Good or Bad for the Jews

It's a Wrap! GOP Convention: Day 4

I know I previously said I wanted to see lots of balloons. Forget it! Did you see that fireworks display? I love fireworks and have watched them all over the world. I wish I had been in DC for this show! Had to console myself with watching the extravaganza on a wide screen TV. It, even so, proved great! A perfect ending to a superbly produced convention. The DNC convention is evermore forgettable, and I am sure Biden already has forgotten it . . . along with lots of other stuff . . . .

Once again, the stagecraft was superb. The use of the White House as a backdrop proved a master stroke. I don't want to hear any whining from the progs about it; FDR accepted the 1940 nomination of his party from the White House, and FDR is the Prog God.

With a few minor exceptions, I thought the selection of speakers and their speeches proved excellent. I found particularly moving the address by David Dorn's widow. Dorn, a retired police captain in St. Louis, was murdered by "mostly peaceful protestors," i.e., Biden supporters, while helping protect a friend's business. The presentation by Kayla Mueller's parents also was a heart-breaking one. Mueller, a human activist, was kidnapped in 2013, raped repeatedly, and then murdered by ISIS in 2015. The Obama/Biden cabal did nothing about it; after all, ISIS was the junior league. The Muellers got some justice when US forces, under Trump's orders, not only destroyed the "Caliphate," but nailed al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, in an operation appropriately named "Operation Kayla."

I found also touching the story of Alice Marie Johnson, who had spent years in prison, for a nonviolent crime, and would probably have died there but for President Trump commuting her sentence. Rudy Giuliani, America's Mayor, went after Biden and the Dems in that inimitable Rudy style. He made a loud and heart-felt lament for what is happening to his beloved New York under the misrule of the Demprogs. Other speakers also were quite good. I found, in general, the nervous amateurs more interesting than the polished political pros.

On the Trumpian speech.

First, a minor criticism. I think that Ivanka Trump's "introduction" to the President went on for far too long. I have nothing against Ivanka, and think she's a smart and attractive woman, but I don't think we needed to hear her for some 20-25 minutes; a five-six minute intro would have been enough. Minor point.

The President's speech was a very good one, not quite as good as some of his State of the Union addresses, but still very good. It, however, started too late in the evening and went on too long; it could have been cut by some 20-25 minutes, and could have had sharper attacks on Biden. That aside, the President did an excellent job of laying out his accomplishments over the past four years and providing a road map for what he wants to accomplish in the next four. He came in hard on law-and-order, and made evident his disdain for those who attack cops and burn our cities, all with Democrat encouragement and even complicity.

Then, fireworks! Did I mention they had fireworks?

A+

Now the election is Trump's to lose.

    1. If everyone could see the RNC unfiltered, then I agree, but unfortunately only the base watched.

    2. Hopefully, the base is growing. With every firearm sale a Trump voter is created, and there have been millions of firearms sales mainly to first time buyers over the past months.

  2. Democrats and their propaganda ministry the media are working on the Hatch Act on a few speakers politicking as government employees.

  3. For a dose of reality go to the Iowa electronic markets and check the odds. It's Democrat win by a 70:30 ratio. Since this is a futures market played with real money, it's historically been decent at predicting outcomes.

IIRC it missed 2016 but I don't think it was as wide a spread back then.

    1. So now Mr. Trump needs to campaign as if the country depended on it.

    2. Concur 'digliebe! I dug through the moutain of BS for over an hour, but failed to uncover much more than 'Garbage in & out' stank! An aroma not unlike modern "Higher Education" in general, but I suspect the Progressive Profs are tickled playing with themselves, as usual. There was a fleeting wiff of sweet-sanity tape, stating that Trump 2020 was trending at 70%... not sure of the details tho, as another load of gobbled-gook stirred up the College Dorm Dumpster! Mebe #1482 can translate the conflicting data?

    3. 70/30 isn't remotely fit for print. That's basically not making a call at all, because no matter the outcome, you can't be wrong. Only in Global Warming Math (tm), is a call of 70/30 probability claimed to be 'a sure thing'. Publishing such a number makes people feel smart and in control.

  5. I'd rate it a B+. Trump's speech was fair, but overlong and repetitive. He needed to be done by around 2245...so the last ten or fifteen minutes could be fireworks, etc.

  6. Yep I think the Pelosi-Harris-Biden ticket is off to a rocky start. Hopefully it continues that way.

    1. Before following your link I figured it was Paul Mirengoff, and it was.

That guy has a case of TDS that seems to be terminal. He's on the same mental cruise ship as Jonah Goldberg & the NRO NeverTrumpers, and he's why I don't go to PowerLine as often as I once did. NRO I don't go to at all, unless it's Victor Davis Hanson & there's nowhere else to read his column.

Ideedy E'man, it does seem so to me, although he continues to tout his successful recovery from full-blown TDS. He also seems unable to resist picking at his own scabs! Been wondering, in addition to his butt hurt Potus inflicted wounds, what role his Minnisoda prog connections play in his affliction? I too have cut way back on my visits to Powerline, nor do I comment or put anything in their tip jar. Viz NRO they are not on my go-to list at all, both have a 'Drudge Sludge' feel the closer it gets to the National Election cycle. VDH, is in a [HIGH] class of his own imho, I still wish I made time, once upon a time, to take his cruise of the Greek Isles, and hear his lectures on the fields of antiquity... 'scuse me, I think Walter Mitty had me in a head-lock for a minute~~~

  8. The reason Trump’s speech was so long is to contrast his vigor with the fragility of Biden. IMHO.

Yes you did Dip, and what a fine fireworks display it was!
I just hope, they were made in the USA--oughta be a Law--TRUMP 2020!
Marvelous Music Finale too, tho it coulda been longer: America the Beautiful, Grand Old Flag, Proud to be an American, and Leonard Cohen -Hallelujah, plucked my last Blues Harp Heartstring, damned if I know why? Then, thought I heard Andrea Bocelli's tenor, even Trump spun on his heel to look up at the WH Balcony, too young to be him, he had a powerful voice though, 'Time to say Goodbye'!? Off to fill out my "Trump Make America Great Again Committee--VICTORY SURVEY" Can't dawdle, he gave me 48 Hours to get it in! THEY even put 3 LIVE POSTAGE STAMPS on the Return Envelope to get my attention! NO Wonder he gets Results!

  10. When I think of truly excellent fireworks displays, three stand out: 1) The fireworks in DC after the first Gulf War (Scud missles, yellow ribbons); 2) The fireworks display my first year in Guangzhou, China - since, after all, fireworks were invited in China; 3) The fireworks display at the conclusion of this year's RNC -- if for no other reason than TRUMP 2020 was spelled out! Marvelous!!!
