Good or Bad for the Jews

"Good or Bad for the Jews"

Many years ago, and for many years, I would travel to Morocco to visit uncles, cousins, and my paternal grandmother. Some lived in Tangiers;...

The Definition of Insanity: Jihadists at Work

This is one of the craziest stories I have read in a while.  I saw it in the loopy leftist British The Independent.

Check out the opening paragraphs, written apparently without tongue in cheek, or any sense of the absurdity of what is being stated,
Pakistan's Taliban retaliated brutally for the slaying of Osama bin Laden yesterday when two suicide bombers attacked a paramilitary recruitment centre killing at least 80 people in one of the deadliest strikes in recent months.
The two suicide bombers detonated their explosive vests just as the recruits from the Frontier Constabulary – an ill-equipped and poorly trained police force – were leaving their training centre at the Shabqadar Fort in the north-west town of Charsadda.
I guess that will teach the SEALs not to mess with Islamic heroes!

If you do, we will kill dozens . . . of people who had nothing to do with the SEALs . . . and, uh, well, we will kill dozens of Muslims just to show you we can!

Any protests from Islamic groups? Any calls for the UN Security Council to meet? Anybody out there doubt there is a serious, serious problem within the Islamic world? Anybody doubt that the greatest threat to Muslims is Islam?

  1. I hope that this is not news to you that our ability challenged leftists are weak in reason, or perhaps that their reality map (the neuro linguistic programming term) is not an accurate representation of reality.

Someone said that the West can only be defeated from inside, er, within.

Heaven forbid that our current crop of leftist thinkers, bureaucrats, administrators, academics, and union types are just a catspaw to stop the West from facing a foreign power(s) bent on the tradition of total world domination

  2. This is perhaps a good reason why the USA should keep out of the Islamic world's problems. There is no Islamic state with the power, charisma, or wealth to form the core of a new Ottoman Empire to challenge the West or do more than provide a local nuisance.

Further, let's give up the stupid game of pretending that we can police the Islamic conscience from outside to promote the "moderate" brand of Islam over the "fundamentalist" one. Frankly, I strongly suspect that that division was made only in 1979, when a Leftist media saw a golden opportunity to make Evangelical Christians--who were deserting Jimmeh Cahduh in his hour of need--look un-American by suggesting there was some connection between them and the Islamic hostage-takers in Iran. Before 1979, NOBODY ever suspected there was such a thing as a modernist-fundamentalist division in the Ulema.

When faced with a disaster, the Islamic world finds some scapegoat, whether surviving Dhimmi minorities, other sects of Islam, or people of the same sect but on a different side of the local personality-based political divide.

  3. Be gum I think we've stumbled on a new tactic. Do something provocative once a week and let the Islamists punish us by terrorizing and destroying their own countrymen in retaliation. Works for me.

Any side bets on how many years it would be before "somebody" figured it wasn't working out the way they thought it would? I say at least 7 years.

  4. At least 7 years...

    Nah. 1200 hasn't been enough.
