Re-elect President Trump

Pomposity alert: In this post, I give my reasons for having voted for President Trump, and will urge others to do the same. You have permission to stop reading right now, and say, "Who cares what some retired Foreign Service weenie has to say?" Go ahead, say it. I even will refund every cent you have spent on this blog . . .

As noted many times, I voted for Donald Trump in 2016, although I did not initially see him as my preferred GOP candidate. The more, however, I listened to him, and not to what others said about him or said that he had said, the more I realized that this New Yorker seemed exactly what the doctor had ordered for what ailed America and the West. I soon found that he was not a buffoon, not a racist, not a xenophobe, and certainly not into gaining the presidency to get money and fame. It, of course, helped my decision to vote for Trump that he ran against somebody, Hillary Clinton, of whom I had some direct knowledge thanks to my old job at State. While at Foggy Bottom, I came to realize that she was a total, let us say a compleat fraud and crook. Hillary Clinton ranked among the most insincere persons I ever encountered: a disgusting self-absorbed character out to make herself and her corrupt family rich and powerful at the public expense.

Donald Trump, on the other hand seemed, as noted, to have no personal material incentive to become President--he already had plenty of wealth and fame. More important, his message of "America First," hit me as one I had argued for, ineffectively I might add, during my many years at State; the bureaucracy seemed more interested in having good relations with foreigners by giving them what they want, i.e., providing "deliverables." Above all the bureaucracy opposed change. I, for example, saw the State bureaucracy's resistance to Ronald Reagan's drive to bring down the USSR. So when Donald Trump spoke of the "Deep State Swamp," I knew exactly what he meant. It is a real thing which threatens democracy and the pursuit of American interests.

On domestic issues, I felt a frustration bordering on anger with the facile manner in which our political-bureaucratic-Wall Street class (Democrats and Republicans) casually shipped away America's manufacturing base, lecturing us all the while on "free trade," and how we all gain by buying products from China and Mexico instead of making them here. It never made sense to me; I kept saying, "In that case why don't we buy our military systems from China, too?" These same elites told us we would benefit from millions of poor, uneducated, and often violent Third World aliens pouring into our country because they not only brought new ways of doing things, but, above all, they brought "diversity" to our society, something hailed as good in and of itself--no further explanation needed. We were told that "Islam is a religion of peace," while jihadis rampaged through the streets of the world murdering and destroying.

This same elite's obsession, fake of course, with "Climate Change" also always seemed to translate into suffering for America's middle class and blue collar workers--big promoters of this Man Made Climate Change nonsense such as Gore and Obama have become quite wealthy and have lavish homes on the coasts, the very coasts the rest of us must avoid because of "rising sea levels." In the atrocious Paris Climate Accord, we agreed to destroy our coal industry while allowing those of China and India to prosper. Made no sense to me why Chinese coal would prove better for Gaia than American coal. The efforts to stop the building of oil pipelines and refineries, destroy fracking and our energy independence, and to impose ever higher "gas guzzler" taxes and automobile MPG requirements, all meant more suffering for the middle class and those aspiring to enter it, and put our national security at risk.

There are endless examples of this sort of elite diktat, one more being of course the hypocritical stance on gun "control": the uber-rich have guards and walls, the rest have 9-1-1, you know, "When seconds count, help is minutes away."

Trump spoke openly about all this. The reaction from the elites proved fierce. We have discussed all that at some length in numerous prior posts, and won't repeat it here.

So I have stuck with Trump for 2020. Simply put, he is the most honest and effective major American political figure I have found in my lifetime. He, above all, seems genuinely to love this country and its people: that, of course, should serve as a basic requirement for anybody aspiring to high office, but, alas, it is not--and, yes, indeed, I do question the patriotism of people such as Obama, Biden, Kerry, Omar, Harris, Sanders, etc.

President Trump does what he says he will do.

Bush, Clinton, Obama, Biden, Romney, et al, accepted, and profited from, the disappearance of American manufacturing. Obama, famously told us, no "magic wand" will bring back those jobs; McCain agreed, saying those jobs had gone forever. Trump did not agree, and acted to prove it. We have seen the rebirth of American manufacturing thanks to the actions undertaken by Trump in taking on the destructive "trade deals" of the past 30 or so years, his reform of our tax code, cutting crippling regulations, and in his insistence that America achieve energy independence, which has happened. That alone should earn Trump the vote of every American worker.

Trump questioned, as noted in prior postings (here, for example), the assumptions that undergird American foreign policy since WWII. While at the same time confronting China, avoiding nuclear conflict with North Korea, destroying ISIS, and boxing in Iran, he has begun the process of disentangling us from pointless wars, and from seeking overly complex and unattainable solutions to long-standing problems. He has shown an ability to cut through the nonsense and focus on the real, e.g. in the Middle East. He has rebuilt the US military, suffering from severe neglect over the previous eight years.

Trump's opponent? Former VP Joe Biden, a semi-gaga crook of the old corruptocrat school, has been a fabulist, a fraud, and a hoaxer his whole political life; he now serves as the Trojan horse for a gaggle of leftists out to destroy America--AND YES, in fact, I do question his patriotism and that of his enablers. Biden and his family have become wealthy laundering money from China, Russia, Ukraine, etc. Biden is hopelessly compromised; his backers know it, and that includes the corrupt mass media running interference for him. They, of course, have no intention of letting him be the real President, as we have discussed many times before.

Trump 2020.

  1. I think the expectation started with Nixon/Kissinger's rapprochement and Carter's kicking Taiwan out of the UN... The wager was that economic interdependence would liberalize communist countries.
That bad bet was roughly doubled-down on by Clinton and the 1990's GOP (this *after* Tienamen) as they brought the communists to the WTO and granted permanent MFN status.
Basically, in the war against "bad ideas from long-dead Germans", the US took its eye off the ball after the victory against the USSR.

The USA isn't concerned about competing fairly in the global economy, but it should be concerned about gutting its own manufacturing and shipping it to totalitarian states. Why did it take Donald Trump to figure this out??????

I think many of US had it figured out,
but didn't possess the tool-kit needed,
to engineer the Art of the Deal...
In retrospect, we had to wait for the
Architect and his specs to build US out

    4. Agreed it was a bad bet at first, done with good intentions by Nixon. I won't give Clinton any credit for good intentions, though. He and Gore took Chinese money plus money from US companies that just saw the money, not the risk, of dealing with Communist China.

    5. Carter didn't kick Taiwan out of the UN. The UN General Assembly assembled enough votes over the threat of US veto. Carter merely de-recognized the Republic of China (limited to Taiwan and some islands of Fujian). This being said, I don't think this was a good thing.

As for Nixon-Kissinger, I can't totally blame them. In the 1970's, it was abundantly clear that we had lost the Cold War, and needed to adjust to a world in which the Soviets would be paramount. They banked on a then-apparent Sino-Soviet split (guided chiefly by Mao's outrage over Soviet de-Stalinization) that would go on forever.

As for the Cah-duh administration, I think a major issue was that Zbigniew Brzezinski hated the Soviets more for being Russian than for being Communist; just as Kissinger's big mistake was taking for his model Metternich balancing conservative powers rather than the British PM's from Pitt the Younger to Perceval dealing with revolutionary and Napoleonic France.

As for China, I fully agree that official and Wall Street America were entirely too optimistic. We must never, never forget that it is a nuclear-armed power for whom Stalin is still deeply revered; and whose nationalism is of the extremely rankled, vengeance-happy kind that sprang up in post-Napoleonic Germany.

It was gratifying to watch Mainland China's dismay when Trump got our industries to stat making our own PPE.

    6. All the cold war decisions were one thing.. the post-cold-war double down on the part of Clinton + GOP was where things went sideways. We have two enemies threatening with knives, we knock one down first, then we face the other... at that point they still have a knife.. and a hug is not an available path to victory.

Every President has so far avoided it. Has North Korea stopped making nuclear weapons? If not, what has Trump accomplished, besides photo opportunities?

I looked at the chart provided and sure enough it does seem to indicate that the rate of increase has been steady, and then I looked at the banding to create the chart. Hmm…. It starts at 2010, why is that President Obama was president since 2008… Let us set the series to start and show the full term, Oops wow! Hide the decline……

Well, the page defaulted to 2010. However, if you don't hold Trump responsible for the decline from covid19 I don't see how Obama would be responsible for the decline from the Great Recession. It does take the President some time to make changes that affect the economy, after all.

There are over 9,000 atmospheric scientists in the US alone. While I don't agree Mann committed any sort of malfeasance, the more important point is that claiming almost all of them are lying is sheer anti-intellectualism.

    9. reader #1482,

Even if it were true that Mann lied, you still have the over 9,000 atmospheric scientists who are saying global warming (or if you want to be PC, climate change, because some locations will be cooler) is real and caused in part by human activities. So, saying Mann lied doesn't change that.

      Delete
    10. First, appeal to authority, then stuff words in mouths of 9,000 'atmospheric scientists'. What's yer next trick?

Just because people *think* we should be able to know whether global temperature changes and is caused by human activities, doesn't mean we *can* know such a thing with any reasonable predictive power... even in the age of the Internet Echo Chamber.

The evidence has not significantly changed since introduction, yet confidence has increased exponentially. That's a social effect, not a physical one.

It's *ok* for there to be complex phenomena that is beyond the capacity of humanity to make useful predictions.

Appeal to authority is only a fallacy when the authority is unqualified to render judgement, and I'm not putting anything in the mouths of scientists that they did not put there first.

  4. Well said, Sir!

We have to face facts -- We The People have dug ourselves into a deep hole. The basis of all good things is Production -- whether it is a National Park or a hospital. We are now uncomfortably close to the position of Japan or Germany after WWII with much of our productive capacity destroyed -- and with no Uncle Sam around ready to dig into his pockets with a Marshall Plan. Recovery is possible, but it is going to take one or two generations. And there is no guarantee of recovery -- think of crumbling England, or Argentina which was once one of the richest countries in the world.

Re-electing President Trump would be a smart move. Replacing some of the Congress Scum (Republicrat as well as Democrat) would also be smart. But a methematician would say those are Necessary But Insufficient conditions for rebuilding the USA.

  7. Hi, I firstly want to say how much I enjoy reading your blog and, as I'm not an American some of it is a little esoteric for me, it is well written and I can agree with much of it - like how the leaders of the West have failed their people over the last forty years or so.
However, you wrote: how we all gain by buying products from China and Mexico instead of making them here. It never made sense to me...
Unfortunately, it makes perfect sense - if you are the CEO or a major investor in the company. By closing down more expensive factories located in the West and basing them in low-wage countries instead where people will work very long hours for very little reward, you can increase profits in the short-term at least. Which means bigger bonuses and share options and dividends for the people and investors at the very top. They don't care about the workers or the devastation in communities once the manufacturing jobs have been pulled out as they don't live there. All they are interested in is short-term gains because, after a few years, they have usually left the company and gone on to asset strip another firm.
In Germany, so I believe, most companies even now, are family owned so the owners generally want to pass on a viable company to their children or grandchildren. Unlike here in the UK where the CEOs have nothing to do with the local communities.
I know the above makes me sound like a socialist - which I most certainly am not, but modern capitalism over the last 40 years has wrecked the West. There are towns in the North and Midlands of England which have been hollowed out by the lack of decent paying jobs. And then we have had to cope with a mass influx of largely unemployable third world immigrants who don't share our culture or values which ruined any welfare system as well. It is no wonder ordinary people are so unhappy with what has been done to them. I'm surprised there hasn't been more unrest both here and in the US.
Take care everyone and let's hope for better times.

    2. If this production and those jobs were being shipped to a friendly/allied country, fine. Maybe the crux is that we've switch from "aligning trade goals with policy goals", to "aligning policy goals with trade goals". Cart before the horse.
It's *marketed* as "we now have *better* jobs" by shipping 'lower wage' jobs to enemy countries.

The only *real* logic that makes any sense is: "America has to ship jobs to enemy nations because America needs to remain competitive in the world economy." Basically an 'everybody else is doing it' rationalization. That's a *lack* of leadership.

Maybe I'm wrong... maybe the changes Trump makes in the next 4 to remove those policies will sink America's enemies and maybe that will be due to their reliance on access to US markets to support their economies? At this point, it seems unlikely.

So we give the sale to the CEO whose company had their stuff made more cheaply in China, rather than the CEO of the American-based company. Case in point: Microchips. Used to be made by Motorola, in the USA. But we want cheap gadgets, so they use Chinese microchips.

I like that idea! It would do a lot to make elected "representatives" more representative, and help stop the strange process where elected representatives become very wealthy during their terms in office.

  10. My diplomwife and I voted Friday. While I was probably p--sing into the wind in this here deep indigo state, I was happy to vote for four more years of President Trump; and should I live long enough, eight years of Pence (or whoever).

I have other concerns which made me a Trump semi-enthusiast. One has been his foreign policy. While I will never be an apologist for the Kim dynasty, Trump at least opened a diplomatic dialogue; but he was not so invested in it as to accept a bad deal as better than no deal in Hanoi. As for his kindly words, call them a sales pitch. But, best of all, he had Xi Jinping (sinister, despite looking like Winnie the Pooh) warning Kim Jong'eun that the lips and teeth alliance wouldn't hold if Kim starts a nuclear war. Further, three Arab states making peace with Israel in one week calls for a Nobel Peace Prize from the days (Pre-Kissinger and Le) when it might have meant something.

Another item is that whereas our host is concerned about the fate of the Second Amenment under Biden-Harris, Uncle Kepha is concerned about the First. It is clear that the Democrats have no intention to uphold free speech for their opponents; and they will clearly use their organized perversion clientele to undermine the Free Exercise Clause. And these liberties will not be safe until we can put together a conservative landslide.

Last of all, as the past target of whispering and character assassination myself, I sympathize with Trump. He is neither fascist, racist, anti-immigrant, nor xenophobe. It is his opposition that has turned "immigrant" (my diplo-wife, the first lady, many neighbors) into a synonym for "illegal migrant" in their attempt to permanently change the character of our people. I am proud (God forgive me) to report that I chewed out an "immigrant rights" activist over the phone for this semantic swindle. As for Trump's Islamophobia re the travel ban, that proved to be only prudence about national security; and, seeing how Elaine Chao is still on the job, his comments about "WuFlu" and shutting off entries from China ended up yet another piece of prudence. I am also encouraged that Trump has been willing to fight back against the media-legal-academic-governmental swamp, which delegitimizes itself in light of the Constitution by the hour.

Finally, it will be good for the country that our judiciary ceases to be a super-legislature for radical causes. The Taney Court brought on the Civil War with Sanford v. Scott (and the dissents of McLean and Curtiss were as Constitutionally impeccable as Taney's opinion); the Left-wing activist Court did the same with the abominable Roe and Obergefell decisions.

  11. Now, for the real reason I voted Trump:

Do you know why our Fascist president has not had to resort to traditional fascist measures like jailing jornos and opposition pols? it's because he doesn't have to! He's got supernatural power!

After all, if he's responsible for 230,000 covid deaths, he's also responsible for well over 600,000 YTD cancer deaths in the USA, plus those by heart attack, stroke, accident, weather, and rarer ills. The real reason why three highly liberal state claimed 40% of US covid fatalities is because Trump conjoured up his mojo against them. I sure don't want him prevailing on the Heavens to strike me dead with a lightning strike.

I mean, all those intelligent people can't be wrong, can they?

Be that as it may tho, back to your 'Dog Catcher n' street people' lament Once upon a time >---> 'Bout 10 years ago I met a NYPD Patrol Sargeant from the 78th Pct in Brooklyn, New York... He shared an experience with me, that he had while on duty, providing Security for The Donald and his Yacht, docked somewhere up in the City! Seems the Sarge was butt-hurt because Trump didn't molly-coddle the NYPD detachment, by providing them with the onboard niceties of the Yachting Set. Ha, yeah the fat ass Sarge thought he should be pampered with all the frills for doing his freakin job! I told him he was a disgrace, to his face, shortly after, he retired, same old jerk! Fast Forward to 2020, The NYPD PBA Endorsed DJT for POTUS! Met the Sarge, by fate, a few month back, in a Long Island Gin Mill, he was bragging about his buddy TRUMP! Funny how sh!t turns around in the turlet bowl of life! Never saw a Harder Working CinC than DJT, never saw a man absorb so many cheap shots and keep on punching! G-D Bless & Protect him! And deepest thanks to the fates calling the shots, for allowing US to borrow hin for a couple terms! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!, BOSS!

  14. In faint defense of bot "Leaperman" -- at least when the Chinese programmed him, they programmed him to recognize that Slo Joe Biden was a "fool".

Of course, Slo Joe would undoubtedly rather be remembered as a fool who went around sniffing little girls' hair than as a corrupt exploiter of the working class, women, and minorities -- a guy who had his hand out for "contributions" from any foreign regime.

  15. Thank you for this posting.

In 2008 I was recently registered unaffiliated and voted in the Democrat primary for Hillary Clinton. I thought a Dem would win the general, and Obama’s fundamentally-change-America platform scared me silly. Even with Hillary in the Oval Office, I figured Bill (whatever his vices, a street-savvy politician and an order-of-magnitude improvement over Carter) would be close at hand.

In the 2016 primaries I supported Cruz because, for me, Trump’s Bush/Iraq tirades were ‘way over-the-top. Also I thought Trump didn’t stand a chance against Clinton. Although my vote in the general was never-Clinton, it was also because a life-long friend and retired Martin-Marietta exec told me a businessman like Trump was just what the nation needed.

My friend was right. In 2020, without hesitation, I voted for Trump.

  17. An idle thought...
15 (Democrat) States have entered into a compact that they will assign their Electors to the winner of the popular vote.
If Trump wins the popular vote will they still abide by that decision?

    1. it's only theoretically entering into force if enough states sign on to determine the election themselves as a group.
It's of questionable constitutionality.. supposedly it cannot be challenged until an attempt is made to put it into force... but it seems like that would be too late... as if it's ruled constitional, a candidate should have campaigned in many other states rather than battleground.
Not sure why it hasn't been challenged yet.

  19. Reported on DMF:

As of 7:30 p.m., I'm not feeling nearly as distressed as I was. Limbaugh was a treasure this afternoon. The prediction sites and Wall St. are acting as if they predict a Trump win. This president is a fighter and is not going to go down quietly. His legal team looks formidable to me and are already at work. The situation is not dire. It is the Democrats who are going to be in distress as their criminality is unwound and corrected. The Senate is still in republican hands, not a single Republican House incumbent was beaten and seats have been gained. It's late March of 1942. The Battle of Midway is next.

    1. not feeling that optimism... I've learned to be cautious in counting Trump out.. but I'd say of the last 6 years, this is pretty much his most unlikely recovery point. It's been a hysterical embarrassment for our "polling class", but as an embarrassment, it still doesn't appear to be 'enough'.

So then, considering the weight of the baggage (including Age) that each contender will be carrying, as well as the Team he'll have available in his corner -- Who's shoes would you want to be in, between now and Jan 20th? Remember too, even if '45' loses to '46', he'll still have a shot at '47' to finish what he started, MAGA!

  20. The election has been stolen.
There is plenty of information out there explaining how the marxists were finally able to pull this off:

    https://davejanda.com/general-tom-mcinerney-hammers-the-deep-state-voter-fraud-operation/

This link explains in more detail how this Cyber Weapon is used. This interview was the day before the election.
This names names, Brennan, Comey, Mueller….funded by Soros…war room that Obama organized has making this happen.
Many names involved that you will recognize.
The algorithms will be meant to look like foreign interference if found.
This is really happening and we will no longer have the USA as we know it.

This is why they could run the aging Biden and the marxist Kamala.
They are only the pawns, the game is fixed.

    First report on Monday:
    https://noqreport.com/2020/11/02/democrats-colluding-with-cia-to-launch-intelligence-operation-that-alters-voting-machine-results-report/

    And yesterday:
    https://noqreport.com/2020/11/04/hammer-and-scorecard-lt-gen-mcinerney-explains-the-election-hack-by-democrats/

They have been fine tuning these methods since 2012.

I have verified all this with someone I know at the top of the government food chain. I know that doesn't mean much to anyone, but this will all come out and the truth will be seen.

Be safe everyone, we’ve entered the next phase.

    2. pretty pointless.. if it "will all come out" then what's the value?
sounds like the old "diebold owned by bush supporters!"
It would have to be a very sophisticated attack to produce a result outside all mainstream predictions *but* still delivering an extremely marginal biden victory..

... and... even if so... then America gets what it deserves for automating voting... which was the very dumbest move anybody would make. America made it.. and all sides were in support. It's the *one* thing that america could and must have done manually.. and yet America didn't. I don't see how America deserves anything else.. yes.. many have sacrificed and died for this country, but the people of America largely stopped caring for the fruit of those sacrifices.
not leaving... will help rebuild when it comes to it... shouldn't be too long now.

    3. The O (屙屎 or 小儿, depending on tone in Hakka dialect) was the beginning of the end. He was our first Third World Great Leader; and his politicizing the bureaucracy was a major disaster. Add to that the grand old urban Democrat tradition of sleazy machine politics.

In a Biden--oops Harris--presidency, it won't just be the Second Amendment at risk. The First will be sacrificed to the interests of the LGBTQWXYZ, Islamic, Alinskyite clientele.
