump pulls this off, it seems the People's Republic of Kalistan are bound and determined to screw the little people.

And my state(Oregon) seems to ADORE your politicians.

    MOLON LABE!

    1. Every time I see a car with a Kalistan license plate, I think to myself "Go Home". I do not want the refugees of the disastrous policies of that state coming up to my state and then voting for the very same crap that ruined California which resulting in their fleeing to Oregon.

    2. Agree wholeheartedly. As a Nevada resident who has watched unhappy Californians spill across the border for 11 years, and has also watched our state politics turn bluer every year, I must second your sentiment. Every time I meet one for the first time I say, very bluntly, "you are welcome in our lovely state, but CA's politics are not. If you brought any with you, please send them back." Those who protest they have been Republicans all their life still get my skeptical look. If they are really conservative they should have stayed west of the Sierras and fought the political disaster that has been unfolding there for the past 30 years.

    3. Feel for you guys. I have no real career possibility outside the SF bay area, but my roots are Oregon and Nevada (going way back, not 'new Portlanders' who have barely removed their Cali bumper stickers.)
I feel bad about the corruption spreading up and out of this area.
      State of Jefferson... aye...

  6. And I thought it was only Australians who realised Gillard was a disaster. Well done.

  7. Do you really sacrifice chickens to Moloch using a rabbit's foot? If so, does the rabbit's foot really give you any extra special powers?

  8. Her only possible gold star as SecState was Myranmar ... I wonder how much pelf the Clinton Foundation extracted from the treasury of these poor souls?

This just in from Instapundit. Very bad news.

Typical Obama under-the-radar attack on guns: just change a few definitions and all of a sudden life is harder for gunsmiths.

    1. Same with NM. We bought a new Jag in LA in 1999 and were driving it x-counry to Philadelphia and a NM State Trooper followed us across the ENTIRE STATE on I-10--even pulled into same stations right behind us to gas up when w did, lol. Guess we looked like a pair of shifty drug dealers Must be the exotic looks of my Louisiana Creole wife. She gets the full "Full Monty" once-over and million questions from customs every time she comes back into the US. lol.

  12. The is the worst case of unbridled ambition I have seen in my life. There maybe (probably) have been worse in history, but in my life, no. This Gerl has wanted to be president since she read Alinsky at college.

The ambition is all. The corruption is justified as it helps fulfill her ambition.

  13. I disagree with your percentation. I would say zero percent compatibility. The muslims you meet with and get along with aren't really muslim. But, then, most muslim countries in the world weren't muslim until they were attacked and onvaded by fantaical hoards and forced to become muslim.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not my analysis of percentage.. it's the Gullen guy who Erdogan thinks was behind the latest coup in Turkey. I think he said 95% of the Koran is compatible with western liberal democratic capitalism, and that muslims shouldn't care about the other 5%.

nice idea in theory, but in my book, religion is 100%, 0%, or 'faking it'.

  15. Turns out, the Dems thought they could 'attack from within the civilian population' with this Khan guy. In the same calculation of a war criminal: "We'll attack from through here, because there are so many civilians, Trump wont dare respond with a counterattack for fear of hurting so many people's feelings."
This must seem rational to them, as they're so used to avoiding topics and avoiding unpopular scenarios (like getting into a war of words with the father of a soldier killed in action) with so much fear, that they think Trump can't possibly respond.
I think that's kind of what people in America are sick of: "Receiving attacks and not responding because standing up would be costly".

I just wonder if Trump 'gets' this, or whether his instincts just draw him in the right direction. At this point, I'm not sure anybody in America cares *who* attacks Trump, they just see him responding instead of being cowed by whatever political situation Hillary can put him in.

    1. I'll give credit where it is due: this Khan fellow spoke well for his side. Better than the droning politicians surrounding him.
Trump made a mistake going after him -- nothing to be gained by criticizing a family that left a son on the battlefield, no matter the ethnicity.

    2. Yeah it was a mistake. I of course was horrified when I listened to what was said, but then I asked myself "Just how convenient that Mr. Khan has such a prominent podium. How might this have come about?"

Good thing it happened in July rather than oh end of October or so .. not that I think it'll be so effective as "the planners" might have hoped.

  17. Politics is war without (or prior) to bullets; nonetheless, it is war.

Khan decided to place himself and his wife at the FEBA, and then to initiate an attack. After opening the ball, one does not then get to whip out a non-combatant flag and scold anyone returning fire.

Speaking as a veteran, the Khans lost nothing. Everyone dies, the only variable is the timing. Their son, an adult serving under the flag of his choosing, is the one who died. They grieve him, but he is the one who sustained the loss.

Indeed Mr. Khan, if you think that this is not about religion, your religion, then answer this question: In the last thirty years, what percentage of terrorists shouting Aloha Snackbar as they ply their murderous trade have been professing Muslims?

    1. Yes, sacrifice absolutely *must* be a personal choice made, not the choice/sacrifice of others. It would destroy the concept, and perhaps Christianity, if someone else's choice would serve as our sacrifice.

  18. Some bit of preemption might be in order as Ukraine appears to be making an appearance. From a couple years ago:

"[I] think it’s very clear with this President that he does not shoot first and ask questions later. He is going to take the time to get it right, precisely because it is important to our national security. So we were appropriately deliberate in developing intelligence and reviewing options, and consulting with European and Arab and other partners around the world to get a sense of the coalition that we could put together and get a sense of the types of targets that we could pursue in Iraq and in Syria as well."

"So the timing for this President was driven by getting this right -- getting it right in terms of having an Iraqi government in place, getting it right in terms of consulting with international allies and partners so that we could be sure that they would join us in a coalition, and getting it right in terms of doing the homework within our government at developing targets and developing options to move out on."

Saudi Arabia has an extensive border with Syria.
